Chapter 8
December 30th
Lola and I have been training at Theo's since Christmas which was only five days... But those five days are better than none.
"Mom I'm going to Theo's." I say
"Okay, no drinking got it?" She asks
"Yeah." I say
"Can I come with you?" Sabrina asks
"It's just tenth graders." I say
"I'll tell mom about the drinks." Sabrina threatened
"Fine, where taking your car." I say in reference to the car Theo got her
"Eek thanks." Sabrina says
The two of us walk out of the house and to her car.
"Why do you wanna hang around a bunch of tenth graders anyway?" I ask
"It's a party, Adena somebody's gotta get the beer... Better someone who's got an ID." She says
"You got a fake ID?" I shriek
"Yeah, I've had it for a while." Sabrina says
She stops at the liquor store. She walks in proudly. She came back out with a keg. Then two workers came out with two more.
"How many do you possibly need?" I ask
"I don't know... Is this enough?" Sabrina asks
"I think we're good." I say
The workers put the kegs in the back of the car. Sabrina sits back in the drivers seat. And she drove to Theo and Bens house.
I text Theo,
Sabrina went a little crazy with the kegs we need you to bring them on up.
He replied,
I'm on my way down.
Just as I got that he jumped from his roof and grabbed the keg and we all got inside his house. Light strands stung everywhere.
"You pick the playlist." He says
I plug my phone into the Bluetooth speaker that was connected to plenty other speaks in the house.
I went on Spotify and went to the party playlist. I went to the teen party and pressed shuffle.
"Now we start texting people." Theo says
Ben actually looked happy for once.
Lola come on it's party time.
She replied,
K I'll be right over.
Couple minutes Lola pulled up. She had a black beanie, Leather jacket, white sparkle dress, and black boots. Her hair was cutely curled and she had her eyeliner perfectly winged, although I was never one for make up I thought it was cute.
"Wow you look amazing." Lola says
"You too." I say
"Thank you." She smiled
A knock was at the door. I opened it.
"Let's get this party started!" Shouted Theo
"Yeah!" People shouted
I saw a lot of people, but two stood out to me. Nick and Mandy Argento. The son and daughter of Mayor Argento, their mother, and their father is a lawyer, the best lawyer this town has. Mandy a sophomore and Nick a junior.
"Lola, look." I pointed to Nick and Mandy
"Hunters?" Lola asks
"Yeah." I say
"So they kill the supernatural... Like Theo, Ben, you, and I." Lola asks
"Also witches." I say
"Oh... That's lovely." Lola sarcastically says
"So your not thinking Nicks cute?" I ask
"Nnnooooo." She said
"Go get em'." I say
She moves through the crowd. I focus my hearing on their conversation.
"Hey, wanna dance?" Lola asks
He smiles.
"Sure."
He took her hands and they made it to the dance floor. Stitches by Shawn Mendes came on. Lola liked that song personally due to her home life. She lived with her dad since she was three.
Her mother left her and her father for a younger guy and started a family with him. Lola was so mad at her mom for leaving her. Her mother reached out to her but Lola wouldn't have it. She hardly lets anyone in. I'm the only one she can trust.
I stood by the counter with a drink in my hand.
"If your trying to get drunk it's not gonna work, trust me I've tried." Ben said
"That's unfortunate." I say taking a sip
"Yeah, I've always wondered what it felt like to be drunk I've missed out on a lot of live experiences because of who I am... I killed my girlfriend, my first girlfriend back in 8th grade... It was a full moon and she wasn't scared at all... She had no fear in her eyes even when I was half wolf, she was trying to help but umm the wolf didn't like that so it killed her... All my life I thought the wolf part controlled me but really all my actions, everything I've done was all me... I killed Sarah I killed my sister and I have killed so many others I deserve to die... But I can't I've got Theo to look after and you and Lola... Now I'm the protector." Ben said
"I didn't know." I said
"It's fine most don't." Ben says
As he walks away Theo walks in.
"May I have this dance?" He bowed
He takes my hands as we walk back to the living room. Perfect by one direction came on. I smiled. I held Theo closer. I looked past his shoulder and saw Nick and Lola where still dancing. Which brought a smile to my face.
I knew the two had gym together with Ben, Theo, and I and she constantly talks about him so I put two and two together. Either their secretly dating or she just really likes him.
I saw Lola's eyes glow. I turn Theo around.
"Sorry Nick I need to talk to my... sister for a sec." He said pulling Lola away
I follow the two of them to the basement.
"Lola calm down." I say
Her claws came out as did her teeth and ears. She was full wolf. Nick and Mandy came down the stairs. Mandy pulled her bow on Lola and Nick had his .38 guns in each hand.
"I thought Casey said these rings will keep them from killing us." I said
"They will, you'll see." Theo says
Mandy fires her arrow. Just as its about to hit my face it bursts into flames. As does the bullets Nick fired. Mandy fired an arrow at Theo. It burst into flames.
"Damn, witches just became my best friends." Lola says
Mandy tried to get closer to us but Nick held her back.
"Forget it." He said, "Let's go."
He looked at Lola with disgust and hurt. I could tell he didn't want to hurt her but it was first nature, it was instinct. Lola wanted to cry and I knew it Nick knew it too.
"I wanna go home." Said Lola
"I love you Theo but I'm gonna go with Lola." I say
"I love you." He smiled he kissed my forehead and Lola and I left
We got in her car and we drove to her house. She stopped at her driveway and she slammed the door and slumped to the ground. Her head on her knees.
I walked over to her and picked her up. I walked her inside and we sat down on the couch watching her favorite movie about zombies. I wasn't much for zombies but I'd watch twilight again if it meant she'd be okay.
