32 Chapter 30 —Ereshkigal

The backstory seems a bit far-fetched but it is what it is, also the story will not be about war and systems and I did that mostly to prevent Leo from using his bloodline and just sucking up any enemies and ending things monotonously.

After hearing her story Leo's expression became unconsciously melancholic.

Shizuka Nanahoshi was a normal third year high school student, not the prettiest in school but not bad looking either. She liked to read and was quite self-taught, so you could consider her a pretty sharp and capable girl.

She was having a discussion with her friends as they were returning from a club activity that ended late into the night when suddenly a truck was about to run over them and an obese man pushed them trying to save them but before they could hit the ground a bright light covered them.

After that all she remembers is that she was on this island with some instructions from the system explaining that she was chosen as his assistant and everything she must do.

Leo had bad experience with car accidents, listening to her story a part of him wondered why didn't a light show up for Mia? It was just a thought or maybe a wish but his longing showed in his eyes.

Shizuka knew that her story had unconsciously affected Leo so she wanted to cheer him up but before she could say anything, he had already pulled himself together.

With a mischievous smile Leo rested his chin on his hand and commented, "So you should feel lucky you didn't die in that accident? You' re locked up in the lion's den now though", he didn't mean it but seeing Shizuka dodge his gaze with a blush he thought maybe he went a little far with his joke, "Mm, let's see the message".

"Okay" Shizuka opened the chat without saying much.

"So, it's a video then?" Leo pointed out, "And on Earth Ereshkigal was the goddess of the underworld of the Mesopotamian culture, do you think she's the same?"

Leo didn't bother doubting anymore if she was a goddess or not, his own mother was one, but there were many gods from different worlds and some had the same names so it was hard to identify them just knowing their names.

"It certainly makes sense since she has influence over death and could have played a role in your reincarnation".

Shizuka opened the video and the hologram moved to a place with more space, then a light shone from its base and a figure showed itself along with a female voice sounding.

"Congratulations on activating the system, Leo-sama"

The sexy goddess was fading into the hologram that was about to disappear, but Leo didn't pay much attention to that as he was still in a daze with a smile painted on his face.

With those charming words she bowed again and the hologram faded out.

Shizuka had also heard everything and could understand why Leo was acting this way, smiling warmly she continued staring at him with love and tenderness in her eyes.

Who else could give him the system, seal his bloodline and hide his birth at the same time but his mother?
