Chapter 41: A New Life
Charles' POV: I've spent the day doing nothing but sitting in my bedroom and drinking. Blood and booze. Elizabeth still has her boyfriend over here, Daniel and Audrey have been at the bar all day mourning Nathaniel, and since Nora Lee, Ariana, and Jade have all been out of town who knows when they'll get back. It could be tonight or tomorrow or a few days from now. I honestly have no idea. I would call them, but they're probably having some girl time, I don't want to ruin it for any of them. I guess I'll just stay here until they get back...
Jade's POV: I'm alive. For the first time in the past few months I feel...alive. I woke up very calmly and I turned over to face Nora and Ariana. I asked, "Did it work? Am I a heretic?" Nora smiled and Ariana looked upset but she'll get over it. Nora then said, "Let's find out..." then she ran out of the room, when she returned there was a blood bag in her hands. She opened it and held it up to my mouth. I grabbed it and started drinking it, I did not think much about it, it just tasted so good. I finished the entire blood bag and when I looked up I said to Ariana and Nora, "I want more..." I could sense the veins underneath my eyes and I felt the fangs dart out of my mouth! Nora and Ariana smiled and said, "Why don't we get you a proper meal." I smiled and we left the house. We arrived in the middle of town, here they called it 'The Quarter' and I wasn't worried about any eye witnesses on me feeding. There was to many people to even notice the person standing next to you. Ariana said, "Pick one." I scanned the huge crowd of people and found a man. I could hear him talking to a woman and trying to get her to go home with him, she was refusing but he wasn't taking no for an answer. I didn't like what I was hearing so I walked over there and said to the man, "Where did you come from? I'd love to take you out sometime!" He smiled and told the other woman to go away. Once she left I looked into the mans eyes and with a smile I said, "Don't scream." I'm surprised I was able to compel him. I guess I'm a fast learner. I quickly bit into his neck and drank some blood. The satisfaction of his blood was enough to last a lifetime...but I wanted more. I continued to drink without a sign of letting go. Eventually I felt a hand grab my shoulder. I turned around and said, "What!" Nora raised her eyebrows and said, "Show a little restraint Jade. You don't want to kill him!" I tilted my head and replied, "What it I do!" Ariana cut in and answered, "Then Charles would never forgive you. Why don't we just head home for the night and go home tomorrow!" I rolled my eyes and turned back to the man and compelled him to forget what happened. Then we went back to Arianas house and went to bed...
THE NEXT MORNING
I woke up feeling fresh and recharged. Nobody else was awake so I decided to just take a shower. Once I got done I did my hair and a little bit of makeup and got dressed. Once I got out I saw Ariana and Nora had gotten ready too. We headed out the door and got to the airport. Then we boarded the plane and rode first class the entire way. I compelled one of the flight attendants to come sit with me and whenever I felt like it I bit into her wrist and drank some of her blood. Not to much, after all Nora was right, I don't want to kill anyone. Our flight was just about to land so before we got off I filled up a plastic cup with blood and stuck a lid on it with a straw. We got off and drove back to the Suliman house. Once we got in I made sure I had no blood on me and Charles met us downstairs. He smiled and said, "I was very bored while you were gon- is that blood in your hands?" Shit. I was for sure busted. I didn't want him to know like this. Thank god for Ariana, she cut in and said, "Actually, I was just having her hold it for a moment while I brought my bags inside. I'll take it now Jade, thank you." I immediately fake smiled and said, "You're welcome." Charles smiled again and said, "Will you come upstairs with me for a moment Jade?" I bit my lip slightly and replied, "Alright." I turned my head back to Ariana and Nora who were smiling like crazy. I ignored them and walked upstairs with Charles. When I got there I saw most of my stuff there. It was like a beautiful combination of both our things in one room. I smiled widely and he said, "Do you like it?" I turned to him and said, "I love it!" He quickly replied, "Now we can live together for awhile!" I smiled hopefully when I said, "What about forever!" Charles dropped his smile and said, "Jade. I'm not going to turn you into a vampire. You'll become a-" I cut in, "A heretic...I know." Charles looked very confused now so I continued, "Charles...I want to tell you something." "Anything. What is it?" He replied. I took a deep breath and looked down. I felt the blood rush and the veins forming under my now glowing red eyes. Charles couldn't see yet, he turned my face up toward him and his jaw dropped. With a straight face I said to Charles, "I'm already a heretic!" Without another word Charles ran downstairs and I quickly followed behind him. He held Ariana and Nora up against the wall and yelled, "WHAT DID YOU TWO DO TO HER!" I ran up behind Charles and to stop him from tearing their throats out I pushed him against the wall, I said in a loud, yet sincere, voice, "I wanted this Charles. I asked Nora to turn me. Now we can be together forever! Don't be mad at them. If you're going to be mad at anyone be mad at me, they just did what I asked!" I let go of Charles and he stroked the side of my face and said, "I'm sorry Jade. I didn't mean to be so harsh. I just don't want you to have the same fate all heretics have!" I smiled and replied, "I know that they always end up dead, but we have now. Isn't that enough?" Charles put his hand on my neck and said, "You're always more than enough for me Jade. I love you, heretic or human, you're perfect no matter what!" I smiled widely and said, "I love you too Charles!" He slowly pulled me in by the waist and kissed me. Once he pulled away he looked upstairs and back at me, then he raised an eyebrow and smiled. I looked over at Nora and Ariana and held a finger up to my mouth and whispered, "Shhhhh." They got the hint and Charles and I went upstairs. For some reason, the fact that his entire family is inside this house didn't even matter. All that mattered was Charles, me, and right now! We get to be together forever, or however long I have as a heretic...
