Chapter 6 Demonic Activity

Demon: "..."

"Idiot! Do you really think that Dumbledore would entrust something like the Philosopher's Stone to a random Muggle boy?! Stop asking such stupid questions, you fool!"

"Get people in place immediately!"

Meanwhile, John, unaware that he has drawn the Dark Lord's attention with his actions, is attentively watching Professor McGonagall demonstrate how to enter Diagon Alley.

"Count three bricks up, then two across..."

As Professor McGonagall gently tapped her wand on a slightly recessed brick, the wall slowly opened up with a series of clicking sounds, revealing a cobblestone path.

McGonagall seemed quite pleased with the astonished expressions on John and Harry's faces.

"Mr. Constantine, Mr. Potter, welcome to one of the main gathering places for British wizards, Diagon Alley. Here, you will be able to purchase all the magical books, pets, potions, and wands you need..."

"But first, we need to go to Gringotts to exchange your money for wizarding currency."

John nodded and followed her along the path toward Gringotts, his eyes constantly surveying his surroundings.

As they walked and listened to Professor McGonagall explaining the process of exchanging money and giving suggestions on purchasing school supplies, a sudden voice echoed urgently in John's mind.

[Ding!]

[Demonic activity detected nearby!]

[Locating the source of the demonic presence...]

Demonic presence!?

John halted, his expression shifting from that of a curious teenager to one of a hardened veteran on the battlefield. His eyes, sharp as a hawk's, scanned a nearby alley.

In his unique exorcist vision, he saw a stream of black smoke, serpentine in nature, slithering through the alley. A red outline, like a "mission objective" from a video game, darted around wildly, moving at an astonishing speed.

John's serious demeanor caught Professor McGonagall and the others' attention.

"What's wrong, John?"

Snapping back to reality, John quickly shook his head, trying to appear casual.

"Uh, sorry, I thought I saw a snake slither in that direction..."

Hearing this, Hagrid, who had been looking curiously toward the alley, shook his head.

"Mr. Constantine, it was probably just another pet escaping from that shop. Don't worry, it happens all the time here. They'll catch it soon enough."

John nodded, though only Professor McGonagall seemed unconvinced. She had a nagging feeling that John's reaction wasn't merely due to an escaped pet, but after looking at the alley for a while, she saw nothing amiss.

"John, we have a lot to do today. We need to keep moving..."

John remained unusually quiet for the rest of the journey. Even when they reached Gringotts and exchanged their pounds for Galleons, he seemed lost in thought.

"John, are you worried about something? If you're short on money, I have plenty to share..."

Harry's sincere and generous offer, combined with the Galleons' gleam reflecting in his eyes, finally snapped John out of his reverie.

Looking at Harry's earnest face, John smiled.

"Thanks, Harry. If I need help, I won't hesitate to ask you, my friend."

"Friend?"

Harry's face lit up even more at the word, beaming with happiness. He seemed ready to give John all the Galleons he had if needed, delighted to have such a friend.

After leaving Gringotts, they headed quickly to their next stop, Ollivanders.

Unlike the grand, ancient Gringotts, Ollivanders looked like a small, unimpressive shop. Even though John had read about this "wizarding arms dealer" in the Harry Potter novels, seeing the tiny, almost shabby storefront in reality made him feel a bit speechless.

"Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands since 382 BC"

Noticing John and Harry's skeptical looks, Hagrid quickly explained.

"Don't underestimate Ollivanders. They don't need fancy storefronts to command respect."

John shrugged as a bell rang when they entered.

"Oh, look who it is! New young wizards needing wands, and Professor McGonagall herself leading the way!" Ollivander's exaggerated tone greeted them as he came to meet them.

John's gaze wandered over the shelves around him.

Just like in the story he knew from his previous life, Harry Potter, the "Boy Who Lived," was immediately recognized by Ollivander. After some adjustments and attempts, Harry finally received the wand best suited for him.

"Oh, it's still this one: eleven inches, holly, with a phoenix feather core... Truly a marvelous connection, or perhaps destiny," Ollivander sighed, looking at Harry's scar with a sense of nostalgia.

Not wanting Harry to learn too much about his past, Professor McGonagall quickly stepped forward and gently pushed John toward Ollivander.

"Alright, Ollivander, we still have many other things to purchase, so let's quickly find a wand for Mr. Constantine."

Ollivander nodded. He was about to follow the usual procedure of measuring John's arm and asking some essential questions when John, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke up.

"Mr. Ollivander, does your shop accept custom wand orders?"

"What?" Everyone was taken aback, and Ollivander paused.

"Young man, as I mentioned to Mr. Potter, it is not the wizard who chooses the wand, but the wand that chooses the wizard..."

John shook his head without elaborating further. Instead, he slowly took out a glass vial from his briefcase. Inside, a holy feather floated serenely, seemingly unaffected by gravity.
