I’m straight I tell you! STRAIGHT!

Updates Mon/Fri, unless i’m fairly busy. In that case, I will only upload on either Mon or Fri. Jacob Trennings was your ordinary guy who was fairly content with his life. He had a loving wife, a happy family, and enough money to not have to truly worry when it came to possible future kids...or at least he thought he did. Hit with the largest betrayal of his life, Jacob wakes up in a body not of his own whose past is confusing at best, with memories that make absolutely no sense. The life of the new Evan Renelli is bound to be a whirlwind of events. His new family is suspicious at times and suddenly, he has to deal with not just an entirely new world that is so far removed from the one he lived in before, with similarities that seem realistic but really aren’t, but also magic, new races, and ...a mysterious man?!? Evan (Jacob): Hey wait a second!! I’m straight, stop chasing me!! ???: Hm?~ Yet you get so flustered around me, are you sure that you’re just “straight”. Evan: ...i’ll show you.. -credit towards the artist for the picture used-

Chapter 27: How Can This Be?!?

A few weeks have passed since the first day of classes and Evan feels as exhausted as ever, feeling like a zombie going through the motions.

He's constantly spoken to his parents, still feeling worried over the riots happening in Astoria. Evan's not even sure if they are still happening as his parents had been frustratingly vague about the whole situation. Plus, as the academy is considered to be neutral grounds, large news outlets aren't circulated in order to keep the students focused on school related matters. Evan doesn't really agree with that whole notion, as the only way to now know about any situation is by knowing someone who lives on that continent. However, he can't really do much about it at the moment, putting it on the back burner for a later date.

On the other hand, not everything has been as bad as not knowing what's happening back at home.

His magic has improved exponentially, allowing him to bless more than one person at a time. He can now use buff, debuff, heal, and a few other spells. If explained in simpler words, imagine if someone's stats were 10's across the board. Evan can bring many of those stats up to another 5 but they only last for around 5 minutes. It may not be the most amazing on paper, but if someone is fighting against another person in a fairly matched battled, his blessings would be extremely helpful. Evan has really enjoyed his magic lessons, but the academic ones are another story.

Mr. Holland teaches in such an obscure way that Evan often finds himself intrigued but overall confused. He studies on his own far more because of that along with Cole, who is also struggling in his own right. The other teachers are alright, but some of them bore him to death. You'd think learning in a new world would bring extremely interesting subjects but, school seemingly stays the same no matter where you are.

Evan has also found himself closer to Osser after weeks of being ignored. He didn't think they'd get close to one another whatsoever, but they bonded during a dueling exercise with teams. The point of these exercises is to prepare the students in case a war breaks out because even if they have magic, if they can't use it effectively, it can be fairly useless. The two of them were paired up against an instructor and needed to work together to get a passing score. While doing so, they learned that they aren't too different from one another, which made Evan happy as his only friends at the academy are Cole and Yan, as well as Osser now.

Currently, Evan is lounging around in Cole's dorm, with Cole telling him all the latest gossip. "Hey hey, did you know that apparently Mr.Holland and Miss Y apparently have a history of sorts. Does that make Miss Y a cougar?!?" Cole gasps at his own realization, while Evan just groans. "I could care less about my professors personal lives, especially with ones who I see every single day." He sighs, but quickly notices the excited expression on Cole's face. He doesn't trust that look at all. "Hey~ Why don't you ask Miss Y? Hmm~ You are probably her favorite student." Cole jumps onto Evan, which causes him to crunch his body in pain. "NO! No I will not ask my teacher that. Miss Y is sadistic as hell, she would probably throw me into a pit of lava for even asking the question!! Do you want me to die a fiery death?!?" He yells out, baffled by the suggestion. Cole just bursts out laughing, "Hah! You'd be thrown into lava anyways, might as well go for if." He winks a bunch, as if trying to transfer his amazing idea into Evan's head.

Evan just slaps Cole on the back of his head, "Is that the only gossip you have for me today? You cried when I wouldn't come here at first to listen to you and told me you heard something amazing but..I have doubts." Cole pouts at the notion that Evan is doubting his a m a z i n g gossiping skills so he gives in. "Fineeeeee, there is something else going around. Apparently, there's a girl who transferred in with the magic of the moon, which is super duper rare, and has wrapped plenty of noble men or royalty around her fingers. If you speak poorly about her, your life could be ruined~." He whispers the last part, as if warning Evan against being an asshole to someone he barely knows. "You do know I wouldn't do that, right? I could care less about a transfer student, I have my own bs to worry about."

"Awhhh, cmon, she's usually by the large fountain in the middle of campus." Cole continues to pout while pulling Evan's arm in an attempt to get him to move. Unfortunately for Evan, he isn't as strong as Cole is so he gets utterly dragged off the bed. "Fine, we can go see this girl. Are you into her or something?" Evan questions, not understanding why Cole wants to see the girl at all. "Hm? Nah, but I wanna see if she's an angel of sorts to have all those powerful guys wrapped around her finger. "He states, proud of his reasoning.

The two walk over to the fountain slowly, chatting about how their classes have been to pass the time. The campus is stupidly large so it takes a while to get anywhere, leaving students to wake up earlier than normal just to get to class on time.

When they arrive at the fountain, Cole latches onto his right arm. "Ah! There she is!" Cole points out a girl surrounded by beauti- above average guys. The second Evan looks over, he feels the air being sucked out of him and an oncoming panic attack.

He can't breathe, his eyes are blurry and the world is slowly closing in around him. Cole is yelling at him, wanting to know what's wrong, but Evan can't answer. His mind is hyper focused on the Mary Ann look-alike standing near the fountain, giggling at the guys surrounding her. He wants to scream out and damn her to hell, even if the person just coincidentally looks the same.

"Wh-what's h-her name?!" Evan chokes out, worrying Cole even more. He's never seen his friend like this. "Ah uh, her name is Mary Sia." He says and watches as his friends face pales even further. Unsure of what to do, he decides to pick Evan up and leave, planning to ask questions about what the hell just happened later.

Anger beings coursing through his veins. He knows they might be a different person but it's hard to separate the two because they look exactly the same, the only difference being the elven ears. Evan hadn't healthily got over what happened to him, choosing to live his new life with the exception of remembering his old parents.

He will never speak to that girl, no matter whether she is actually his murderous ex or not. With that final thought, Evan finally passes out on Cole's shoulders.

*Edited to add in bits about the riots, will be further explained in a later chapter*

oh ho, surpRISE. Is it actually Mary Ann?? Is it just a coincidence?!? That won’t be answered for some time but she’ll be the first positive or negative obstacle in Evan’s journey to completing the prophecy.

Enjoy~
