1 1. Me, Credence?

The dark room had a faint smell of decay. On the small single bed, a young man curled up, trembling. Suddenly, he sat up in shock, exclaiming, "Ah!" His forehead was covered in sweat, and his eyes were bloodshot.

"I...I traveled through time?!"

Dim light from the corridor shone through the small window on the door, revealing his trembling hand. He didn't need a mirror to know that he was no longer in his own body.

"Credence? Credence! Are you okay, my child?" A woman with a stern voice called from outside the door.

"I had a nightmare. It's okay, Mom," he replied, suppressing his discomfort.

"Go to bed early; we have to distribute flyers tomorrow-"

"Okay, Mom."

Silence fell once again.

"Huh - Credence? Is it Aurelius?" He smiled, a mix of amusement and sadness.

Knowing the plot well and being able to predict the future was the greatest advantage of being a time traveler.

But now, he hated himself for knowing the plot.

Aurelius Dumbledore. He should still be referred to as Credence Barebone.

He possessed super strength and was ranked among the top three combatants of his time. He was one of two individuals who had demonstrated the ability to destroy cities.

But this was not a good thing. Not only was his terrifying power uncontrollable, but it also continuously destroyed and devoured his own life.

The stronger he became, the closer he was to death.

The silent one!

The lone surviving Obscurial. A genius, a super genius who was meant to create his legend but instead became a monster born from depression and mental torture.

He had died once, yet he found himself even more afraid of death.

He didn't want to die, especially a death that could be foreseen and had an impending countdown.

"Kill...destroy...Aurelius...destroy it all!"

Crazy thoughts constantly assailed his mind. They were the primary characteristic of the terrifying dark power represented by the Obscurus.

The Obscurus possessed no intelligence or consciousness. These crazy thoughts originated from Aurelius himself.

Those bewitching words were always associated with Credence in his memories, but after time travel, he became Aurelius. This was direct evidence that those dark thoughts stemmed from within himself.

The Obscurus simply fed on these negative emotions, gradually eroding Aurelius, until it fully unleashed the Obscurus, destroying everything, and ultimately bringing about the destruction of both Aurelius and the Obscurus.

"No, you can't!" Aurelius looked ferocious as he desperately suppressed these negative emotions. Everyone believed Credence to be timid and dull because he had suppressed his emotions since childhood. A good horse can be ridden by others, and others can bully a good person. Being introverted, cowardly, dull, and an abused orphan, every word was synonymous with bullying. These treatments led to the power of Obscurus, but no one knew the terrible impact Credence would have once he got angry. In so much pain that his hands were clutching his scalp and his nails embedded in his skin, Credence's past suffering tempered his will. Let him successfully regain consciousness in the dangerous tug-of-war of time travel.

With a laugh, as if he had just been fished out of a water tank, Credence slumped on the narrow single bed and stared blankly at the ceiling. He didn't think about anything; he didn't even have the energy to think. Aurelius, utterly heartbroken, couldn't think of any way to save himself.

"Am I not a time traveler? Where's the plug-in? Where's the system? I don't want to be invincible; I want to live..."

Perhaps there is a time-traveling god, and perhaps this god heard Aurelius's prayer and answered it. Aurelius suddenly discovered strange memories that did not belong to himself or his previous life's legacy.

"Summoner...abandoned? War College...abandoned? 'Code of Blades'? Rune magic? Summoner skills?"

"This...this is... Valoran's heritage?!"

In the famous League of Legends game, Aurelius fought in Summoner's Rift before falling ill in his previous life. "Seems like they're all settings of being eaten... Heh, the setting of abandoned people and abandonment? They are compatible and share the same fate," Aurelius laughed at himself, but his mood improved because he knew he could be saved.

The key lay in the description of summoners in the inheritance: Summoners had the ability to summon defender heroes. After the War College emerged, chaotic and abusive summoning spells were banned, and a new summoning technique was introduced. The new summoning spell formed a contract with the hero and appeared as the incarnation of the summoner's will when needed.

In the game, only one defender could be controlled in each battle, but in reality, a summoner could only contract one defender in their life. Every battle in the game started over, and the defender needed to grow from scratch, but in reality, the defender would grow together with the summoner.

"Contract..." Aurelius' attention was firmly focused on these two words. The Obscurus is a parasite that poses a life-threatening danger by constantly devouring its host. However, if Aurelius can control the Obscurus, it will no longer be a threat to his life. In fact, it can become his greatest asset in this fantasy magical world. It's important to note that the Obscurus cannot consume its host and therefore cannot become stronger on its own.

Despite this limitation, Aurelius discovers a potential solution. By becoming a summoner and allowing the Obscurus to become a defending hero, it can access the upgrade system of the defending hero and grow stronger in a different way. Excitedly, Aurelius realizes he can be saved from the life-threatening situation caused by the Obscurus.

However, as he contemplates signing the contract, Aurelius hesitates. The thought of removing the threat to his life and gaining more power awakens his greedy nature. Although he acknowledges that this greed is bad, he still wants to proceed, believing that he is simply upholding the original destiny of this world.

Despite the potential consequences, including the loss of countless lives, Aurelius resolves to bet on gaining more power. In the dimly lit room, his eyes turn as vicious as a wild wolf.
