1 New Beginnings

I slightly adjusted the bottom of my jacket as the teacher moved beside me and stood close. The muscular male Beta cleared his throat loudly and all noise in the room stopped. Each student turned at their tables to face the teacher directly.

I felt discomfort rising from my stomach as I noticed none of them even looked to me, rather at the teacher, even though I was beside him. My tie felt suffocating; definitely the worst part of this fu**ing monkey suit.

"Students," the teacher began as he gave me a side glance. "This is your new classmate, Calvin. Please treat him well." He stared down at me and I felt intimidated. "There's an open seat in the third row, by the window."

I nodded, "yes, sir." I rushed back to my spot, avoiding eye contact as my classmates all gawked at me.

I sat down and listened quietly as the teacher rambled on about a book they had been reading. My attention went to the window and I unconsciously began moving the ring on my middle finger, with the feeling of the thin metal ban making me feel slightly better.

I ignored the class as I tried to keep from walking out, but got pulled out of my thoughts when a bell rang. I looked to the skinny male Beta beside me as he passed something to me.

He smiled slightly, "you can take a picture of my notes. You'll probably need 'em." His dark eyes locked on mine for a moment.

"Thank you."

He nodded, "I'm Liam Bower." I rushed to take photos of his work before handing his notes to him. "Nice to meet you, Calvin."

I nodded as I stood and followed behind him as he left the room. I froze in my tracks as I heard a familiar voice.

"Calvin!" Ava called as I looked down the hall. The group of male and female Betas around her stared me down as she rushed over to me.

I hesitated to move as I didn't know what she might do. She stopped right in front of me and took my hand in hers, "you finally got here! I was worried when dad said you wouldn't ride with us this morning."

My nervousness increased as I realized everyone was looking at us. Some watched with surprise and some with annoyance. "Sorry, I was running late."

She smiled and let out her small giggle she made when she was pleased. "I missed you!"

"Who is this?" A large male Alpha hissed as he came over to us and yanked Ava's hand off of me to claim it for himself.

She sighed, "this is Calvin. I told you about him."

"The Omega's kid?" He asked with a hideous smirk toward me.

"Yes," I replied with a confident grin. "Nice to meet you...uh...sorry, I never leaned your name."

"He's our childhood friend, Henry. He lives a few doors down from our house."

I turned to Liam as his hand was set on my shoulder and I saw him glaring at the Alpha. He turned and smiled towards me, "that means you live a few doors down from me also."

"Mutt," a deep voice growled and, before I could turn to see him, a hand smacked the back of my head. "Get out of my way, you freak."

"Grayson!" Ava hissed, "stop calling him that!"

"He's the child of a MALE OMEGA! " He stated as loud as he could without yelling. Everyone gawked at me as my glance went to the ground. "Move out of the way."

I took in a hard breath before walking past him and the other Alphas in his posse. I stormed down the hallway as hot tears filled my eyes. I continued until I found a large door labeled 'no entry'.

Perfect, I thought as I let out a sigh of relief. I pushed the heavy door open and made my way up a staircase. They led to another heavy door that I opened to show the school roof.

I found a spot around the corner from the door in a shady spot with a breeze and got comfortable. I pulled out my pack and lighter and began smoking to relieve the stress. I closed my eyes and focused on trying to relax.

A loud commotion came from the door to the roof and I groaned. Why'd I have to be caught on my first day? I was surprised when a trio of students came around the corner. They all froze and looked at me with equal surprise.

"Who're you? You shouldn't be up here."

I smiled slightly, "neither should you." The tall female Alpha glared at me.

"The new kid, Calvin," the short, thin built female Beta stated as he watched me. "Just started today."

"Why're you up here alone?"

I glanced to the tall, large built male Alpha before looking back to my cigarette. I smiled slightly and gestured towards it before watching as they sat somewhat nearby, but not close to me.

I closed my eyes for a bit and only opened one as something blocked the sunlight shining on me. A thin built, feminine male Beta stood in front of me. He seemed to be analyzing me and had a scrunched face. "You don't look like a Beta."

I flicked my cigarette before smirking to him, "and you don't look like a Beta." He frowned as I noticed the rest of the students on the roof were tuned in and watching us.
