16 Ch15 Bonds X Formed

Akira, Anita, and Ponzu sat down at the table, ready to enjoy the breakfast Akira had prepared. The tantalizing scent of the crispy bacon and freshly brewed coffee filled the air, making their stomachs growl with anticipation. The room was filled with a comforting aroma, accompanied by the soft crackling of crackling of the bacon in the pan.

Anita couldn't help but glance at Akira, still harboring anger and suspicion towards him. However, the delicious food in front of her tempted her senses, momentarily distracting her from her emotions. She picked up her fork and hesitantly took a bite of the eggs and bacon.

The explosion of flavors in her mouth surprised her. The eggs were perfectly cooked, with the yolks still slightly runny, and the bacon was crispy and savory. Anita couldn't deny that Akira had a genuine talent for cooking. As she savored the flavors, she couldn't help but feel a slight thawing of her anger towards him.

Meanwhile, Ponzu dove into her breakfast with enthusiasm, savoring each bite. She appreciated the effort Akira had put into the meal and was grateful for the opportunity to enjoy a good breakfast after their ordeal. The coffee warmed her from the inside, its smooth taste bringing a send of comfort and tranquility.

Akira watched as Anita and Ponzu indulged in the food he had prepared. He couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction as he saw their expressions change from doubt and anger to enjoyment. Food had a remarkable way of bringing people together, even amid turmoil and doubt. It was a small victory, but he hoped they would openly say what they think about his dishes.

Once they finished their meal, Akira cleared his throat, breaking the silence that had settled over the table. "Now that we've eaten, let's talk about your accusations, Anita. Firstly, I am not a Zoldyck, and secondly, I can prove that I am not responsible for your father's death."

Anita's gaze sharpened as she looked at Akira, her skepticism still present. "How can I trust your words? You displayed the Rhythm Echo technique, and I heard it was a trademark of the Zoldyck family. It's hard to believe it's just a coincidence."

Akira sighed, realizing that convincing Anita would require more than just words. "I won't deny that I used Rhythm Echo yesterday in my fight. But I assure you, I am not Zoldyck. You can verify this by asking the examiner, as they have access to the application form for the Hunter Exam."

Ponzu chimed in, her voice is gentle yet resolute. "Anita-san, I believe that Akira-san wouldn't do something like that. Although we've only known each other for a short time, I am certain he wasn't that kind of person."

Anita's gaze softened slightly as she absorbed Ponzu's words. She could sense the sincerity in both Akira and Ponzu's voices, but the pain of losing her father still weighed heavily on her. However, she decided to give Akira an opportunity to provide further explanation.

" So for now, let's take it a truce ." Akira leaned back in his chair, his eyes filled with a mix of pity and sadness for Anita. And as far as he can remember her father wasn't as innocent as she knew about.

Anita remained silent for a moment, contemplating Akira's words. She knew deep down that blind hatred wouldn't lead her anywhere. She took a deep breath and finally spoke, her voice softer than before. "Fine, I'll ask the examiner and find out the truth. But know this, if you are lying to me, I won't hesitate to hold you accountable! "

Akira nodded, accepting Anita's condition. He knew that the pain of losing her father was something he would not understand. He just hoped that they would come to terms with it.

Ponzu then spoke up, breaking the tension in the room. " Anita-san, could you share your story with us? We would like to understand your circumstances better."

Anita was hesitant for a moment but seeing that she had nothing to lose. She decided to tell her story to Ponzu and Akira who were listening intently. Ponzu gave Akira a hand to help Akira wash the dishes, Anita also helped since because of yesterday's ordeal they couldn't wash the dish. The warmth of the water and the clinking of the dishes provided a soothing backdrop to her heartfelt story.

Anita began her tale, her voice filled with a mixture of sadness and determination. She recounted the events that had led her to the 287th Hunter Exam, driven by a singular purpose: to avenge her father's assassination at the hands of a Zoldyck.

"My father was a wealthy spice merchant, respected and loved by many. He established a fleet and exported spice rocks from the spice mine, making substantial profits. But his success also attracted jealousy and greed. One day, a rival merchant hired an assassin to infiltrate our home and take the life of my father." Aniita started, her voice tinged with sorrow.

" I didn't even have to investigate. The Assassin was from... The Zoldyck Family! The notorious family of assassins." Anita continued, her voice trembling with anger and grief.

As Anita shared her story, Akira and Ponzu listened intently, their faces reflecting emotions Anita Conveyed. Akira's heart sank as he realized the depth of Anita's pain and the weight of her desire for vengeance. He understood that her accusations were not merely driven by suspicion but were fueled by the loss she had experienced.

"After my father's death, While trying my best to locate the one who killed my father, I received anonymous tips saying that a Zoldyck would be participating in this year's Hunter Exam." Anita continued, her voice filled with resolve. "I saw it as an opportunity to find the Zoldyck responsible for my father's murder and make them pay."

After Anita finished her story, the room fell silent, the weight of her story lingering in the air.

Ponzu's expression softened, realizing the depth of Anita's pain and the significance of her mission. She knew that their paths had crossed for a reason, and She was determined to support Anita in her pursuit.

" Don't worry, Anita-san," Ponzu spoke gently, his voice brimming with empathy. " I promise you, we will do our best to help you find the truth and bring justice to those responsible for your father's death."

' We?.' Akira thought as he felt something was wrong before shivering like something bad was going to happen.

However, he wanted to reject such an idea because of the atmosphere and the eye Ponzu's giving him. He couldn't help but nodded in agreement. " Anita, I may not understand your pain, but I'll do my best to help."

Anita looked at Akira, her eyes filled with a mix of doubt and hope. The burden she had carried for so long was not easily relinquished, but a glimmer of trust began to emerge. Perhaps, in this unlikely alliance, she could find the answer she sought and the closure she needed.

The breakfast scene had transformed into a pivotal moment of understanding and shared determination.

With their shared purpose cemented, the trio set their sights on the challenges that awaited them in the Hunter Exam. They knew that the road ahead would be treacherous, filled with formidable opponents and unexpected twists.

Akira, Anita, and Ponzu prepared themselves for the challenges that lay ahead, ready to face the Hunter Exam with an unwavering determination that started to toughen their bond that would withstand even the harshest challenge.
