237 Chapter 237: For The Greater Good

Late at night, at the Crouch Manor

Arthur's figure appeared in a tree not far from Crouch's house.

After finishing their homework with Cho and Luna, Arthur left Hogwarts to meet with Crouch.

After confirming that there was no one in the mansion except Crouch and that there were no magical traps, Arthur confidently walked through the front door.

Sensing someone entering his home, Crouch also came out to greet him.

"You finally came."

Seeing Arthur, Crouch breathed a sigh of relief.

Crouch had been on edge these past few days, afraid that his son would discover his secret.

Fortunately, Barty Crouch Jr. was confident in his magic and believed he had successfully controlled his father, so he didn't worry too much about him.

Ignoring Crouch's complaints, Arthur got straight to the point.

"What is their plan? Did you see Voldemort?"

Crouch led Arthur to the study, closed the door, and then took out a privacy device before cautiously revealing the information.

"Your estimate was correct. Barty and Bellatrix came to my place yesterday and attacked me. I saw they didn't want to kill me, so I followed your instructions and pretended to be defeated. I allowed myself to be captured."

As Crouch spoke about Barty attacking him, he couldn't help but sigh.

Despite Arthur's warnings in advance, the reality of the situation still brought a sense of sadness to his heart.

As a father, he felt like a failure.

"Enough with the emotions. Hurry up and finish. I need to get back to sleep. There's a curfew at Hogwarts."

Arthur impatiently interrupted Crouch's emotions.

Crouch was taken aback.

Did this person have no sympathy?

You've already outsmarted Voldemort.

Why do you care about a curfew?

Crouch had no choice but to continue.

Arthur had a general understanding.

Barty had indeed used Crouch's identity to infiltrate the Triwizard Tournament, and they had also attacked someone Arthur knew, Ludo Bagman.

As the Head of the Department of Magical Games and Sports at the Ministry of Magic, Ludo Bagman was a major participant in the event and also one of the judges.

Barty and Bellatrix used Crouch's identity to lure Bagman to Crouch's home, where they used the Imperius Curse to control him, then had Barty take Bagman's place.

In the original story, Moody managed to avoid this situation by not teaching at Hogwarts this semester.

If everything went as planned, they would tamper with the Goblet of Fire, making Harry participate in the Triwizard Tournament.

As for Voldemort, Bellatrix was taking care of him.

They lived in a location that nobody could find, and Bellatrix would only appear when they needed Crouch.

"Do you know their exact plan?"

Crouch shook his head. He had been under their control for too short a time and didn't have the opportunity to eavesdrop on their conversations.

"All I know is that they'll act as you said during the Triwizard Tournament. I'm not even sure if their target is Harry Potter."

"But..."

Crouch hesitated for a moment before mentioning the name, "Voldemort is in bad shape. Bellatrix made him control me to go to Gringotts to retrieve some gold galleons, and they had a dispute about it."

"Bellatrix wanted me to withdraw all the Galleons, but he said it would attract too much attention from others, so we could only take a portion."

The 'he' or 'him' Crouch referred to was naturally Barty. He didn't want to mention his son's name anymore.

As for Voldemort, after witnessing Arthur's abilities, Crouch suddenly felt that Voldemort was just a powerful dark wizard and nothing more.

At least he was relatively simple-minded.

Hearing what Crouch said, Arthur's fingers unconsciously tapped on the table, a habit he had when deep in thought.

Was Voldemort really in such a bad state?

To be honest, Arthur didn't know.

While Voldemort had managed to escape in Albania before, Arthur knew that old Dumbledore was not to be taken lightly.

And with the creation of more Horcrux, Voldemort's current state was even worse than Arthur had imagined.

Seeing that he wasn't getting any useful information from Crouch, Arthur decided not to ask further.

"How do you plan to help me bring him back?"

Crouch was worried about Barty, who had already gone further down the path of the Death Eaters.

If word got out about attacking Ministry officials, it would be a luxury to even enter Azkaban.

It wasn't that Crouch felt pity for Barty. If it weren't for his promise to his deceased wife, Crouch would have given up on his son a long time ago.

But whenever he thought about the gentle woman who had begged with him at the last moment, Crouch couldn't bring himself to give up on Bary.

"Don't worry, in the end, I will make sure Barty returns as a hero."

Arthur smiled and said, "If, at the last moment, he suddenly betrays Voldemort, we can easily say that Barty did it for a greater purpose."

"Betray Voldemort?"

Crouch was well aware of his son's nature. It was easier to expect Arthur not to cause trouble than to expect Barty to betray Voldemort.

"It doesn't matter if he actually betrays Voldemort."

Albus said confidently, "We just need to make the world see that he did."

After speaking, he handed Crouch a bag.

"This is Taming Potion. Find an opportunity to put these in his food. Over time, every word you say, he will subconsciously follow."

"After Barty attacks Voldemort, everyone will believe he's a hero."

"Even Voldemort himself will believe that everything that is currently happening is staged by you and Barty. With this plan, you can easily take control of the Ministry."

As Crouch took the bag, a deep chill ran through his heart.

Why hadn't he heard of such terrifying potions before?

And with Arthur's words about serving a greater purpose, Crouch couldn't help but feel that it wasn't a good sign...
