Chapter 5. Most unproductive day

Even though they have a large staff to care for the ten- bedroom and five- bathroom mansion. Elizabeth eagerly cooks and cleans for herself. She had always attempted to preserve what she accepted to be a sense of normalcy. Elizabeth chose to clean up after herself and Anthony on Saturdays, when the staff had the day off, instead of leaving it for them to do later. She cherished the thought that these duties kept her grounded since she had never had a "ordinary" life. Anthony had mockingly accused her of playing house once shortly after they got married. He refused to imagine that she genuinely enjoyed being hands on with the day-to-day needs of the house. After that, he never bothered with it again. She looked down at the dishes she prepared to put into the dishwasher and paused. A thought crossed her mind before she left the kitchen. She went into her closet and put on jeans and a T-Shirt. She pulled her waist length hair into a pony tail and grabbed her denim jacket. She walked passed Anthony who was sitting on the couch with his laptop in front of him and made a beeline to the front entryway.

"I'm going out," She said casually through the open entryway, Elizabeth watched as his head snapped up towards her direction.

"Where…?" he started.

"I'm not sure how long I will be gone." She said as she grabbed her tote bag and car keys on her way out.

By the time Anthony got to the entryway, she had already started her car and was backing up. Elizabeth waved cheerfully as she drove away. She had no idea where she was going and was mindful that her actions today would have repercussions. Anthony preferred to keep her in a little box labeled "spouse" and liked to utilize her for social occasions when he required a seasoned hostess. Any sign of revolt from her will without a doubt have grave and unforeseen results. Still, doing something so out of character and rebellious felt great. After a few minutes her phone started to ring, when she stopped at a red light, she turned it off, and threw it into her bag. It was still early, just about nine o'clock in the morning and she felt free. At first Elizabeth began to drive in a familiar direction. She more often than not spent the day with Justin and Danielle in their quaint Suburban home but she knew that Anthony would look for here there. He was mindful of her restricted social life. She had never really made friends.

Within the 1800s, her family set up one of the nation's first banks and had always been pioneers within most of high society. Her father, Micheal Clark demanded that somebody with Elizabeth's "breeding and foundation" shouldn't blend with just anybody. Elizabeth had exceptionally few choices for companionship.

She had went through her childhood playing alone, with Jessica, or, when her father wasn't around, with the children of the maid. This melancholy and disconnection remained throughout her adulthood up until now. She contributed the larger part of her current sense of belonging and friendship to Justin and Danielle or chatting about recipes with Pam, the maid. She speaks with Pam more regularly than she does with Anthony.

Presently, she was considering what to do with her time and decided on going to the movies. It was the perfect type of distraction that would allow her to avoid the issues in her life. As a result, she went through the day going from screening room to screening room. Depending on the plot she giggled ,cried, flinched or jumped. Today was the most unproductive day of her life. She had a throbbing headache from sitting in dark and the flickering lights and she had a slight stomachache from eating soda and snacks. By the time the last movie of the day ended day it was past midnight. She started to shake as the sudden reality of her circumstance hit her as she made her way back to her car
