GUNNM: Alita Battle Angel
In the bustling metropolis of Iron City, amidst the sprawling scrapyards and towering skyscrapers, Dr. Daisuke Ido wanders aimlessly through the central landfill site in search of anything that might come in useful, until he stumbles upon an extraordinary discovery: the remains of an unconscious cyborg girl, arguably hundreds of years old, and whose original brain is still intact. Excited by his discovery, the compassionate Ido takes the girl over to his clinic, where he names her "Alita."
When this enigmatic beauty finally awakens, she does so without remembering who she is nor recognizing the technologically advanced world she finds herself in. Lost in a land of technology and treacherous secrets, Alita learns to navigate her new life with the guiding hand of Ido, yet soon, they both discover that Alita herself is a powerful cyborg with abilities beyond compare, and that her adventurous spirit and curiosity cannot be contained, let alone controlled.
Alita then sets out to learn about life, embarking on a journey of self-discovery as she explores the depths of her extraordinary abilities and uncovers the truth behind her existence, true purpose and destiny, gaining and losing friends to the cruel world of the Scrapyard, far below the utopian floating city of Zalem, and forming unlikely alliances along the way as she faces formidable adversaries and serves many masters in her quest to protect the oppressed, create a new life for herself and, ultimately, find her place in the world.
