1 Chapter 1: There were Dragons on the Big screen

"There were dragons when I was a boy. Ah, there were great, grim sky dragons that nested on the clifftops like gigantic, scary birds. Little, brown, scuttly dragons that hunted down the mice and rats in well-organized packs. Preposterously huge sea dragons that were twenty times as big as the big blue whale.

Some say they crawled back into the sea, leaving not a bone nor a fang for men to remember them by. Others say they were nothing but folktales to begin with. I'm okay with that.

Legend says that when the ground quakes, or lava spews from the earth, it's the dragons, letting us know they're still here, waiting for us to figure out how to get along. Yes, the world believes the dragons are gone, if they ever existed at all. But we Berkians, we know otherwise. And we'll guard this secret until the time comes when dragons can return in peace."

As the house lights illuminate the chairs in front of me im still a little dazed, and maybe even sad, at how the movie had ended. I had been watching my favorite film series since 2010 when How to Train Your dragon had first been released in theaters.

As a ten year old at the time, the film had been one of my most admired movies, and I'm not ashamed to say that before the second movie was released, i had rewatched it at least a couple dozen times.

Although the part that was truly the most interesting part of the films was not only Hiccup and his charisma with dragons, but the dragons themselves. They were truly beautiful creatures, each and every one of them. From the groncles with their pudgy armored bodies, to the timberjack with their huge wingspan with edges sharp enough to shear through tree stumps. My personal favorite however, was not the groncles, nor the typhoomerang. My personal favorite dragon was the night-fury.

Before you judge, i know thats a stereotype, but its true. Since all those years ago, i have loved the night-fury species and toothless even more. They have beautiful scales and the mystery of their species is really interesting. Though the competition between night-furies and sentinels was pretty tough, night furies are still my top favorite in the end. Buffalord wins conciliation prize.

But now as i make my way through the doors of the theater and into the main lobby, I'm still struggling with coming to grips with the idea that, my favorite movie series was now finished.

It had been a hell of a journey thats for sure, and even though it might have been a little odd to see a 19 year exiting a theater that streamed a kids animation, all i thought was, 'to hell with other people, I'm still grieving goddamit' I smirked at that and continued to walk through the bustling crowds of excited teenagers, with a few adults sprinkled in the mix.

I continued for the exit and made it out into the fresh and frisky winter night. It was a little past sunset now and all the street lights had came on. The pubs close by were all full of action, 'Seems I wasn't the only one having fun tonight' I thought as I lazed towards the sidewalk.

"Shit!", i exclaim as make my way towards a stoplight with a zebra crossing and a pole with a bright read palm illuminated on it. I just remembered that i had a paper due tonight.

I had been enrolled at George Mason University for the last year, and had been working towards a degree in civil engineering. "I mean seriously, i get that college professors have there own strict rules, but who sets the due date for an essay on a Friday night."

I had been tasked with writing a paper on my own choice of ancient engineering and architecture, and thus in my infinite wisdom had decided to research into the greatest empire to ever exist, Rome. Pretty much everything for the paper was done but i had forgotten that it was due tonight and my sorry ass needed to submit the paper by midnight.

By now the little red palm on the pedestrian signal had now changed to the walking man and i decided to book it. 'Ill be damned if i don't get this submitted' i thought as i realize i had made on of the most crucial mistakes my folks had lectured me on since i was little.

I suddenly see a bright light illuminating in my peripheral vision from my left side. The world seems to slow to a crawl, and i curse myself for not looking left or right while crossing a street.

It seems that Truck-kun was hungry tonight, and that i would be its next victim.

As the world begin to speed up again and truck-kun blasts right past, missing me by a hair, the adrenaline keeps its extreme pumping spirit going. I started to cheer with my hands closed in a fist in the air. I had survived barely by a brea- WHAM. It seems that truck-kun had a little brother. And the world around me went dark as i went flying through the air like a student on shrooms.
