1 Centuries ago...

In an underground facility.

Wires, tanks and tubes filled with yellow-green liquids were arranged in a systematic order. They were placed in different locations, each tank housed a blurry creature, that was not completely visible due to the thick liquids.

The underground facility had lights that shone brightly, the walls were pure white concrete.

Many personnel dressed in white lab coats moved around the facility, performing different functions allocated to them.

Suddenly, the metallic gate opening into the facility was pushed open.

A man hurriedly strode inside, an expression of worry plastered over his face. His shoulder length brown hair and crystal eyes of the same colour, coupled with his handsome angular white face made him appear especially meticulous.

As he entered the facility, each passing scientist greeted him.

"Good afternoon sir."

"Good afternoon..."

The man dismissed these greetings as he was in no mood to entertain them. He went straight to a short old man who was working on a test tube.

"Will, what is the progress?" The young man asked the old scientist.

Old William noticing the man turned to look at him. He smiled slightly and said in an expecting tone.

"One out of all the subjects is showing signs of success. Although, the progress is slow, I am confident in its success."

The frown on the young man's face deepened.

"I am afraid we might have to cancel this project all together," he said.

"Cancel!?" The old scientist was clearly not pleased by the news. "What do you mean!? After so much hardwork, this project is finally showing signs of success. If this is cancelled, it would not be possible to restart it ever again. You know the blood of the vampire king has been consumed, we can't reproduce it!"

The man narrowed his eyes, the facts he was hearing weren't something new. He was acutely aware of everything, but situation had tied his hands.

"I know Will, I know. But the family financing us has suddenly decided to pull back their resources and want to erase all traces of this experiment. I heard they have found a way to evolve their bloodline ability to grade 7. So, this experiment is definitely a loss for them, as it can put their reputation in the world at stake." The young man explained with a deep sigh.

"Grade 7? That would put them at the top of the world. If that is the case then, I understand, but..." The old scientist shifted his gaze towards one particular tank. This tank contained a humanoid baby, roughly at the age of 1 month.

"...Look at how beautiful he is. I am sure he would have been undefeatable if he had the chance of coming into the world." The voice of the scientist had a tinge of sadness laced with it.

"Ofcourse he would have. He could have been the most remarkable creature to ever exist. A true hybrid between the strongest races to walk the surface of this planet!" The young man displayed signs of ecstaticity as the words left his mouth.

"Indeed. Only the shadow dragon DNA was compatible with the vampire DNA. To have both on our hands was truly a miracle of nature. Even though these races have been extinct for over a millennia, we had just enough of them with us today to create this remarkable creature." The old man muttered.

"But alas, we could not see this through. If only we had just a bit more time, we could have birthed this god into the mortal plane." The young man lowered his head while saying, he felt incredibly sad.

After all, he had spent a decade of his life on this project, now it was being shut down without bearing any fruits. It was only normal for him to be disheartened.

"Is there really no other way Ciel?" William asked, just thinking about the end of his hardwork brought him pain. As the man behind the experiment, he had put in far more work than Ciel.

"I am afraid not. We are lucky they aren't killing all of us off to keep this entire project a secret." Ciel said.

"We still can't be sure, but if I am being honest, I would have gladly given my life for the success of this project."

"I know Will. You are one crazy fellow, I am still unsure if you will try something crazy to preserve this project."

"Haha... You know me too well my old friend. But even I don't know if my soul would stay at rest knowing the things we could have achieved."

"Let it rest old man, don't try anything crazy." Ciel warned.

"Hahaha... We will see. We will see."
