143 Chapter 143 : Auction 1

July 1993 US Ministry Of Magic.

In the grand halls of the US Ministry of Magic, a prestigious auction unfolded, drawing a crowd of esteemed figures from all corners of the magical world. Usually, such gatherings are not seen often.

But due to the nature of this gathering, Wizards and Witches from all areas have come. Even magical who usually wouldn't join any kind of gathering like this has come, becuase this was a very important event in the magical world.

Potion masters like Snape and Slug Greenhorn mingled with dignitaries and Hogwarts professors, their eyes alight with anticipation for the main event. There was a look of pride in their eyes.

Especially all the witches and wizards from Hogwarts had this feeling. And there was a good reason for that as the reason of this auction was none other than a student of Hogwarts. 

It was the most prideful day for everyone, even the magical Britain itself considering how the boy who might, technically saved, the magical world is from Britain.

"It's a shame that that boy didn't attend this action," McGonagall said with pride surging inside her.

"For whom exactly, I assure you that the old people like us here are more eager to meet that young man than the other way around," Dumbledore laughed, this time truly being happy.

McGonagall at this just gave a little smile on to Dumbledore. Yes, she knows her students well.

He hardly cares about fame, if he did then he would have been here or just delayed this auction. 

Even if he didn't have other important things to do, McGonagall believe that he wouldn't have come until some excessive persuasion. A small smirk appeared on her face.

Minister Fudge himself presided over the proceedings, his presence lending an air of gravitas to the occasion. Dumbledore was the auctioneer but Fudge pulled some strings to hold the auction in Britain's Ministry of Magic. 

Dumbledore prepared to unveil the star attraction – the newly created batch of Squib potion from Orion D. Ambrosius. Yes, this was the auction for Orion's first batch of Squib Potion.

The reason why Fudge wanted the Auction to happen in the Ministry of Magic was to empower his ministry. His power was long wavering upon the dragon attack in Diagon Alley. 

Dragon attack was fine, the real trouble arose after the vaults of every pure-blood family got looted, the political storm he was standing on was nothing less than Mt. Everest. The same pureblood whose vote he needs to stay as the minister of magic. Not that he was in deep shit. 

So this auction was a last attempt to save his shaking position. It would have worked even better if Orion himself had been present there. Currently, he needed some kind of support so held on to his shaking position. Orion D. Ambrosius currently holds that kind of influence in the market.

Although he has almost zero political power to speak of besides Dumbledore being on that child's side, his reputation has soared through the roof after the Squib Potion. 

That New Broom line which Fudge was hearing, his book and lastly now this Squib Potion. There was no mistake that Orion D. Ambrosius will be a huge name in future. He needed that boy right now on his side. But he wasn't present. 

He gave Dumbledore all the right to auction the first batch of Squib Potion, if only this right was given to him, he asked Dumbledore to let him do it, but...

Orion was absent, having departed Hogwarts after completing his second-year exam, almost 4 to 5 months before the end of the year.

With Dumbledore entrusted to oversee the auction on his behalf, even if he didn't have to fix his arm, he hardly believed that he would attend this auction, beside making some connection, he has no intention of wasting time on those old crooks. 

In this case, he believes letting Dumbledore act is better, this not only earns some browny points with the old wizard but at the same time same him a lot of time. He knew that if he was in Hogwarts then mostly like McGonagall would have pulled him by the ears to the auction if she had to.

Why an auction was another big question. Well becuase even after publically revealing the potion recipe of Squib Potion, there are not many who brew it, maybe countable on one finger. It was really hard to make the potion.

Not to mention, although the potion recipe itself was free for everyone, the essence of core recovery wasn't. And becuase Orion had only a certain amount of essence created before fighting off against Nick and then leaving Hogwarts temporarily. 

Again the essence was something he planned to sell in future as an ingredient. He long announces that if anyone desires to create their own essence then he has no issue regarding that, in fact, he highly encourages it. 

About the essence, he clearly said that he need extremely pure magic to make it, and there is no one with that kind of pure magic and thus he currently is the only one who can make it, a bunch of bullshit but he didn't have to convince anyone beside Dumb-Dumb-Doore and it worked.

Thanks to Dumbledore being able to sense the purity of the magic, he knew that the part about pure magic was the truth. That was more than enough for Dumbledore to believe that the rest of Orion's statement should be true as well.

Well, he wasn't exactly lying there, it was only his magic due to which he was able to make the essence, but it had nothing to do with its purity. 

Potion enthusiasts and collectors alike vied for the opportunity to obtain a vial of this rare and coveted potion, an extremely hard to nearly impossible task considering just how many people had attended the auction and how high they could raise the bet in the auction.

And there were also many purebloods there. Some taking advantage of the huge gathering and some were sneering cause the one who made the squib potion was none other than Mud Blood.

Soon the Auction was about to start, and many people were waiting for this movement. As Dumbledore slowly got up and got to the big platform.
