Chapter 42: I Have A Thing For Bad Girls

Charles' POV: I was confused. If the comb broke then that means Jade has the dark magic inside of her. I looked at her with a concerned expression and asked, "Jade, did you break the comb?" A tear ran down Jade's face as she said, "I didn't want you to know..." Then she bolted out of the house faster than we could watch. I said to everyone, "I'll go find her!" I ran out the door and decided to check the first few places she could be right now. First I checked the hospital Incase she was stealing blood. She wasn't there. Then I checked the bar, I can't really say I was shocked to see no sign of her there. I had an idea on where she would be, I got in my car and drove to her house. Once I got there I opened the door and searched the entire house, Jade wasn't there either. Where the hell did she go? I sat down for a moment and tried to think of where she could be. Then I figured it out, Jade's at Ashtons house! I drove to the address I still had in my car and once I got there I parked a block away so they wouldn't see or hear me coming. I stopped right outside the house and listened, I heard Jade talking to Ashton about the dark magic. I knew I shouldn't have, but I had to. I stood without moving so I could listen to their conversation. I heard Jade say with a muffled, crying voice, "Ashton, I don't know what to do. I broke the glass hair comb, I have all the darkness inside of me and I don't know how to get rid of it. I've been told what happens to people that use dark magic, they either kill or get killed. I don't want that to happen to me. It's like...I have the urge to kill someone, every time I'm around a human all I can think about is ripping into their neck and feeding on them until they're dead!" Ashton asked, "Please, just don't do it to me!" Jade halfway laughed through her tears and answered, "I would never hurt you Ashton. It's just that I feel like I can't control myself anymore. When I get upset I get angry, when I'm hungry I feel like murdering someone. I'm pretty sure the only thing holding me together right now is Charles, he keeps my mind off of it and I feel fine with him, but he probably hates me or is disappointed in me. I can't handle that!" I peeked through the slightly opened window without them noticing and I saw Ashton pull Jade into a hug. She hugged him back but I saw her eyes glowing red, her fangs were out and she wanted to tear him apart. I could see it in her face. She was trying to fight it, but after a few seconds she whispered to Ashton, "I'm sorry." Before he could say anything else she bit into his neck. I quickly ran around to the front door and opened it aggressively. I ran into the living room where they were at and I ripped Jade off of Ashton. I hurried and compelled him to forget what happened and I ran with Jade at vampire speed out the door. I threw her in my car and locked the doors. Jade's crying had stopped and she said in a moody tone, "What are you doing here!" I replied, "I'm here to help you, Jade." Jade rolled her eyes and said, "Like there's anything you can do. It's witch business, you're a vampire. And besides, I'm fine!" I placed my hand on Jade's shoulder and turned her head so she was facing me. I then said, "Look at me Jade. You're going to get through this, I promise. I'll help you and we can do whatever it takes. Anything that helps..." I layed my hand on Jade's thigh and she looked down. She then replied, "I don't want to be like this Charles. I feel broken." I smiled and said, "Well, if I'm being totally honest with you Jade...I have a thing for bad girls!" Jade smirked and said, "Then I guess you can't get mad at what I'm about to do..." I thought Jade was talking about something else, but she reached over for the car door and ripped it off the hinges...

Jade's POV: I bolted out the car. I didn't want Charles to be disappointed with me for what just happened with Ashton. To be honest, I was a mess. Once Elizabeth revealed to everyone that I was under the influence of black magic reality hit me like a bus. I could end up hurting someone or kill someone, and when I realized that, it made the urge to do it even stronger. I went to the bar to escape what I'd just done and I ordered a drink. I got a glass of whiskey to drown out the thoughts of killing when and man walked up to me. He looked about his mid thirties. I know he was old, but he wasn't that bad looking. Before I paid for my drink he offered and did it for me. I smiled and said, "Thank you." He smiled back and said, "Anything for a beautiful woman such as yourself. I'm Brian." I fake smiled at the man and replied, "I'm Jade." Brian started examining my face and my body as he quickly asked, "How old are you Jade?" I raised an eyebrow at his question and answered, "I'm 18 today, but shhh...don't tell anyone!" We laughed a little and I turned my head to see if anyone else was at the bar, only the bartender. I heard a tiny clink, I turned back around Brian and went to pick up my drink. He smiled and was watching my drink the whole time. Right before I brought it to my lips I smelled something that wasn't whiskey. Brian was trying to rufei me. Since I'm a vampire I could easily sense it in my drink. The smell brought me back to when Talia would visit my dad and I in California and we'd sneak off to the basement and do drugs. Then, because I was thinking off Talia, I thought of how she left me and so did my mother. I set my drink down and took a deep breath, trying not to cry. Brian looked up and said, "What's wrong sweetheart? I think a drink will help you feel better!" He pointed time my glass. I plastered a fake smile on my face and replied, "You know what, I do think a drink would help." I closed my eyes for a second trying to figure it out. Then I did. I flipped my humanity switch! No more emotions means no more feeling bad about my family leaving me. I opened my eyes and said, "Actually. I'm not really feeling a drink right now." Brian kept urging me to drink the drugged alcohol. I stood up and he did at the same time, along with my drink. I once again held it up to my lips and said, "I have an idea. Would you like to make today my best birthday ever?" I sounded so innocent that nobody would think of me as a vampire. Brian smirked all seductively and answered, "What'd you have in mind?" He put one hand on my waist and reached the other around to my ass. Before he made it there I grabbed his hand while leaning over and whispering in his ear, "Rufeing a child's drink? Bad move. If you wanted to sleep with me you should've just said so. Now I'm forced to retaliate..." Brian, unable to remove his hand from my grip, replied, "I don't think you can do much about it sweetheart!" I fake smiled and said, "Well then you underestimate me Brian. I'm very dangerous!" He thought I was joking, trying to be sexy, and he replied, "I don't believe you. I suppose you'll just have to show me!" I giggled and said, "Well...you asked for it..." I broke his hand and bit into his neck. After satisfying my need for blood, for now, I looked Brian in the eye and said, "Don't worry, I'm not going to kill you." He looked scared and asked, "What the hell are you!" I smiled and answered, "I'm a heretic!" Without another word from his annoying mouth I snapped his neck...
