6 Chapter 6: First Summon

"Well hello there goodies", i muse as i review over all the item in my starter package. Everything had been conveniently placed in my inventory. "Thank you God! Your a real bro for this one."

As far as i could see everything i needed to get started would be here.

Shelter: check

Self defense: check

Clothes: check, but might need a little more

Soap: check. I aint gonna stink for no one

Navigation: check

Dragon: che-

'FUCKING DRAGON SUMMON' At this i became ecstatic. Id finally be able to have my first dragon. I wonder what species it would be. There were so many options like the Hideous zippleback, Deadly natter, monstrous nightmare, terrible terror, gronckle and so many others.

The Book of Dragons would definitely be helpful. I prided myself as an avid fan of How to train your dragon but even i had to admit that it would be a bit difficult to remember every single dragon and there quirks.

Before i moved on to anything else i looked at the two option in front of me. Which would i do first, using the wheel of fortune ticket or the summon.

Lets start small and then work up from there. I tap the wheel of fortune tab and smash the spin button. It was now a lipstick red color, different from the dulled grey from earlier.

The tabs disappear and a big panel with thousands of options on it appear in front of me. Plentiful different colors adorned each option and i reach out to grasp the wheel. With a hard tug i spin the wheel expecting it to be heavy because of its size. Their were no words on the options only colors. This would at least make me less stressed when spinning.

Contrary to my expectation, the wheel starts to whirl around at a speed that blurred all the colors together. It seems that I overestimated the weight of the wheel.

A couple minutes passed and the bloody wheel was still spinning at full speed. Good hod this was getting boring.

{1 Hour later}

—————————-

Ive begun to regret my life choices slightly. The wheel was still going strong, and the moon was rising higher in the sky. I regret not placing the shelter down first but shit happens. The floor will have to do for tonight.

I stoke the fire a little more adding some logs to the blazing embers. Laying my head down on a small pile of leaves i gathered, i stare at the stars, looking out for familiar constellations.

I was however not afforded such luxury. It seams that Planetos had wildly different constellations from earth.

Glancing at the miserable wheel for one last time, i close my eyes, welcoming the warm embrace if sleep. It seems i had underestimated just how exhausted i was, as i drifted off to sleep in a heartbeat.

{Next morning}

—————————-

As I stirred from my slumber, I blinked against the morning light that filtered through the canopy of trees. My body felt stiff from sleeping on the ground, but the sight that greeted me was worth it. The sun had risen, casting a warm glow over the mountain landscape.

But my attention was quickly drawn to a gentle sniffing sound. I turned my head slowly and found myself face to face with an innocent deer, its large brown eyes looking at me curiously. It had come close, drawn by my presence. It sniffed me gently, its wet nose brushing against my arm.

I froze, not wanting to startle the creature. I marveled at its beauty, the delicate features of its face and the softness of its fur. We shared a moment, connected by our shared existence in this pristine wilderness.

After a few moments, the deer seemed satisfied with its investigation and bounded away gracefully, disappearing into the trees. I watched it go, feeling a sense of wonder and gratitude for the encounter.

My mood was slightly fowled however. As i turned to look at the blasted wheel, which was still spinning away. It was at least now spinning at a slow and amiable speed, enough to tell the individual colors the beheld it.

As i watched its speed reduce it came to a gliding halt over a lavender tile.

The wheel then disappeared and a notification was put on the status tab at what i assumed was the announcements tab.

Scrolling there and opening the announcements my attention was drawn towards the reward of my patient endeavor.

[Gronckle Iron Recipe*1]

———————————————

'Gronckle iron eh?' Now that, was something useful.

Thinking back to the different metals, that existed on planetos I remembered 7 distinct ones.

1-Valyrian Steel: Valyrian Steel is a rare and highly prized metal in the world of Planetos. It is known for its exceptional strength, sharpness, and ability to hold an edge. Valyrian Steel is said to be forged with magic and spells by the Valyrians, an ancient civilization that has since vanished. Weapons and armor made of Valyrian Steel are considered to be superior to ordinary steel, and are highly sought after by nobles and warriors alike.

2-Iron: Iron is a common metal used for various purposes in the world of Planetos. It is commonly used to make weapons, tools, and armor. Iron is relatively abundant and is widely available for blacksmiths and craftsmen to forge into various shapes and forms.

3-Bronze: Bronze is another metal used in the world of Planetos, particularly in the Summer Islands, where it is widely used for weapons and armor. Bronze is an alloy made by combining copper and tin, and it is known for its durability and resistance to corrosion. Bronze weapons and armor are often considered to be of high quality and are prized for their effectiveness in battle.

4-Copper: Copper is a widely used metal in the world of Planetos, known for its malleability and electrical conductivity. Copper is commonly used for making tools, weapons, and household items. It is often used in the construction of buildings, as well as for decorative purposes.

5-Gold: Gold is a precious metal that holds significant value in the world of Planetos. It is commonly used for making jewelry, coins, and decorative objects. Gold is also sometimes used for ceremonial purposes by nobles and wealthy individuals, and it is often associated with wealth, power, and luxury.

6-Silver: Silver is another precious metal used in the world of Planetos. It is often used for making jewelry, coins, and household items. Silver is known for its lustrous appearance and is often associated with purity, elegance, and wealth.

7-Steel: Steel is a commonly used metal in the world of Planetos, known for its strength and versatility. Steel is made by adding carbon to iron, which increases its hardness and durability. Steel is widely used for making weapons, armor, and tools, and it is often considered to be a superior material compared to iron.

Gronckle iron was first discovered when Fishlegs and his dragon Meatlug went on a depressed binge and Meatlug got sick from eating to much and spit up the metal.

I remember them stating that the Gronkle iron was extremely light and durable. If i could mass produce iron and sell it to Jon Arryn i would be able to make alot of trade.

'Hopefully i was earlier in the show and he was still alive.' (Fingers crossed)

I quickly pulled out the recipe from my inventory. It seemed to be put in a small book with the same locking mechanism as the starter chest.

I entered the passwords, and the books lock released. Opening the book i read the recipe as it said,

Title: "The Art of Dragon Forging: Recipes for Mythical Metals"

Chapter 3: Gronckle Iron

Introduction:

Gronckle Iron, a legendary metal known for its incredible strength and durability, is a rare and precious resource in the world of dragon forging. It is said to be forged by the Gronckle, a formidable dragon species known for its ability to consume rocks and minerals. In this chapter, we will delve into the secrets of creating Gronckle Iron, a material coveted by blacksmiths and craftsmen alike for its unparalleled properties.

Ingredients:

Large, sturdy forge

3 parts Limestone

2 parts Sandstone

1 part Iron Ore

1 spoon of hardened Gronckle Lava

Heat-resistant gloves

Anvil

Hammer

Water

Quenching bucket

Instructions:

Step 1: Creating the metal

Feed ingredients in correct portions to Gronckle of choice.

Get gronckle to spew the mixture into designated area and wait for iron to slightly cool.

Step 2: Preparing the Forge

Choose a large, sturdy forge that is capable of withstanding extreme heat.

Using an anvil and a hammer, carefully shape and manipulate the heated iron.

Strike the iron with precise and controlled hammer blows, using different techniques to create the desired shape and properties of the Gronckle Iron.

Continue to heat, shape, and hammer the iron until it reaches its ideal form, taking care to maintain the high temperatures necessary for proper forging.

Step 4: Quenching

When the Gronckle Iron has been forged to perfection, carefully remove it from the forge using tongs.

Immerse the red-hot iron into a quenching bucket filled with water, rapidly cooling it and tempering the metal to achieve its legendary strength.

Be cautious during this step, as the sudden temperature change can cause the metal to crack or shatter if not done correctly.

Step 5: Finishing Touches

Once the Gronckle Iron has been quenched and cooled, use a file or grinder to refine its shape and smooth its surface.

Polish the iron to a high sheen, revealing its lustrous and metallic appearance.

Admire the finished Gronckle Iron, a masterpiece of dragon forging, known for its exceptional strength, durability, and unique composition.

Conclusion:

Creating Gronckle Iron is a complex and challenging process that requires skill, precision, and an understanding of the mythical properties of dragon forging. The resulting metal is a testament to the legendary abilities of the Gronckle and its mastery over rocks and minerals. As you embark on your journey of dragon forging, may this recipe serve as a guide to unlock the secrets of this extraordinary material, and may your creations be as awe-inspiring as the Gronckle Iron itself

'Well that was definitely detailed'

I could also use the gronckle iron as rebar later on when i begin building structures. 'I may need more man power before i can do that though'

After considering a few of the applications that this now offered me, i looked to my inventory and at the one Dragon summoning card that it held. Well, there was not time as the present.

I clicked the card and the bloody thing took me back to that god forsaken wheel again. 'Bo need to panic, just gotta make sure i don't make the same mistake twice'

This wheel looked a lot smaller, but considering that there were a numbered amount of dragon species this made sense.

With the most gentle actions i could possibly ring forth, i ever so softly pulled the edge of the wheel.

Thank the lord all might. The wheel began a slow and soft spin. All tough it was a slow spin it still completed at least fifteen revolutions before coming to a halt on a turquoise colored panel.

Looking at the announcements it read,

[Congratulations, you have received: ]

[Adult Gronckle*1]

My lucky stars aligned once again, it seems that i would be able to visit Jon Arryn much sooner then anticipated.

The system announced once more,

[Commencing Summoning of:]

[Adult Gronckle*1]

———————————————

As it said that i bright flash occurred in front of me in the clearing i had made for my makeshift camp. My heart raced with anticipation. I opened my eyes and looked towards the clearing where I had set up camp, and there it was - my Gronckle, emerging from the light with a playful bounce in its step.

As it came into view, I was struck by its majestic appearance. Its large, round body was covered in tough, rocky scales that shimmered in the sunlight, and its wide wings were folded against its back. Its short, stubby legs carried it with a surprising grace, and its expressive eyes were filled with curiosity and wonder.

I couldn't help but smile as I watched my Gronckle approach, its tail swishing from side to side in excitement.

My Gronckle nuzzled against me affectionately, and I reached out to stroke its rocky hide, marveling at its unique texture. It purred contentedly, and I could feel the strong bond that had formed between us. It was a moment I would cherish forever - 'I need to come up with a name for this guy as soon as possible'
