Chapter 8

Two days later, the Anderson family drove to Charles Street, where Albert's grandparents lived at 21 Charles Street. The Andersons visited the elderly couple every year, and during the summer vacation, Albert would always stay with them for a few days.

"Grand-dad, guess who came to visit?" Albert said as he approached his grandfather.

"Albert, come here and let me see!" Luke completely ignored his son and stepped forward to stare at his grandson. "Herb said that you have received a letter from Hogwarts. If there is anything you want to buy, you can tell me."

"Dad, I have already taken Albert to buy things in Diagon Alley in London," Herb said, looking at his father helplessly.

"I'm still buying you a gift. He's a kid; of course he wants a gift. What kind of gift do you want?" Luke glanced up at his son and took Albert's little hand. "Go to the house and show me what magic you have already learned."

"Luke has been excited for several days. He's been acting like a child," Sansa said to Herb. "He never told me about it before. I only found out a few days ago. I haven't seen Nina for a long time. Oh my, haven't you grown?"

"My brother won't let me touch his wand. He always guards it against me. He thinks I'm a thief," Nina immediately reported to her grandmother.

"Herb, watch Tom and don't let him run around too much." Daisy picked up the package in the car and asked her husband to put the cat in the cat cage. She didn't want the cat to run away as soon as he got out of the cage.

"Can Albert really do magic?" Sansa thought this was very interesting, but she didn't expect her grandson to be a wizard.

"Yes, he can make the wand shine, and he practises secretly in his room every night," Nina said, holding her grandmother's hand. "He also said that if I took the wand, I would definitely blow up the house."

"Mum, you don't know that that magic wand is really dangerous. Let me tell you..." Herb took the cat cage and followed them behind, still talking about what he had seen in Diagon Alley.

"Albert thinks it is dangerous to practise magic haphazardly," Daisy added. She had read about the history of magic and knew part of what had happened in the magic world, and she still had some understanding of the magic world.

"Well, Daisy, things aren't as bad as you think," Herb said.

"No, Mum, in fact, even in the wizarding world, children aren't allowed to use a wand until they are 11," Daisy said, completely on Albert's side. Their son was very reliable.

"How do you know?" Herb asked curiously.

"If you read all those books, you'll know," Daisy said, looking at her husband reproachfully. "Can you take care of Albert? He is our precious son."

"Don't worry, Albert hasn't worried us since he was a child," Herb said, knowing his son's character very well. Albert had always made people feel safe.

"Even so, you should have a snack," Daisy said, taking the parcel into the house and getting out biscuits to share.

After being imprisoned all the way, Tom was released from the cat's cage and started running around. Sansa and Daisy went to the kitchen to prepare desserts and black tea, while Luke was listening to his son and grandson talk about Diagon Alley.

Luke knew about the moving portrait of a wizard and Dumbledore. He put the chocolate frog that Herb brought into a large glass bottle and placed it in the living room as a decoration.

"I even wrote to Headmaster Dippet and Deputy Headmaster Dumbledore at the time, asking why I didn't receive the admission letter," Luke said after all these years. "Because I didn't have any ability to cast spells. I'm a squib. I was eleven at the time, and I was sent away by my family. They handed me over to a non-magical distant relative to raise me."

"How could they do this?" Herb was puzzled and angry. He felt that his father's family had done too much.

"Giving birth to a squib is a shame for a wizard's family," Luke whispered. "They will hide this secret as much as possible and even pretend that there is no such person."

"That's so sad," Nina said, comforting Luke with a hug.

"After so many years, I've put these things aside and gone non-contact with my family," Luke said, picking up Nina and putting her on his lap with a smile. "But to my surprise, Albert became a wizard. When Herb didn't receive the admission letter, I had given up hope completely."

During the small talk, Albert showed them new magic, such as the Wand Lighting Charm, the Repair Charm, the Cleaning Charm, and the Unlocking Charm. These are the four magics he currently has initial mastery over, thanks to his level 2 wizarding bloodline. Although he wasn't as proficient in the Repair Charm as he would like, it was quite surprising to see the cracked tea cup slowly repaired and the tea poured on the table being dried without warning.

"I want to do that too," Nina said, looking at her grandfather coquettishly and whispering, "I want to learn magic too."

Luke looked at his grandson and asked him for his opinion. He knew that Albert had his own opinion and wouldn't decide on some things at will.

"You can only do what I tell you," Albert said, looking at his sister. He was actually very curious about whether Nina had magic talent.

"I will, I promise." Nina nodded, bobbing her head up and down really fast.

"You promised so quickly; forget it. You're not listening to me at all," Albert said, staring at his sister seriously.

"No, I'm listening. I'm listening," Nina quickly retorted.

"Say it to me first, Lu-mos," Albert said.

"Lu-mos," Nina hurriedly followed, knowing it was a spell.

"Say it a few more times slowly. Don't say it wrong; otherwise, no one knows what will happen," Albert said. "I will lend you my wand later. Don't jab it, and don't point it at people."

"I know," Nina said a little impatiently.

"What did I just say?" Albert asked suddenly.

"Don't jab with your magic wand, don't..." Nina forgot to say anything and pursed her lips, complaining, "I'm not you; how can I remember so many things?"

"If you can't remember, I can't give you the magic wand," Albert said seriously.

"But you only said it once," Nina compromised.

Albert gave Nina the death stare, and the Andersons all laughed. Kids always like to be naughty, but Albert had a way to manage her mischief. After Nina remembered his words, Albert gave her his wand. Nina took the wand excitedly and, after being glared at by Albert, calmed down and chanted the spell obediently, trying to use the Wand Lighting Charm. However, the spell did not succeed.

"Take a deep breath, concentrate, and try again," Albert said, stretching out his hand on Nina's shoulder and speaking softly.

The Wand Lighting Charm is one of the simplest spells. If it can't be used, it probably means that Nina may not have the talent to become a wizard.

"Lumos." Nina tried several more times, but none of them succeeded.

"Don't worry, Nina. You're anxious, but remember that the more anxious you are, the easier it is to fail. It's not your fault, though. Maybe you're just too young or the wand isn't right for you." Albert stroked his sister's hair and turned to look at his grandfather.

Luke shook his head, understanding what Albert meant.

"Am I not a witch?" Nina started to cry.

"I don't know, but that doesn't mean you don't have the talent to be a witch. You just need more time and practise." Albert comforted her.

"I hate you. You always lie to me." Nina dropped her wand and ran away.

Albert picked up his wand with a helpless look and watched as Nina ran off. He prepared to catch up with her.

"I'm going to find Nina." Luke stood up and walked in the direction of his granddaughter. He understood how she was feeling.

"Children are so much trouble," Albert thought to himself.
