Smoke scurried into the air. A sea of flames and burning furniture dazzled the eyes of its victims. Nick gazed upon the horrific tragedy with a feeling of dismay coursing through his body. His thoughts were scattered and adrenaline held him in its clutches.

Nick looked around at the bodies of those who were both dead and alive. He saw the mouths of people opening wide as if they were crying in pain, but no sound could be heard.

Nick did his best to gather his thoughts. He realized that his hearing had gone numb from the explosion. Quickly, he knocked his ears with his hands as if to reawaken his dead ears. Immediately, a sea of sound flooded his eardrums causing him to stumble to his knees. The stimulus was much too sudden for his body to accept.
