Terrible Accident

Alicia gradually stirred from the depths of unconsciousness, her eyelids fluttering like fragile wings. The soft luminescence of daylight filtered through a nearby window, casting a gentle glow that gradually revealed the contours of her surroundings. 

Her brows as she tried to remember feeling something amiss. "Ah!" A pain struck in her head. She tried get up only to be stopped by someone. Her vision was still hazy but the first she faced upon was the worried look of her friend, Gloria.

"Alicia!" Concern etched lines onto Gloria's forehead, as her voice, tinged both relief and concern, breaking the silence. "Thank goodness you're awake. How are you feeling?"

Alicia's throat felt dry and words eluded her momentarily. With a faint nod, she attempted to speak, "I... I'm okay, I guess. But..." She raised her hand only to see a visible tube connected to her hand. She followed the tube to see the IV drips stand close to the bed.
