Beginner hunting, book 1 chapter 1

So you've become a hunter, well you're in for a rough ride. Through the years resources have depleted so we plunder outer worlds. Because of this a new profession opened. I could give you a rundown but look at you,You're a hunter already so here's a guide. First thing first, always have a long range and short range cold weapon, you never know what could sneak up on you. Use a weapon of your preferred choice before heading off into the world. Train up a bit before heading out.

"Good evening Mr.Whitlock." The man stated as I walked into his office. "Sit please" The man gestured towards a chair in front of him. I sat down while looking around at the countless books here. "*cough*" I retained my attention back to the man.

"FIrst off, your hunter exam results were excellent." The man took out a file pertaining to the exams. "You passed with very high marks, congratulations."

"You are now a junior hunter.. I, on behalf of the hunter program, will be issuing you all certificates for said hunts." The man said while gesturing his hand to the countless places on the walls. The man stood up.

"By showing your license you may enter all primary hunting grounds in the azeroth system. In addition you are permitted to bring one extra person on these hunts, other hunters do not count." The man now stood up and walked over to a bookshelf. Taking out a book titled, beginner hunting book 1.

"Remember for safety you are allowed to have cold weapons, but make sure you are able to use said weapons. Read your hunter manual for more information on this." The man handed me the book titled hunting while sitting back down at his desk.

"Now Mr.Whitlock, any questions?". "Um, yeah" I scratched the back of my head. "Where's the bathroom" *sigh* "Third room on the left, wash your hands". "Thanks" I said while walking away towards the bathroom. "One more thing" 'hmm?' I turned around towards the man. " I suggest you start in Garoth town, it's one of the beginner friendly towns."

At the foot of a continuous mountain.A hunting town was built here. Unlike other towns, towns built near hunting grounds are completely different. Regular buildings like schools aren't here. It is the hunter's guild, the hunter's stall, the hunter's mall, they buy and sell all goods here. This is the hunter town, garoth.

At this time, the hunter checked in. In Front of him was the Hunter's hall check in. Swiping his certificate he signed in. He nodded calmly and took the certificate and put it away.

"Ok you're signed in, good luck." Around him you could hear silent speaking.

"Rowan... I remember he hasn't been to town for a while, right? Did he get the certificate?"

"Nowadays, They become hunters so early, they have so much to live for. I remember not becoming a hunter till my thirty's"

It's no wonder they are so shocked. Most hunters are registered in their late 20 or early thirties. Because of high risk rates it's better to spend a few years building a foundation to lean back on.

Not to mention the hunter certificate is a month long survival challenge, even in the easiest of hunting grounds, it's deadly. Even then, the monster's there have the minimum strength of wolves.In order to pass you have to survive using only yourself, and self made tools. It really requires you to show all kinds of survival and hunting skills.

Hunters can use markotics. Markotics are essentially, weapons made from monster parts. While you can buy markotics, making them yourself is much more cost effective. But unless you're a professional crafter they don't last longer than a full hunting season.

The goal of hunting is purely for resources. While there are those who enjoy the thrill, the real goal is resources. Finding a rare herb or killing a powerful monster can let you live comfortably for a few years.

This world is very different from our earth. The fossil fuels have basically run out.All kinds of fossil energy sources, whether above ground, underground or under the sea. If it was on the planet it's way less than our planet. In order to deal with the shortage of resources, exploring wild planets has become the norm.

The space industry increased majorly to where it's very common to see several ships coming in and out of orbit. After checking in through the hunter guild I went down the streets. Around me vendors shouted what they were selling.

"Copperhead acid for sell, makes a great lighter fluid." "Fromanthi fangs, freeze monsters while hacking them down." "greenford clubs, perfect for heavy hitters" I ignored the vendors while walking down the street. I eventually went to a weapons shop. I opened up the manual seeing what I should do first. "So a cold long range and short range, easy enough"

I walked up to the shopkeeper. "Can I get a 1.4 meter katana and a .9 meter bow with 12 Lucidium arrows?" I asked the man. I looked up to see him handing me said item's. "Yup, this is the regular for most hunter's. Show me your Id and you're good to go." I pulled out my Id and he read over it. "All right here you go, happy hunting."

"Next up are a few basic survival materials." I walked back into the street and headed over to some survival vendors. I ended up getting a cold and hot resistant tent. A few pots, knives and extra arrows.

After buying all the hunting items I returned back to the hunter's hall. I rented out a standard room. I looked through all my items and stood up. Walking over to the mirror I stared at myself. 'Well lucky you' I smiled at myself. Standing at 1.6 I was pretty short. With a lean build more adept at running than strength. 'Come on you got this' It's been years training everyday for this. Just to pass the exam.

Being able to go off-world is a dream come true for me. Hunting down beasts for their cores and resources. Not to mention the hundreds of planets with different creatures. "As soon as I get to a party it's off worlding for me" I swept my moss green hair to the side and moved towards my bed. Laying down I fell asleep.
