Chapter 10
Four hundred years have passed since that night, and Hybreed has struggled to move on while fighting in some of the world's most gruesome and brutal wars throughout history including the Revolutionary war, the American civil war, World War I and II, Vietnam, the Korean war, desert storm and the war in Afghanistan just to name a few. Haunted by the awful memories, Hybreed has always found ways to meditate including visiting the ancient burial grounds called Righrean, which means "royalty" in Gaelic Irish and is where past kings and queens have been laid to rest. With each passing day, he becomes stronger and more powerful as his time of becoming king is drawing near. During one of his training sessions, Hybreed, along with Konnor, Nikita and Jasper, train a new batch of young warriors. However, Hybreed notices the trainees are not focusing and are getting more aggressive with each other than usual. To discipline them, Hybreed steps in to challenge them on their teamwork. The four trainees all rush in for the attack, but Hybreed is much quicker, stronger and agile as he is able to outsmart all four of them.
Hybreed: A warrior uses his instincts. The desire to win a fight, but not the will to do so. He relies on his fellow warriors, they set up a plan to box their enemy in for the kill!
With each word, he takes one of the trainees down.
Hybreed: You will learn the basics of teamwork and of combat! Turning on each other will do nothing but show the enemy you are weak! Fight among yourselves, and you may as well surrender and become their servants.
The trainees begin to lose control, but Konnor, Nikita and Jasper back Hybreed up and they quickly back down. To show what they need to do, Hybreed has Jasper face him in a showdown. They both begin to train with Jasper showing how much his skills and powers have increased and progressed in the last four hundred years. However, during the session, Hybreed starts to have flashbacks of that night and tries to see Katherine. This allows Jasper to take him down and pin him.
Jasper: Yield.
However, Hybreed, not allowing himself to be defeated, overpowers Jasper and is able to apply a submission hold that makes him surrender. Releasing his grip and taking a moment to collect his thoughts, he turns to look at his fellow comrades and family. A distant howling is heard, and they begin running through the woods to return home. As they make the trek back, a pack of grey wolves joins them. Hybreed begins to pick up his speed and as they come into an opening, everyone falls back. He stands atop the opening overlooking the town and lets out a roar!
