13 Ch.13 A business proposition

It's been a few days since I started to live here, I have been working on the Rune and have been trying to use it to power small electrical devices like Gameboy, Discman, Camera and tape recorder.

I also started to document my findings in a journal. It took about 42 attempts but I finally found success with it I was able to power the Discman to play in the magical world without any interference from ambient magic.

But to make sure that it wasn't a fluke I tested it again with GameBoy and it was now stable and supplied it with power however these were the devices that required less power to operate with bigger devices like Tv or fridge the modified version of the rune might not be able to power them.

I still required much knowledge as to how I could supply the machines with power without short-circuiting them.

I spent few days testing my products to see if they were working or not and I must say these things never stop I have been playing Pokemon Red for about 215 never turned it off and it still works perfectly.

I was now ready to market my product. I couldn't have sold this stuff myself I didn't have any idea of the market and if I an 11 boy came out with this kind of stuff no one whould belive me.

I wanted to keep my identity secret from the general public so I first thought to do business with the Goblins but after the whole debacle with my inheritance test I couldn't fully trust them.

So it had to be someone who had store outlets, could promote my products and would keep their promises, I could think of one Family that could help me in making money as well as gain some political support.

The Greengrass's are also business people and were neutral towards the whole Wizarding wars. I could definitely work with them, but first I would need to make contact with them. I could send a letter with the prototypes to her so that she could set up a meeting.

And I decided to go with that so I sent a letter to Daphne along with the prototypes with Nimbus.

It was 22 July a letter came from Daphne saying that her father was interested in my products and wanted to meet me for business prospects.

I got dressed in a suit which was a grey suit that had an ostrich green tie with a snake tie pin and I also had some emerald cuffings, I had styled my hair with slick back hair.

I said "Jeely!" Jeely appeared and I continued "I have a meeting today so I won't be back home till diner so take care of the house and I will return soon."Jeely nodded and went away.

I walked outside I had booked a carriage ride. I saw the carriage it looked like it was Drawn by Thestrals. It pulled up in front of the mansion I got inside the carriage and it took me to the Greengrass manor.

I arrived at the manor the manner and was invited in my their house-elf Fordy.

He arrived in front of the gates and said "Hello, Mr Jonathan I am Fordy the elf of Greengrass manor my master has been expecting you."

"Leed the way." He then snapped his fingers and I arrived in a study room it was dark green and was furnished with brown oak furniture it had a small crystal chandelier two sofas which were in the middle of the room a corner desk which was in front of a large arch window, a fireplace which was in the centre-left side of the Study, the right side had a wall to wall size bookshelf which was filled with books most of them were related to the history of magic and the Greengrass family history.

I decided to sit on the sofa and wait for them I didn't have to wait for long. In came Florian Greengrass. He was a good looking person with long brown hair that came to his shoulders, he had a goatee, he was wearing a brown suit with one of those fancy ties that weren't really a tie but a scarf, he wasn't really wearing many accessories except his rings one which was silver and another of gold.

I got up from my seat, he looked at me and said "Welcome to my house young wizard." and offered me his arm.

I shook his arm and said, "It's a pleasure, Mr Greengrass thank you for taking time out of your schedule for meeting me."

He then laughed, pointed his hand at the sofa and said, "Don't be silly Jonathan, you are my daughter's friend and you have come to me with such wonderful product."

I sat down and said, "Thank you, sir."

He then leaned back and said "Frody!" Frody appeared and asked, "Yes, master?" Florian then said, "Get us some tea and some scones will you." Frody nodded and went away.

Florian looked at me and said, "Let me be honest with you your product is amazing it can revolutionize so many fields that it is amazing and the recent discoveries made by the Ministry with Radiofrequency could very well change the Wizarding world."

He then paused and said "But there might be a problem you see many wizards could potentially harm you if they come to know that you are the creator of something this hudge I don't think I have to mention many examples one might be enough the creator of The Pensieve. That is why there aren't many Pensieve available."

I said, "I know that sir, that is why I want to hide my identity as the creator until I am an adult."

Frody appeared with the tea and scones and muffins, he placed the tea and went away.

Florian took the teapot and poured some tea and gave it to me. I thought about checking the tea but didn't want to offend him so I thought not to do that.

Florian said, "I thought you always checked your food and drinks before consuming them." I gave him a confused look. He said, "Daphne, has told me a lot about you."

I then took out my wand and checked for stuff and it was fine so I sipped it, he then asked me "If you don't mind me asking why didn't you go to the goblins they are skilled in making jewellery, weapons and items imprinted with runes?"

I then put down the tea and answered "I don't really trust them with this kind of information they can easily be bought that is why"

He then gave me a sly look and asked "What makes you think that I will not sell you out?"

I said, "Because you are more interested in making money and are the only family that remained neutral during the war."

He then asked, "So how does this rune work exactly?".

I answered him vaguely "It has 3 working components first rune absorbs the ambient magic second one converts it to a form of electricity that doesn't fry the circuit and the third is serial no. checker it checks if the make is from ours or not if it is not from ours it just doesn't work.

And it is easy to make and if we use an assembly line sort of technique it can be made faster. " I didn't tell him but there was a fourth part as well it gave the location of the device 24/7.

He then was impressed with the explanation and answered "Your product is amazing Jonathan. I am willing to sell it in my stores, but how will you produce them?"

I said, "I was thinking that we could employ some wizards under the magical contract under your name so that they don't cheat us and my name doesn't get out."

He smiled and answered, "Very nice thinking of you the cost of manufacturing will be lowered and we will be able to sell it at a reasonable cost."

He then gave me a satisfying look and said "I like your Jonathan. Now I can do business with you in one condition and it is beneficial to both of us."

I then sipped my tea and asked "Nice, what is your condition?"

Florian smiled and stated his condition. I spilt my tea and said "WHAT?! Why can't we just do a magically binding contract?"

He then said, "Look this is my only condition to which I am going to agree to our business otherwise you will have to work with the Goblins and not to mention this deal helps you a great more than me, you will gain an important ally. We have a seat in the Wizengamot and are essentially the face of the grey faction."

I then said, "I will need some time to think about this."

He said, "You can take your time no worries."

I then got up from my seat and said "Thank you for meeting me sir, I will now take my leave. I will contact you when I have made my mind."

He then said "Fordy!" Fordy appeared "Please escort Jonathan outside." Fordy nodded and snapped his fingers and we were outside the Manor.

The carriage was waiting for me I entered the carriage and said "Take me to Gringotts." He nodded and we took off.

Florian was standing in front of the window in the study and looked at my carriage taking off and said "You are my golden goose Jonathan and I won't let you go."
