139 Chapter 139: Blackmail

Sirius Black, hanging on the door, felt a bit stunned.

Why did this kid use James' spell so quickly to use physical force?

"Kid! You have no dignity, If you are so brave, put me down and fight me fair."

Arthur ignored Sirius's angry yells because he thought a lion-like Sirius, who was easily upset, needed good teaching. The current situation suited him just fine.

"I can help you catch Wormtail, also known as Peter Pettigrew. Don't you want the person responsible for James' death to be brought to justice?"

Arthur's words struck Sirius' heart.

Sirius stopped talking, but his mind was anything but calm.

Why did he escape from Azkaban after living there like a walking corpse for so many years?

It was all because he saw the rat's image in the newspaper.

At first, Sirius didn't fight back and let himself be captured and taken to Azkaban because he thought Wormtail had been killed in the explosion.

He wanted to spend the rest of his life in Azkaban to make up for things he had done wrong in the past.

But now Wormtail was alive, and one of Harry's classmates took him in as a pet.

Sirius got his fighting spirit back so he could get revenge on his best friend and make sure Harry was safe. He then escaped from Azkaban.

Although his heart was filled with excitement, Sirius tried his best to remain calm.

"Why are you helping me?"

"It's simple. It's a trade."

Arthur stood up and walked slowly towards Sirius, locking eyes with him.

He spoke in a serious tone, "I'll help you catch Wormtail, and in return, you'll let me access the Black family's library and give me something. That's the deal."

"What something?"

"Just a trinket. Your house elf knows where it is."

Kreacher?

Sirius was puzzled.

How did this young wizard know so much information?

Not only did he know about the grudge between him and Wormtail, but he also knew what his family elf had hidden.

"Why should I trust you?"

Sirius doubted Arthur's abilities.

"You have no choice, do you?"

Arthur narrowed his eyes, staring at Sirius with an intense gaze. His deep eyes seemed like a vortex.

"If you don't agree, you'll go back to Azkaban. Then Wormtail can continue to live freely and sometimes torment your godson..."

"I agree!"

Sirius saw the stuff Arthur said in his mind. He gritted his teeth and reluctantly said, "I agree. Can you please put me down now?"

...

A few minutes later, the two of them were sitting at the dining table again.

Sirius couldn't wait and asked, "When are we going to find Wormtail?"

Arthur was speechless.

Did this guy have no brain? The whole family is on vacation in Egypt, how can you find him?

"What's the rush? What can you do if you catch him now? Use the Killing Curse on him and continue living as a fugitive in the magical world?"

Arthur retorted.

"But what should I do then? I can't wait any longer, Ever since I found out that the scum who killed James is alive and well, it feels like a dog is chewing up my heart."

Sirius yelled, and his eyes got red.

"Shut up!"

Arthur scolded.

"You keep going on about James, but have you ever thought about Harry? You saw his life yesterday. Do you want him to keep living with those families? To endure the humiliation of those Muggles?"

This was what Arthur disliked most about Sirius.

He was Harry's godfather. What had he done for Harry? When Harry needed help the most, Sirius went for revenge.

Since escaping from Azkaban, Sirius has been obsessed with James and Wormtail. Was this how a savior should behave?

"Yes, Harry..."

Arthur scolded Sirius, and he calmed down a bit.

When Arthur brought up Harry's name again, a huge wave of guilt hit him, making him very ashamed.

"You're right. I need to think about Harry. Tell me what I should do."

Seeing Sirius calm down, Arthur eased his anger and said, "Wormtail won't leave Ron's side for now. We need to find a way to clear your name and bring him to justice. Only then can you openly move into the wizarding world and make it up to Harry."

Hearing Arthur's plan, Sirius nodded. Indeed, Hogwarts was the safest place for Wormtail. He wouldn't walk around until news of his capture spread.

"Do you have a specific plan? What do you need me to do?"

Sirius eagerly looked at Arthur. At this point, he no longer saw Arthur as a child but as his trusted ally.

Arthur rubbed his forehead, feeling troubled. He actually didn't have a good plan. It wouldn't work to try to catch Wormtail and take him to the Ministry of Magic.

After all, in people's minds, Wormtail was still the hero who had received the Order of Merlin, First Class. And Fudge would never admit the truth.

Although this injustice happened when the earlier Minister of Magic was in charge, it would still be embarrassing for the Ministry.

"I don't have a good plan for now but don't worry. As long as Wormtail doesn't escape, there will be opportunities."

Seeing Sirius' dissatisfaction, Arthur added, "If you do something careless that makes things worse, I'll hide Wormtail somewhere you'll never find him. Then I'll tell Harry that you killed his parents."

Hearing Arthur's brutal words, Sirius felt uneasy.

Were Hogwarts students today really that bad? How did he think of such a cunning plan?

In fact, it was Arthur's last resort. If Sirius was captured by the Ministry again, Arthur would also be exposed to the risk. His goal was to eliminate all potential threats.

"Don't worry, I'll follow your orders."

Sirius replied weakly, feeling defeated. He now understood that this young wizard was a devil, someone he must not provoke.

Satisfied, Arthur nodded and continued, "Remember what you said. Since you've agreed, we'll go to the Black ancestral home tomorrow. I want to collect my deal first."
