- Intruders! 8 men! - Lubbock shouted sharply. - Very close to the hideout!

Najenda instantly transformed from a dazed smoker, to a sensible commander.

- Shit... We've been found. We're declaring an emergency. Leave no one alive. - she said as clearly as possible.

That's all we need. My kagune abruptly started trying to break free, reacting to my excitement, but it was too early to release it here. All of my partners abruptly snapped in different directions, and I, moved towards the largest concentration of the enemy, namely in the size of 5 people.

Jumping out, I let all 8 tentacles break free while jumping off the wall in parallel. The tentacles easily stopped my fall, and I hovered a metre above the ground, belaying at the kagune, much like Kaneki once did in Tokyo Ghoul canon. I think he was fighting the sadist who tortured him, but that's beside the point.

And this way of travelling in the forest is much more efficient than the same acceleration. You have to loop, which makes your speed drop, but with the kagun this disadvantage is simply absent, when you can constantly correct your way without slowing down.

I got to the offenders first. After five seconds, all five people fell with punctured hearts, and I began to snack lightly.

After a couple of minutes I felt my partners approaching, and I hurried to wipe myself with a handkerchief taken from the room. In this act, I was caught by Mein and Lubbock.

- What about the rest of the intruders? - I asked, still wiping my chin.

- They're done. - Lubbock replied, staring in disgust at the site of a torn piece of meat from one of my dishes. Mein, meanwhile, was emptying her stomach of the remains of her undigested breakfast next to her boyfriend.

Strange, such things shouldn't cause gag reflexes in assassins. Or did the fact that Mein was a sniper play into it?

- Did you-oh-lunch? - Lubbock struggled to speak.

- Mm-hmm. I was hoping to finish without your attention, but it didn't work. - I shrugged, tucking the handkerchief into a special pocket, giving mana to restore and cleanse my clothes in the meantime.

With a snap of my fingers, I sizzled four bodies, and one, still intact, I hefted onto my shoulders.

- Shall we go? - I raised an eyebrow.

- Ah... what do you need him for? - Lubbock asked apprehensively.

- I told you, I usually feed on brigands. I'll keep this one in reserve. - I answered grudgingly. Mein, meanwhile, had more or less returned to normal, and was now looking at me pityingly.

- М? - I raised my eyebrow incomprehensibly.

- Leave him... please..." she explained. Tears started to form in her eyes, which really fucked me up.

A killer crying because his target's body is going to be slowly eaten for a month. Although... She's basically the youngest on the team... and a sniper... and they're a lot less mentally stable....

But I've been wanting to make things right with her for a long time, and now was the perfect opportunity. I sharply threw the body off my shoulders, sizzling, and with a concerned look on my face, ran up to Mein. Lubbock was trying to lift his jaw in shock at the sight of Myne. Apparently she was very rarely like this.

- Mein, Mein! Calm down, what are you doing? - I said worriedly, while enclosing the girl in a friendly hug.

And Lubbock, bastard, apparently understood everything in his own way, showing me a thumb, took off in the direction of the base, leaving us alone. What a pervert... Probably there now will tell everything to everyone with exaggeration.....

Meanwhile, Mein more or less calmed down, stopping sobbing little by little. All this time, I was processing her little by little with my emotions, trying to make her want to tell me.

- When I was little..." she began. - I had one friend. An orphan like me... We were often beaten by other children, me for being a half-breed of our people and an enemy, and her just for her friendship with me. And one day... We were caught again... But then the jailer's son was there, who was a horrible sadist... He killed Chloe, and then he tore her into little pieces before my eyes, feeding her to his dog... I killed him. And when you said what you were gonna do.

- I'm sorry, I'm sorry. - I stroked the girl's head. - I didn't know.

***

We got back about an hour later. Maine had said some good things to me, so she was in a good mood. And I'd managed to empathise with her. Now I'd have to do the same with the others... I'd tied Leone to me during that drink, but Akame and Shelly, and Lubbock too, I'd still have to think about how to get them to contact me for half an hour.

I'm going to leave the Night Raid not alone, but with all the girls, because it would be idiotic to lose such a beauty. Lubbock's just fun, and he's a normal guy. Not like Bulat. I wouldn't hesitate to waste him.

By the way, now the whole team was looking at me and Mein suspiciously, which was quite fun for me. What had Lubbock said to them?

But now it was time for dinner, where I was sitting with a cup of coffee, amused by the bickering of the rest of the team. However, then my new boss got up from her chair, clearly preparing to make a toast.

- So, you've all performed well today. I was especially pleased with Kaneki, who easily took down five opponents. Now, you've fully become one of us, so let's drink in honour of the new addition! - Najenda exclaimed enthusiastically, her emophone glowing with joy, happiness, and some other cocktail. Is she happy about the greatly increased strength of the squad?

The others also began to say something enthusiastic. And so the glasses were raised, we clinked, and each of us drank in a gulp. I had a cup of coffee.

- By the way, Kaneki! Starting today, you're Akame's cooking assistant. - said Najenda.

The coffee I hadn't had a chance to swallow yet was on the table.

- Why should I learn to cook!? - I said sharply. - By the way, I already know how to cook!

- We each fulfil a certain household need for the team. - explained Mein.

Then the thought struck me that if I am Akame's assistant, we will be alone for a couple of hours a day, which gives me the opportunity to fulfil my plan.

- Do it! Otherwise you'll be scrubbing floors with Bulat. - Leone cheerfully encouraged me.

Bulat was about to say something related to his nature, but I beat him to it:

- I agree!

***

- When I was a child, my parents sold me and my sister Kurome to the Empire, and we were forced to participate in a brutal exam that was to be held inside a forest inhabited by many dangerous beasts. The only goal was to survive and leave the forest. Out of the 100 children participating in the exam, Kurome and I were one of the few survivors. However, we were separated and put into different groups. For a long time, I was trained and also sent to kill different people. And one day, I was sent to kill Najenda. She was the one who persuaded me to join the Night Raid....

I was able to get Akame to tell me about her past, reasoning that she knows my past and she doesn't. At the same time, I was also able to tie the girl to me.

Akame allowed me to cook, and was so delighted with my borscht, which didn't exist here, that she almost forced her recipe out of me.

However, the rest of the team interrupted the action and saved me from certain death.

- We've been ordered to kill someone in the capital. Take shelter while we're gone. What the hell are you doing? - screamed Mein as she looked into the kitchen.

And she yelled because Akame was currently sitting on top of me, which from the outside looked extremely... unseemly. I'm always suspected of seducing my partners.

Well, she saw us... but that's not why she yelled. Akame threw a frying pan at her over her shoulder. A true chef who would even kill for a recipe for a dish he doesn't know....

Meanwhile, Main apparently understood the reason for the frying pan's flight in her own way as well, so she quickly disappeared. Oh what will happen... However, these thoughts were quickly removed by Akame's bloody gaze, which was transferred back to me.

- HOW. HOW. COOK? - she said, grabbing a new pan.....

***

The next day, Akame and I set out to catch fish.

- We must destroy the underwater inhabitants. - Akame said enthusiastically as she undressed.

I was watching with no less enthusiasm, while undressing myself a little at a time. Akame had a great figure... And everything else... She was the perfect girl. If only she didn't have the killer's behaviour... But personally, it wouldn't bother me.

After spending a full 5 minutes hunting fish, I decided to make Akame's task easier by releasing the kagune and turning it into 8 thin blades that easily pierced the fish. Akame's reaction to my move was extremely fearful... for me. She had a "how do I rip this off and then stick it on myself?" look.

Well, at lunchtime, Leone returned from the capital.

- Our targets: an ogre, one of the capital's guards, and an oil merchant named Gamal. The client told me the ogre was accepting bribes from Gamal. Every time Gamal committed a crime, the ogre would shift his guilt onto someone else. - Leone said gravely, tossing the bag of money on the table. - I could smell the stench of venereal disease coming off of her... She must have traded herself to make that money. - the metamorph ended sadly.

- Did you check her story? - Najenda asked calmly.

Well yes... After all, she is a former general, and for the umpteenth time I say that especially in fantasy worlds, generals sometimes see very terrible things.

- They're guilty. I watched them from the attic of the shop for a while. - Leone replied.

- Good. Night Raid takes that order. We'll bring God's punishment down on those bastards' heads. And send them to the next world. - said Najenda angrily, exhaling the smoke from her cigarette. - It won't be hard to deal with Gamal, but the ogre is a serious opponent.

Najenda thought for a moment, inhaling another hit of nicotine.

- They call him "the demon" ... Because his sword skills terrify all the criminals in the capital. He usually spends his time off patrolling with his subordinates, or in his office in the garrison barracks. Gamal goes there to give another bribe... Due to his position, on weekends he leaves the barracks and spends the day drinking in the bars on the main street, not far from the palace. Akame is not allowed to go there since every kid there knows her.

- He can be killed by me too. - I remarked phlegmatically.

- Yes, that's what I was going to have you do. - Najenda sighed. - But Gamal is much simpler. He lives in a less affluent neighbourhood, so I'll leave him to Leona and Akama.

- Lucky you! - Leone clapped me on the shoulder. - You'll be fighting such a strong opponent!

- For me, he won't be a problem. - I said the same indifferently.

***

I smirked, and slid down from the roof to the alley. So the ogre decided to cut? I'm going to cut the thread of his life. He was accompanied by a couple of guards.

And then a wild idea struck me. And it was the word "naughty". It was also counterbalanced by common sense and the harm of my behaviour to further tasks, but... I was unstoppable.

I released the kagune, casting illusionary spells on it, and hooked my four tentacles onto the two balconies across from each other and swung down at the ogre from above. I swooped down on the ogre's head, instantly piercing the ogre's heart with my four remaining tentacles. At the same time, I glared at the guards, who were now one step away from being pantsed. Slowly, I bit off a piece of the ogre's neck with a growl.

- What the hell is that thing!??? - shrieked one of the guards, pointing his sword at me with trembling hands.

- I am the TOKYA CUROKEN..." I hissed. And through the mask, it came out really scary.

And then, I picked up the ogre's body with my tentacles, and flew back upstairs. The guards were screaming as they ran away.

***

I tore the ogre's torso as hard as I could, but left its face intact, and dumped it in one of the courtyards where it would be found tomorrow morning. By the way, the illusionary spell I cast on the hagoon was a simple makeover. So, for the guards, I killed the ogre with tentacles made entirely of blood.

I was sitting in one of the cafes, right next to the window, watching the guards scurrying back and forth. And not only that, almost everyone in that café was just talking about the "unthinkably scary and powerful Tokyo Kuroken".

Kuroken, that's the fan name for Kaneki by the Japanese in my world, sort of... So I decided to go with that name. By the way, it's amazing that the guards remembered my made-up name so clearly....

However, everything is bound to end, so I noticed that the guards started to look at my café strangely, so I put on my hood and went out through the back exit and climbed to the roof of the building, subsequently riding away from the capital.

***

- WHAT IS THIS, I'M ASKING YOU! ???? - screamed Najenda, shoving one of the leaflets in my face.

"CITIZENS, BE CAREFUL! THERE IS A DANGEROUS MONSTER IN THE CITY CALLED THE TOKYO KUROKEN! "FORCES HAVE ALREADY BEEN ASSIGNED TO ELIMINATE IT!"

Yeah... but they messed up with the picture. It wasn't a man with tentacles, it was some black, thin slug cyclops with a completely red eye, but no tentacles.

- It's a Tokyo kuroken. - I shrugged my shoulders.

- And you mean to tell me you don't know who it is? - Najenda glared at me with a single glare.

- Well... I don't know. - I answered, scratching the back of my head. - I killed the ogre. But then I scared the guards..." I smirked.

Akame glared at me, but it was only concern. Leone, on the other hand, was already squeaking hoarsely on the floor from the laughter that kept bursting out of her.

- KHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH..." Najenda expressed her formed opinion on the matter, clutching the edge of the table in her prosthetic.

"CRUSH."

I watched with regret as a piece of the said table flew behind Najenda's back, somehow accidentally heading towards Leone's head.

"BATS."

- OUCH!!! - A painful shriek was heard from the metamorph. Unfortunately, because of the large... because of Najenda, I couldn't see the girl.

- Commander, why are you getting so worked up, huh? Legend more, legend less, what's the difference? The mission, I completed. - I waved my hand, turning towards Akame.

Najenda hissed angrily, but she didn't object. There were plenty of things to object to. Like the fact that many of the targets wouldn't be walking around at night. Or at least not alone.

- Okay..." the woman said a little too calmly. - So, from now on, you, Kaneki, will be paired with Mein.

***

- Well, you've made quite a mess of things. - Mein grinned as she looked at the guards searching the alleyways.

- Shh..." I replied.

I didn't see any sense in the actions of the guards. Rather, the squads were sent, purely for looks, for the same people. And I bet my finger (which I'll grow back if necessary) that in a couple of days the authorities will say: "We've come to the conclusion that the Night Raid was the murderer".

I'm gonna have to turn up the heat. I won't leave any witnesses, though. I'm gonna kill one of these 10-man squads, and that'll be fine. I'm sure they'll send a Teigu owner on a further search, and then the first wave of benefits from my atrocities will come.

- Where are we going? - I asked thoughtfully.

- We need to go to a couple of shops... to buy a few things. - Maine replied, a little embarrassed.

- So... we don't have a goal, do we? - I raised an eyebrow.

- Mm-hmm... - Myne was even more embarrassed.

- Okay, I don't mind. - I shrugged. - I could use a distraction from killing, too.

Mein looked up at me in surprise.

- I thought... you were going to swear. - she explained.

- 'Pfft...' I quoted the sharingan vigilante.

Oh... still women's shopping is a wild thing. Even I, with my enormous stamina and patient nature (you can't praise yourself, no one will), had been drained dry by all the shopping.

Mein, however, was perfectly content, enthusiastically, leisurely eating a strawberry parfait of sorts. But geez... lugging around the shops until tonight.....

- I think I can sleep in the capital tonight. - the girl waved her hand nonchalantly.

- Did you have an alternative? - I squinted angrily.

- I'm going to take rooms in the hotel across the street. - Maine stood up and walked briskly toward the building in question.

I sighed, glancing at the empty glass of strawberries, then took one last sip of my coffee and headed off to cheer myself up.
