Chapter 43
I went home and my mom was gone. I took in a deep breath. It smelled like there was a struggle.
"Julian!" I shout
He's not here either. I call Julian. He answers.
"Hey moms missing, do you know anything about that?" I ask
"No, I've been at Lola's." He says
"Well incase you didn't hear me the first time, mom is missing." I say
"What? How long?" He asked
"I just walked in and I smelled struggle." I say
"What do you mean?" He asked
"I meant it smelled like she was in a struggle." I say
"Oh, so do you know what happened?" He asked
"No, if I did I wouldn't have called you." I say
I hung up. Maybe Jackson will know, or have a clue.
"Hello?" I asked into the phone
"Hello Adena."
"Yeah, hi umm can you tell me who this is?" I ask
"Are you sure you don't know?"
"If I did I wouldn't ask!" I say impatiently
"If you want to find your mother and your lover you must follow this riddle.
Mother is with lover
But where is under
Time is ticking daughter."
The line went dead. I was more confused than I was in my whole entire life.
Mom is with Jackson. But where is under?
Their under ground maybe? Are they set to explode? All I knew is I needed to find them.
I ran out of my house and went to every wear house I could think of. I then thought of school basements. Then possibly sewers.
I've been searching for hours and I could find them. I got a text from Jacksons phone but I knew it wasn't him.
Your getting colder and colder dear.
I shoved my phone back in my pocket.
The hospital had a basement before they sealed it off! I thought to myself.
I ran to the hospital.
"Adena, you don't work on Saturdays... Do you?" Asked a nurse
"No, I don't but I need to find my mother." I said and I kept running.
I ran down the stairs because it was the only way to get the basement. After hours I finally found them.
"Welcome to the party Adena." The man said
"Who are you?" I ask
"I used to work with your father." He said
"You knew my dad?" I asked
"I knew him well."
"Why do you have my mother and Jackson?" I ask
"He took my wife and mother from me now it's only fair to pass the blame to you since your his daughter." He said
"That makes no sense whatsoever." I say
"Yes it does." He says
"I'm going to play a game." He said
"You have to pick between you mother and your lover." He said
They both had tape over their mouths. Mom looked like she wanted to say something.
"To make your choice even harder, I'll let them speak." He said
He took the tape off of both of their mouths.
"Pick Jackson honey." She says
"Adena pick your mom, you need her." Jackson says
This goes on back and forth, until he took out his gun. They both shut up. He loaded the gun and took off the safety. He had his finger on the trigger.
"The clock is ticking Adena, you choose or I do."
"I can't!" I scream
He pointed the gun at my mom and before I could even flinch he pulled the trigger and my mothers lifeless body toppled over. I screamed and fell to my knees. Jackson started crying.
The man laughed. I growled and my fangs, claws, and face appeared.
"Ahh this ones a werewolf." He smiled
I lunged at him and took a strike. He shot me, he shot Jackson in the stomach. I fell to the ground and I squeezed my eyes shut and focused on healing.
I could hear the faint sounds of the mans voice.
"Mr. Ports would love to meet his partners daughter... And her little boy toy." He said as he picked me up
I felt as if I was just thrown into a car trunk. I opened my eyes and I was. I turned my head to the right and Jackson was laid right next to me.
"Jackson." I whisper
He opened his eyes
"I'm so sorry." I say
"It's not your fault, you just saw your mother die... I'm not planning on blaming you for anything." He said
"Are you okay?" I ask
"Nothing that won't heal, I just need to get this bullet out." He said
Just as he finished that sentence he pulled out his claws and dug them into his wound. He pulled the bullet out in seconds.
"Want me to do it?" He asked
"Please." I say
"Ready?"
I nod. As he digs through the wound to find the bullet my eyes glow red. He managed to get the bullet out. I calmed down as it started to heal. I pulled up my shirt and saw it was healed. But not my shirt.
"And this was my favorite shirt." I pout
"I'll get you a new one." Jackson says
"I'd like that." I said
We both say up and leaned against the sides of the truck. The truck came to a stop. The doors opened and the man took us out and dragged us behind him. He stopped and dropped us.
"Mr. Ports I have somethings that may interest you." The man said
"What is it?" Ports asked
"Adena Parker." The man answered
"The alpha?" Ports asked
"Yes sir." The man replied
"Well done Nathaniel." Ports said
"Thank you Mr. Zachariah." Nathaniel said
"Zachariah?" Jackson mind linked me
"Oh my, it's him... He's the one who killed so many... He created the hunters... But how is he still alive?" I mind linked him back
"Science." Zachariah said
"What?" I asked out loud
"To answer your question, the answer was science." He said
"I guess mind links out of the bag." Jackson said
"No kidding." I said
Nathaniel held us both. We sat there immobilized. Nathaniel injected us with a serum. Then everything went to black.
