Beauxbatons | 10th January 1986 | 1 PM

Charlus and Henri arrived at Beauxbatons at 10 and were waiting for their friends to go to lunch. Lucas had already arrived, so they were waiting for Lucifer. They were talking about their Winter Break with Lucifer to pass time.

"We played on my broom and played a bunch of board games. A family friend was also there, Neville. We were four people so we could play more games. It was so fun. We ate the sweets pack you gave us. It was very tasty."

"Thanks. Your gift basket was also nice. Is the shop yours? It said Potter Sweets."

Charlus thought for a while. He had forgotten to ask Sirius about who owned the place, so he decided to ask him later.

"I don't know. I'll ask my godfather and tell you."

Lucifer entered the room just then. The three looked at him and let out a breath of relief.

"Thank god you are here. If you took more time, we would go without you."

Lucifer looked at them and saw they weren't bluffing. He put his bag down and started changing to his uniform immediately. It took him a few minutes do it, and after he was done they went to the dining hall.

While they were eating, they discussed their Winter Break. Lucas had been at the manor and had mostly just played with his older brother. Everyone was surprised that Lucas had an older brother, and so he explained that his older brother was actually in Drumstrang since he was going to inherit the Lordship.

Lucifer had gone with his father to the family shops to see how to take care of them. He explained that his father worked with Lucas' family, and that's how they knew each other beforehand.

Both Lucas and Lucifer were angry that Charlus had only invited Henri but not them. Charlus explained that he couldn't find them when they were going home.

After they were done with lunch, Chalrus excused himself and went to the library. He wanted to check if there were any new books on Alchemy. He walked into the library and asked the librarian if there were any new books on Alchemy.

"No. Not that I am aware of."

Charlus was surprised that the reply came from a woman.

"What happened to Old Man Rick?"

"That muggleborn? He was only a temporary staff. What was Madame Maxime thinking? Putting a muggleborn in charge of the valuable books in the library. I have to make sure he didn't steal anything."

Charlus was angry at the librarian for badmouthing the previous librarian.

"He was a lot better than you. You are a very bad person."

He stuck out his tongue and left the library. He had no use with a library that didn't have the books he didn't need anyway. He left the library and went back to the dorm. He lay on his bed and thought about what to do. After thinking for a bit, he took out his Alchemy book Remus had given that Summarized the last 500 years of Alchemy and started reading it.

An hour later, he looked at the time and saw that it was nearing 3. He closed the book and left to the garden. Even after 2 weeks of Winter Break, he still remembered that at 3, all his friends would be in the garden.

He reached the garden 10 minutes before 3 and didn't see any of is friends there, so he sat on a bench and waited for them. A minute later, another person sat beside him. It was Fleur.

"Fleur! How are you?"

Fleur replied, "I'm fine, thank you. How are you?"

"I'm great. I really liked your Christmas gift. I'm even wearing it right now."

Charlus showed Fleur the band on his wrist and Fleur smiled. FLeur then brought her hand below her neck and showed the necklace she was wearing.

"I like your gift too. It was beautiful, but mom was worried it was too expensive."

Charlus simply said, "It wasn't. Thanks for wearing it. So how was your break?"

Fleur was going to start, but their other friends started coming. So Fleur waited for all of them, and they all shared their breaks. Fleur and Charlotte had gone to England for the break because that was the only country that could be covered in such a short time.

Selene was a muggleborn, so she celebrated it the most interesting way. She also celebrated New Years, which everyone else found odd. It was the first time they heard of someone celebrating New Years Day.

They talked for an hour, and then they started playing a board game. Charlus wisely chose to sit it out. He simply sat and watched the others play.

Dinner time approached, and they went to the dining hall and had dinner. After dinner, they went back to their dorms to sleep. Charlus and Henri were getting ready to sleep, while Patrick had already slept. Charlus decided to write a letter to Sirius before sleeping.

Dear Padfoot,

This is Charlus. How are you and Harry? I'm at Beauxbatons in my dorm. You remember the Gift Basket we bought for my friend? It was at Potter Sweets Shop. Who owns that shop? I thought you owned it the first time, but I just wanted to be sure. Anyway, I hope Harry is fine. If he is getting bored, why not have Neville be in that preschool?
