I’m straight I tell you! STRAIGHT!

Updates Mon/Fri, unless i’m fairly busy. In that case, I will only upload on either Mon or Fri. Jacob Trennings was your ordinary guy who was fairly content with his life. He had a loving wife, a happy family, and enough money to not have to truly worry when it came to possible future kids...or at least he thought he did. Hit with the largest betrayal of his life, Jacob wakes up in a body not of his own whose past is confusing at best, with memories that make absolutely no sense. The life of the new Evan Renelli is bound to be a whirlwind of events. His new family is suspicious at times and suddenly, he has to deal with not just an entirely new world that is so far removed from the one he lived in before, with similarities that seem realistic but really aren’t, but also magic, new races, and ...a mysterious man?!? Evan (Jacob): Hey wait a second!! I’m straight, stop chasing me!! ???: Hm?~ Yet you get so flustered around me, are you sure that you’re just “straight”. Evan: ...i’ll show you.. -credit towards the artist for the picture used-

Chapter 41: Dumb Crystal (Soe)

Currently, Evan was in a stare-off of sorts with the tiny crystal he purchased, as he wanted to understand what exactly he bought. The seller marketed the product as just a tiny crystal with nothing special about it, yet that isn't the case at all.

Recently, the crystal has begun changing colors at times, specifically to both ruby red and pure white. All it does is remind Evan of the handsome bastard who harassed him.

Groaning, the small male plops onto his bed, unwilling to deal with the day. He had classes tomorrow but the thought of going made him sad. Evan no longer feels like he is studying to learn about the world but instead to be some savior that might end up screwing everything up.

On top of that, his parents have apparently left their home and have gone to a neighboring continent, but told him that it was going to be a 'surprise'. A bit caught off guard, the male had pestered his parents constantly about where they were going, finding it weird that they would leave during a time of uncertainty in Astoria.

All that does is make his worst fears come true, such as something happened to his small town or the protests of sorts has reached Sentil. However, his parents were especially tight-lipped, only telling Evan that his father was going to visit an old friend.

He had a fairly stressful time during the cultural festival despite the enjoyment he felt, simply because Evan felt as though things were going to happen that he wasn't entirely prepared for. His mental health has also been a bit on the decline, making him feel as though maybe he needed a break from everything.

The cultural festival was supposed to be his break and yet it wasn't, which lead to his next week of classes feeling overwhelming. Miss Y has been hammering in new types of spells into his system left and right. Evan is surprised he can remember even half of them. Luckily, he had his friends to help him out with his stress.

Cole has been bringing snacks and gossip almost every single day, distracting him from the feeling of drowning. The elf understood that he wasn't in the best mind-frame and therefore refrained from stressing him out.

Osser has also been a surprising pillar of strength, by simply staying with him in the library even if no words come to fruition. It was surprising for Evan, who firmly believed that the tall male would never hang out with him without Cole being around. That all stemmed from the fact that the merman acted hostile towards him at times for no apparent reason and sometimes makes him feel like some third-wheel.

However, those quiet hours in the library just researching more about the world and what his future might become- after he fulfills the damned prophecy- in the end bring him a needed sense of peace. He can't go back to his world and he doesn't plan on dying prematurely whatsoever. Instead, he wants to focus on finding something that will make him feel like he can completely assimilate into the world he is in.

Sighing into his fluffy pillow, Evan slowly lifts up his head and looks back at the crystal, which continues to glow as if all is well. His eyes rapidly narrow at it, before hardening into a stern glare. As if able to sense his glare, the crystal glows far brighter for just a second before going back to a smaller glow.

Getting up from his bed, Evan stretches a bit, finding his limbs to feel locked up after having stared at the crystal for some time and from having laid down. His arms make a small popping sound as he fully stretches out, a small moan leaving his lips.

Rubbing his droopy eyes, Evan decides that a walk is in order so that he can further clear his head. Grabbing his phone and key, Evan leaves his room with a small smile on his face, excited at the prospect of having the sun on his body.

As he leaves his building, Evan takes in the atmosphere surrounding him. The air is soft on his skin, while a light breeze flutters in his hair. Some students are walking around the campus, enjoying the wonderful weather that is often lost due to the time of the year.

Evan's legs bring him towards the far edge of campus, where many of the older students usually gathered for a variety of activities. He noticed that Cole was there, which wasn't entirely surprising. The elf had always been a social butterfly and just clicked with people in a way Evan felt he never could.

"Evvy~! My dear prince, where have you been?!" Cole's voice rang through the area, instantly bringing attention to himself. Just a bit uncomfortable with all of the eyes suddenly on his person, Evan waved at Cole. "I've been in my dorm room, just relaxing." The smaller man answers a bit quietly, somewhat emphasizing his less than ideal emotional state.

In response to his answer, Cole comes towards him and gives him a warm hug that makes Evan feel safe. Sighing happily, Evan brings his arms around his taller friend, intent on soaking up more of that warmth before it inevitably gets away from him.

"Have you been doing alright?" A whisper floats into Evan's left ear, making him shiver just a bit. A small grin appears on his face as he takes in the concern from his friend. "Yeah, I have been doing better thanks to you and Osser, I should be alright in a few days." He whispers back, intent on making his gratitude apparent as he subtly uses his magic on his friend.

A small blessing of luck, something he had learnt recently, all for his dear friend and his love life. He hopes Cole will find his perfect match, but his friend has seemed to be lacking in the romance department.

Had Cole heard his thoughts in that moment, he would have spluttered indignantly.

I really am trying my best to get chapters done on time but school always comes first. This chapter is more filler-based but builds upon the side-plot of Evan’s depression!

The next chapter will go be featured in Masain and the ML!
