"Why so serious?"

On a moving school bus, getting up from his seat, a troubled teenage student yelled, "Why so serious?" as he pulled out a semi-automatic from under his oversized trench coat.

Then he opened fire aiming at his fellow schoolmates roaring, "Let's put a smile on that face!"

*Ratatata* *Ratatata*

The bus driver saw the crisis unfold through the cabin rear view mirror and promptly hit the brakes, without proper footing the shooter was thrown to the bus floor and was knocked unconscious after he hit his head on the edge of a seat during his fall.

*Screech!* *Bam*

Then an older male student quickly reacted, separated the gun from the conscious shooter, and searched his body to see if he was hiding other weapons. 

Later the student with the help of his fellow students used the shooter's trench coat to tie the shooter as an older female student called the cops. 

"You kids okay, anybody hurt?" the bus driver asked the students, seeing that the shooter was securely detained. 

*Aah!*

A student shrieked in terror as he saw the white school uniform of the teenage male student next to him painted red with his blood.

"Fuck! Call an ambulance, quick," the bus driver rushed to the student to find the boy's right hand fiddling with his smartphone while his left hand was maintaining pressure on the bullet wound on his chest. 

Nearing the boy, the driver heard him mumble "I fucking hate cliffhangers."

"Kid, hold on, you got to be strong, everything's gonna be okay." the bus driver said seeing that the student was losing consciousness. 

"It's cold…"

"I don't want to die…" 

"I want to read the next chapter of 'Card Apprentice Daily Log'..."

As a result of the sudden gunfire and abrupt halt of the bus mid-traffic, the road was jammed by abandoned vehicles. So the bus driver could not take the big bus anywhere but wait for the ambulance as the boy drew his last breath.

A group of seven people was camping under the starry night sky in the light of the shimmering stars and the bone fire. 

Feeling a few drops of liquid fall on her cheek, a girl with short peach-colored hair and baggy overalls in the group of seven wiped her face with the sleeve of her baggy yellow undershirt, as she commented, "Is it about to rain?"

"It's raining blood!" seeing the red stain on her sleeve the girl exclaimed in terror. She immediately looked up at the night sky to find a humanoid free-falling to the ground. 

"Banana, what is it?" finding his friend's actions odd, a handsome young man with knee-long white hair asked as he looked in the direction Banana Kavaro was looking. 

"Kite—" Before Banana could report to her friends she saw Kite, the leader of their group, activate his nen and jump to rescue the free-falling humanoid figure. 

Using 'Gyo' to focus his 'Nen' and enhance his leg muscles, Kite jumped to the sky aiming at the free-falling humanoid. Reaching his target Kite used his nen to gently break the fall of the target and catch him. The target turned out to be an unconscious teenage boy with a bullet wound on his chest. 

Seeing Kite catch the boy mid-air and free-fall to the ground, Banana and other members of the group sighed in relief. 

While free-falling, Kite noticed that when his 'Nen' came in contact with the teenage boy's body, all of the boy's aura nodes suddenly opened up. 

Then the boy's 'Nen' gathered to conjure into a book with diamond boards and the front board of the book had a QR code engraved on it. The diamond book hovered around the boy and when Kite tried to touch it, it vanished. 

After the diamond book vanished, Kite noticed the boy's body unconsciously using 'Zetsu' to close the bullet wound on the boy's chest and stop the bleeding.

Kite had heard of genius 'nen users' who at a very young age opened their aura nodes and some even mastered 'Hatsu' to create their 'nen ability.' 

However, Kite had never heard of a genius who could unconsciously open all his nodes, master nen along with its complex principles, and create nen ability upon just having come in contact with nen. 

Kite wondered if his 'Nen' had acted as a catalyst to awaken the boy's potential as a talented Nen user.  

Soon Kite landed on the ground and his group members gathered to see the teenage boy he rescued. Looking at the short, dark-skinned, and bobbed silver-haired girl Kite asked, "Podungo, he has a gunshot wound on his chest. Though it has stopped bleeding, I think he has lost a lot of blood. Can you treat his wounds?" 

"Lay him in the tent, I will see what I can do," Podungo answered with little confidence as she was a chemist, not a doctor.   

Kite and his group were out in the wilderness of the Kakin Empire far from civilization so they could only treat the boy with the emergency medic kit they bought with them.
