To me Zetsu came pretty easily, it took only three weeks to be able to get it to work in under two seconds to go into the state and out of it. I also had an extreme desire to hide what I was doing, so maybe that helped, it might also be due to my low Aura reserves. I am after all only one years old so my Aura is nothing that amazing. But it is to be expected.
Anyway, after learning Zetsu in three weeks. I was even more careful now, I could stay out of sight and dampen my presence. Making myself unnoticeable, and if a Nen user is around they are most likely to assume that I am hiding my presence instinctively.
I know the Phantom Trope is around the city, but I am not gonna even attempt to get in touch with them. They have a memory reading Nen User amongst themselves. No way I am gonna let my knowledge of the future be exposed. I mean sure I can stop the birth of the King and that whole Chimera Ant fiasco, but I don't necessarily care what happens to the people at the other side of the world.
Anyway, now that I have trained Zetsu, I need to try and learn the next basic techniques in about a week, I want to be able to enter and exit Zetsu in under a second. That will show true mastery over the technique.

One week later, I can enter and leave the state of Zetsu in under a second. I look at my hands as I control my Nen to come outside and go inside my body in a split second. Nen truly is amazing, just like a muscle, the more you train it, the better it gets. In the beginning I would need to concentrate to ender Zetsu but now I can just do it with a thought. Hmmm… I think I am liking and becoming even more excited at the prospect of Nen and its possibilities.
Next I decide that I should learn Ren, the technique focuses on outputting a larger amount of aura than Ten, projecting it outwards explosively. This amplifies the user's physical strength and durability and provides a large pool of Aura for any advanced techniques or individual skills they decide to use, albeit at the cost of expending said Aura.
This is the basic function of it really. For the first time to use it I actually wait until there are little people in the house and go to the edge of the backyard and use Ren.
Slowly, a mist like Aura gushes out of me. I can feel my one year old body have a type of metamorphosis. Before, I always felt weak and sluggish compared to my previous adult self. Now I feel like I could fly.
I try jumping and I jump around two meters up (around 6.6 feet)... this is amazing… for a baby like me who could barely walk. But as soon as I am back down to earth again, I feel a slow fatigue set over me. So I immediately enter Zetsu to conserve energy and help my Nen recover.
Damn… I guess this move will be hard to practice. Especially with my low Nen reserves. But they will grow along as I use Nen, as expected, mastering the four basic principles before the age of two will be quite a challenge.
A smile appears on my face as I think of that.
I will take that challenge head on. I will actually put a risk on myself to increase efficiency.
I think for a minute about the risks I should put on myself.
Hmmm… I promise to myself that if I don't master the four major principles before the age of two I will not develop my Hatsu (Special Ability) till the age of twelve. I will keep this promise no matter what, after all, this should put me over the edge. I will train with 100% efficiency now.
I can also feel my Nen respond to my emotions and get a little stronger. Well now, this is exciting… a self imposed risk. A risk is something that someone does during battle, like for example when Shoot covers one of his eyes while fighting Youpi in order to increase the risk of the fight. I might not be the most gifted Nen user in the world, but I can definitely try and keep up with their speed by working harder AND smarter.

It took me three months to get the Ren working properly. Like usual, I am in my stinky backyard as my Nen flows out explosively, at first it seems like mist is flowing out but then I use Ten to contain my Aura and instead of steam like Nen rushing out of my body, also it allows me to hold this Ten usage longer. It takes the form of a violent Aura, with a shape like the KI from Dragon Ball. My Aura is also white and doesn't have any colour to it.
Though I can hold my Ren for only fifteen minutes. That is mostly due to my small Aura reserves that will grow bigger with age, especially for me because I will have been training Nen for so long by that time, plus I will continue training Ren and Ten even after mastering them, after all Nen must be trained extensively.
Anyway, I have decided to figure out my category, which is easy really, just use Ren during the water Divination Test, the test can also be used to train Hatsu so that is good too. Hatsu can be trained like so, for example if I am an Enhancer, I can use the test to train to make more water spill or something like that. Anyway, I plan to train my Hatsu to the limit by using water divination, which will mean that I have mastered it as a basic concept. Completing my self imposed Risk…
But now I will need to figure out how to get a glass… well I can't really get a glass of water, and I can't get leaves either. Hope that grass works the same way as a leaf and doesn't show me if I am a Manipulator or something like that. Anyway, the best I can do is a wooden cup for a glass.
The first thing I do is go inside and… okay… I immediately notice that one of the kids is missing. Okay, so… did he get kidnapped or something?
Well anyway, I can worry about that later. A kid getting kidnapped isn't as important as figuring out my Nen Category.
I look at our sh*tty kitchen, and see that the cupboard where we keep the cups is too high for me to reach.
I look around for one of the older kids. I see one feeding the new baby and I immediately go towards him. He is one of the older kids so I just tug on his pants.
When he looks at me, I just put on a cute face and say. "Wa'er… can I have wa'er?"
The kid looks confused for a split second, he himself is around ten years old and he looks very average too. I don't know his name, but in my head I call him. Boy 10, because he seems like he is around ten years old.
I decide to ask him again, maybe he didn't understand my childish voice the first time. But he suddenly calls out. "Melissa, come and get some water for Sub."
"Can't you do it, I am cleaning right now." Comes another childish voice from the bedroom.
Boy 10 seems a little annoyed so he yells again. "I am feeding Ross right now."
After a while the girl which usually feeds me comes out of the bedroom with a small stool which she uses to stand on to reach the cupboard and take a wooden cup which she fills with tab water and then gives it to me. Thankfully after that she ignores me and goes back to cleaning the bedroom or whatever. I just act like I am drinking as I go to the backyard.
As I do so, I take a blade of grass from the ground and put it on the cup and use Ren and my Nen runs through the wooden cup.

Yep, risks are actually a thing in HxH, even Gon charging his Jajanken is technically a risk and not a condition (in a way). Love writing this story, hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.🤣
MC's talent isn't bad, but with his adult mind and concentration, plus with his knowledge of Nen and risks, he can keep up with the people more talented than him and learn at the same speed as them.
