Alpha Damien's POV

"Have you called the meeting?" I asked Xander as he entered my office

"Yes" he replied taking his seat in the chair in front of me

"And when would they get there?" I asked signing off a letter and sorting my table

"In the next ten minutes max" he replied as he joined me in sorting my table

The meeting is about my mate. After much deliberation, I decided to hear what the pack's council which consist of the Elders and other superiors has to say about the whole situation directly from their mouth and not on papers

Yes I considered breaking the mate bond with the help of the most powerful witch alive but then, I know Layla can't survive it and I know her death is not only going to affect me, but it's also going to destroy me together.

Just thinking about her dying did a number on my emotions not to talk of it being a reality, I know I can't bear it.

Guy didn't even bother inputting anything into my thoughts, I guess he's still affected by her fear of him. Thinking about how soft this particular female is going to make Guy, I smiled

"What are you thinking Alpha?" Xander questioned and I was caught off guard

"Nothing, let's go to the conference hall," I told him standing up and walking toward the door while he just laughed.

I know he understands why I'm smiling like that, I know how weak he turned all for one female and how fierce he became in protecting her.

"You don't have to be shy about your affection for your mate," he said putting his arms around my shoulders

"And who said I am," I said glaring at him while he just shook his head laughing

"Is Emily already with her?" I asked as we drove our way to the conference hall which is about three yards away from the pack house

"Yes, the last I checked, your mate went to take her bath," he said and I couldn't help the images that rushed to my head

"Did you tell me that on purpose?" I asked knowing the kind of guy he is, he's a frustrating tease

"And why would I?" he replied with a smug smile and I felt like bashing him on the head

"After the meeting, I'll go see them" was my reply as I did my best to focus on the road

On getting to the conference hall in approximately nine minutes counting the time we wasted in my office, I saw that not all the council members are on the seat

"Where are the rest of you?" I asked getting slightly pissed off at their tardiness, ten minutes max doesn't mean it should take them ten minutes right?

"Elder Montero called for a meeting so I guess that's where they are," the Delta said and I couldn't contain my anger.

Looks like I'm going to have to kill this bastard off, he's been getting on my nerves quite too much lately

"Good evening Alpha," the rest of the council said as they entered approximately two minutes later

"Good evening to you too," I said with a venom-laced voice "and why were you late?" I asked

"We are very sorry Alpha, the meeting alert reached us late and we were with Elder Montero, he called for us around four," Jackson said, the War Leader, makes war plans and he's always on the front line

"And what were you people talking about for over 30 minutes?" I asked and knowing it was about my mate with the way his eye shifted focus, I decided to cut him off

"Don't bother, just have your seats" I said before going to my seat on the 'high table'

"So I read your letters" I started

"Yes my Alpha" Gamma Andrew said standing up from his position

He's known to be the boldest council member and I know he's going to say what's the hardest for everyone to say.

"I already decided that no matter what I'm not leaving that woman and whoever goes against this is going to face my wrath," I said before he could even begin his statement

"But Alpha..." he started again and I know he's slightly pissed off by my words

"Now tell me the things I'm expected to do, reject her? Break my mate bond? We all know she's not going to survive it and that will not only break me but also make me very vulnerable and rejecting her doesn't even count as anything, I'm an Alpha, not any other breed, we all know things aren't as simple as it is for everyone for me"

"But then she's not worth being a Luna!" Elder Aaron said from his position

"One she's no werewolf and I as a wolf can't allow a mere and weak human to lead me, what does she know, nothing!" he said

"And I know all this, but sending her away helps no one either!" I roared

"We aren't telling you to send her away Alpha. Though Elder Montero persuaded us to tell you that, we know that decision can't be good for this pack" Elder Sam said and I immediately felt relieved, it's so hard doing this without Guy's authoritative self but I know I had to and them telling me they understand me just makes me so happy

"What we wanted to tell you is that she can't be Luna, maybe you should marry another werewolf female and make her Luna, I mean it works well for all of us, you still have your mate while we have our Luna" he completed and I felt anger surge inside of me

"What balderdash is that!" I exclaimed feeling like ripping his throat off

"Are you telling me to use someone who's not my mate as the Luna of this pack?!" I asked feeling rage brewing inside of me

"Try to think about it positively Alpha, if you never found your mate, you'll have to select the most eligible person as Luna after all," he said as if what he was saying is the most reasonable thing ever and if I were to say the truth, it is, but I'm not going to accept that, never

"But now that I found her, she is my Luna! Your Luna!" I said or maybe Guy said since his voice was laced with mine and that made them all bow.

Yes we used the Alpha's voice on them

"This is the end of this meeting, I'm getting no one as a replacement and that's final," I said standing up and walking towards the door

"But Alpha..." Elder Ben started and using my inhumane speed I moved across the hall and grabbed him by the neck while raising him above the floor

"When I say it is the end, it is... the... end," I said while increasing the intensity of my hand on his neck with every word I utter

"I'm sorry" he forced out before I dropped him hard on the floor

Walking out majestically with Xander coming behind me I got out of the conference hall.

"I know, I was too much," I said walking toward the forest

"I understand you and where you're coming from, they were being selfish too," he said and I smiled at him.

He really knows how to make me feel good every step of the way, that's why he's my unlabeled best friend

"How about a run?" I asked as we entered the closest forest to us

"Last to get back makes tonight's pack dinner," he said and I laughed

"Without the kitchen staff's help," I completed while taking off every piece of clothing on me

And with bones cracking and skin changing into furs, Guy came out and with a great force he leaped forward and ran as if he was running for his dear life

"Guy, care to tell me how you're feeling?" I asked as we ran side by side Xander

"Would you care to keep shut and let me focus on running, I can't borrow you my energy to cook please" he said and I laughed

"Okay then, guess we'll talk later," I said and left him alone to do what he does best, channel his anger on his paws

"You dragged me back at the end of the race, that isn't fair!" Xander kept saying as we entered the pack house

"Would you stop lying, I only touched you, don't make it seem like I cheated" I said smiling while walking towards the stairs

"Well you did cheat," he said grumpily and I laughed.

Yes, I did cheat but do I have to admit to it? I slacked a bit and he got the upper hand so I did what was best for me at the moment, cheat.

"Just go cook and stop being a pain in the ass," I said looking back at him with a sly smile

"Fuck you!" he screamed

"Xander!" a female called from the other end of the room and looking towards where the sound came from I saw Emily, smiling like a Cheshire cat and running towards us

"No baby wait don't run!" Xander said as he walked fast-paced toward her

"I told you to stop running, it's not good for my babies," he said as he finally got to her before giving her a peck on the lips

"Whatever, how was your day?" she asked

"Where is Layla?" I asked before he could answer.

I did this because I know Xander, he's going to say every blessed detail of what happened today and that is going to waste my time, I need to see my mate

"Currently in her room, I came to get her something to eat," she said smiling

"She hasn't eaten since I left?" I asked checking my time "this is 5:53" I said

"Yeah" she replied and I rolled my eyes

"Kindly go and get her what she'll eat, I'll come to see her when she's done, Xander follow me," I said knowingly calling Xander along

I actually considered going to give her the food myself, but then she might not be ready to see me or maybe I'm the one who's not totally ready despite me wanting to see her so badly.

"That I'm your Beta doesn't mean I follow you everywhere, I haven't seen my wife since morning" he complained while holding Emily tightly while she laughed, I hate seeing their romance with passion

"And you'll have all night to see her Xander, pack duty calls, now move," I said and he grumpily followed

"I hate you," he said while I patted his back

"The feeling is mutual dear, very mutual," I said as we made our way to my office
