Chapter 7: Memories of a New World pt.2

Evan, which he decided to refer to himself as in order to prevent a slip of tongue, attempted to remember information about the world he landed himself in and well, boy was there quite a bit to go through.

There are 7 continents, just like there was on Earth. Each continent has a predominant race, but anyone can live anywhere. There is simply a higher chance of discrimination occurring. There have been plenty of wars, which is no surprise, however the human kingdom has admittedly been in the most wars. Some of which were with themselves.

The first continent is the human kingdom, known as Astoria. It is ruled by King Arnold Holland and Queen Liseria Holland. They currently have two heirs to the kingdom, firstborn Lyle Holland, who was the current crown prince, and Lucia Holland, the crown princess. Astoria did not discriminate on the basis of gender whatsoever, therefore the throne normally went to who was the better fit as a ruler overall. The current rulers have been said to be the best over the course of the last 500 years, as Astoria has had plenty of problems. There are also five countries within Astoria: Noar, Loke, Okaen, Sentil, and Wohoa. Evan and his family lived in Sentil, the least modernized of the five. In terms of special traits, humans could only really wield magic, if they had the right genes. Unlike other races, humans were not exactly unique because all races could wield magic, which has led to plenty of envy over the years.

The second continent, Floras, is the elven kingdom. It is led by Kings Septis and Nova Foa. The current heir to the throne is Julies Foa. Within Floras, there are two different sub-species to the elven race overall, the Solaris and the Fae. The Solaris are elves with a higher affinity to light magic, as well as being able to understand animals. The Fae on the other hand, have a higher affinity to elemental based magic and can communicate with plants and the like. One unique trait the Fae have are being able to get pregnant regardless of gender, so the elven kingdom has no issue with same-sex love/marriage. Floras has only two countries: Sundal and Peiz. Overall, Floras is the most stunning out of all the continents.

The third continent is the home of the beastmen, which is known as Basteti. It is ruled by Queen Orella Líoñ, with her heir being her son, Terries Líoñ. If the last name wasn't already a dead giveaway, the current rulers are from the clan of the lions. What they say about lions being the king of the jungle holds true in this world. Basteti has an outrageous amount of countries, with each section being home to specific animal clans. Almost every kind of animal, which are surprisingly the same as those on earth (aside from a few weird subspecies), has its own place. Each clan has its own unique abilities depending on the animal they are descended from, but all beastmen have enhanced strength as a perk. Unlike the other continents/kingdoms, Basteti works on the basis of a dog-eat-dog world. Queen Orella is the fiercest woman in the land and she takes no bs from anyone. She was Evan's role model, until his family was persecuted and resentment for any beastmen festered deep within his soul.

The fourth continent was the kingdom of the merman/mermaids, Oceanus. It's the only continent to be submerged underwater and yet, is able to perfectly compete with the land dwellers. The current ruler is actually the crown princess, Ura Atlais. Her parents, the king and queen, had passed away in an accident or at least, that's what was told to the masses. Ura was unable to automatically take up the mantle of queen, as her parent's last wish was for her to find happiness first and get married. Despite being the crown princess and on the younger side at 16 years old, she is adored by the masses. Merman and mermaids both have the traits of a siren, which is usually seen as something evil and tempting in most modern day fantasy books on Earth, but that's not the case in this world. Ura has the strongest siren abilities currently, something she prides herself on. The higher one's abilities are, the more revered they are.

The fifth continent, Masain, is the kingdom of the demons. For a long time, the other kingdoms had issues with the demons because they feared what they could. They had access to the abilities of necromancers, a practice most frowned up, as well as being able to wield the darkest of magics. Eventually, after one of the most pointless wars in history, the rest of the kingdoms realized that there was no reason to create animosity with a group of people who could easily take them down. The kingdom was far different from the others, for it was ruled by multiple families who remained anonymous to prevent assassination attempts. However, there have been rumors of one demon rising above the rest and aiming to rule over all demons.

The sixth continent is the kingdom of the dwarves, Ophinx. It is ruled by Queens Resa and Mora Nas. The dwarven kingdom has no current heir because the next king or queen is chosen through a special blacksmithing competition that throws candidates into a variety of trials, ranging from leadership to understanding materials exclusive to the crown. The dwarves had some of the most helpful abilities, which included a higher affinity to fire, better senses for locating minerals in the dark, and better eyesight to pick out the right materials needed to create amazing works of art. Plenty of stories on Earth have described dwarves as tiny blacksmiths, but the reality is that a majority of dwarves are more than just blacksmiths, instead they are amazing craftsmen of all trades. From dress makers to spear builders, there is nothing that they cannot create. The entire continent of Ophinx is also one single country, also being the second smallest continent. Despite its size, the people of the country make a big statement.

The last continent is the smallest continent and is honestly more of a country than anything else. It's known as Soe and it's the home of the Magic Academy of the Hopeful. In order to keep itself a safe space for all its students, regardless of race and conflicts, the academy declared itself its own continent.

After having gotten a good grasp on the world around him, Evan walked towards the door to his room and opened it up, slowly bringing himself downstairs. He wasn't sure what to expect but, he needed a better understanding of his/Evan's parents.
