44 Chapter 44 : Flourish & Blotts

After a long lecture from Merlin about what are Magical Circuits and how he got the most developed magical circuit right now compared to any witch or wizard alive, Orion finally understood that he hit the jackpot.

In a nutshell, more developed magical circuits mean more control over one magic, powerful wizards who can do wandless magic, have developed magic circuits. It take a lot of hard work and time to develop once magical circuits. What Orion has now, is enough to totally ditch his wand for the most part. It would have normally taken more than 100 years for a talented wizard to develop their circuits this much.

And that only when that witch or wizard is not using a wand, excessing use of wand has also caused degradation in the development of magical circuits, it's like having a calculator, its fast but if people completely rely on it then their own calculation power will suffer.

"So can I do telekinesis like a Jedi?" Orion asked with a little anticipation on his face, he understood these magical circuits were a big deal by just how much Merlin was going on and on about them but he honestly didn't care much, he always liked the part of using magic with a wand in the Harry Potter world.

It always gave this vibe that it was a magical world to him, not like he is complaining or anything, being able to do magic without a wand is nothing less than a boon, but that brings him to another very particular power in fiction, FORCE and the power of Telekinesis. He always wanted to do that.

Merlin on the other hand got irritated as the child in front of him didn't truly understand the worth of this much-developed magical circuit but then didn't deliver the upcoming lecture.

He looked into Orion's memories and learned more about force. It was very similar to a certain type of magic he learned after finally being able to develop his own magic circuits to a certain level back in his time. Fun fact, when he learned that wandless magic, his circuits were still not as developed as Orion's here.

"Magic Bending," Merlin mutters slowly but Orion does hear him, " Pardon ?" Orion brought his ears closer to listen to him. Merlin on the other hand just thought of something and a smile appeared on his face.

'Well I was planning to start teaching him the ancient magic but I guess now it's not possible until he learns how to control his suddenly developed circuits to the fullest, teaching him magic bending might be the best Idea,' Merlin thought to himself.

"Ah excuse me, what are you...." Orion was saying but before that, Merlin looked at him and said.

"Okay, then I will teach you Force," Merlin announced and Orion was wide eyes, "You know force ?" Orion asked ridiculously.

This leads Merlin to explain to Orion what he really meant.

After getting the basics of magic bending which is very similar to the force from Star Wars, Orion finally got ready and went out.

He didn't have time to train today as he had to go to the bookstore for the job interview, well it was mainly a part-time job.

----

-Flourish & Blotts-

The dusty shelves of Flourish & Blotts in Diagon Alley were lined with magical books of all shapes and sizes. Orion nervously pushed open the creaky door to the quaint bookstore. His Hogwarts robes were neatly pressed, he wanted to show that he was really a Hogwarts student and thus ended up wearing his school uniform here, and he clutched a parchment in his hand containing a carefully written request for a part-time job. This was something he got from Dumbledore, he requested this before leaving his office. The old man did it without much resistance.

As Orion stepped into the shop, the sweet aroma of parchment and ink enveloped him. Behind the counter stood a middle-aged wizard with a stern expression, his name tag proclaiming him as Marcus, the owner of Flourish & Blotts.

Orion approached Marcus with a determined stride, trying his best to hide the nervousness that tinged his voice. "Excuse me, sir. My name is Orion D. Ambrosius, and I was wondering if you had any part-time positions available. I've always loved books, and I thought working here would be a magical experience!"

Marcus raised an eyebrow, peering at Orion over the top of his half-moon spectacles. "Part-time, you say? And how old are you, young man?"

Orion puffed out his chest proudly. "I just turned 12, sir, but I assure you, I'm very responsible, and I can handle the magic and mischief of the bookstore."

Marcus chuckled, his stern expression softening. "Well, well, a young wizard eager to dive into the world of literature. Why do you want to work at Flourish & Blotts, Orion?"

Orion's eyes sparkled with enthusiasm. "I've read almost every book in the Hogwarts library, Not even joking as Orion really ended up reading almost all of them besides the one which was in the restricted section and has nothing to do with his magical growth like history or quidditch books, and I want to share my love for magical literature with others. Plus, I could use some extra Galleons for my lounging."

He of course didn't tell Marcus that he is also here because soon a very interesting Diary will come here by one White-haired bastard.

Marcus smirked. "Ah, a practical young wizard, I see. Well, Orion, do you know the difference between a Flobberworm and a Blast-Ended Skrewt?"

Orion hesitated for a moment before responding confidently, "Of course, sir! A Flobberworm is a harmless, boring creature, and a Blast-Ended Skrewt is a nightmarish creation of magical experimentation."

Marcus nodded approvingly. "You're well-informed, Orion. I suppose we could use someone with your knowledge around here. But mind you, the shelves can be a bit tricky to organize, and some of the books have a tendency to bite."

Orion grinned. "No problem, sir! I'm not afraid of a few nippy books."

Marcus extended his hand. "Welcome to Flourish & Blotts, Orion D. Ambrosius. You start tomorrow after school. Don't let the books hex you on your way out." Marcus said and even jokingly used Orion's full name which he clearly sees Orion is very proud of, surprising to Orion as others don't usually, in fact, he used 'D' with his name because it sounded much better than his plain name, 'Orion Ambrosius,'.

Marcus on the other hand joked but he felt that something was wrong, he could be sure that he had learned many books in his time, and they were not just magical books but also Muggle books, he couldn't have sworn that he had heard this world before.

"Ambrosius," Marcus tried to recall but couldn't.

Orion shook Marcus's hand with a beaming smile. "Thank you, sir! I won't let you down!"

And so, with the promise of adventure and magic, Orion began his part-time job at Flourish & Blotts, ready to embark on a journey among the enchanted shelves of Diagon Alley's most famous bookstore.

Oh, that was pretty close, what will happen when Orion learns what his name means, why Merlin didn't say it?

Those do don't know what I am saying, don't worry and bother to look it up, it will just add more curiosity and questions in your mind.
