22 Hogwarts (2/2)

"I don't like him."

That was the immediate reaction of Hermoine.

"And why is that?" Asked Ron.

"Probably because of how proud and narcissistic he sounded." Harry said, still amused at Sebastian's words.

This however, surprised Ron a little.

"So, you guys do not think that he is interesting?" He asked as both Hermoine and Harry looked at him in astonishment, "Like come on. For an heir of such a prestigious family, he was rather nice. And even if he wasn't, that was possibly the best way to not get harassed to prove his lineage every other day."

Ron, unlike Hermoine and Harry who lived away from the magical society, was someone who was born into it.

He knew how proud the heirs of such prestigious families were and he also knew of the power they held. It was surprising to him that Sebastian did not take offense to the boy's words.

Above all else, Sebastian was a Slytherin not just in name but in blood. So, it made sense that he was so prideful.

If anything, Ron believed that the boy got off pretty easily.

"That is no reason to be so rude." Hermoine frowned, "Being rich or famous does not justify his attitude."

Saying this, she looked at Harry. "Look at Harry, he is the same as him, possibly even more famous. But Harry does not act like him."

Ron looked at Harry and then at Hermione. It took him a moment, but he understood that this was not a debate he could win against them. It was especially difficult when the other party had absolutely no idea about the wizarding world.

"I… guess." Ron sighed, deciding not to drag the matter.

He knew that Harry was also famous and was from a powerful family, but compared to being the sole Slytherin heir –a family that basically built the wizarding world, Harry was nowhere close.

The only thing Harry had going on for him was that he had slain a Dark Lord, which Harry said he had no memory of and at this point most of the wizards were certain that it was merely a tale made for fun.

"L-Let's talk to him!"

The trio heard a girl say to her friend.

"Are you sure?" Her friend asked, "He does not seem very interested in us…"

The introduction surprisingly happened before their breakfast, which was rare. As all the school announcements were made after it.

However, this also created an opportunity for the students to approach Sebastian.

"Y-Yeah." The girl said, "I will still try." Saying this, she walked towards the table that Sebastian sat at. It was the Slytherin table but he still sat alone, mostly because the students were a little afraid of approaching him.

Some were scared that they might offend the Slytherin heir, while the rest, including the girl that tried to approach him…

Couldn't do so because of another reason.

"Stop!"

They heard two simultaneous yells.

"Do not go there!" The one to yell this was a fat boy, "Draco will talk to him first!"

Seeing this scene, Ron rolled his eyes. "Of course."

"Do not talk to the Slytherin heir before Draco!" said the other Malfoy lacky.

"W-Why?" The girl asked, almost crying.

The fat boy looked at her as if she was dumb.

"Because he is Draco Malfoy." He said, emphasizing on the Malfoy part.

"That does not answer anything." The friend of the girl frowned, "Why do we have to wait just because Draco Malfoy has not talked to him yet?"

Crabbe and Goyle looked at one another, "You are a mudblood aren't you?" They scoffed, "Of course, mudblood will not know anything. It is a waste to even talk to you."

The girl who wanted to talk to Sebastian was shy, yet she wanted to approach him as he was a celebrity of sorts. She amassed enough courage to talk despite her timid personality, just to end up being called a mudblood and stopped from even approaching Sebastian.

"Hey!" To the horror of Ron, he heard Hermoine yell. "Why are you stopping her from talking to someone!"

"Hermoine sto–"

"She is right." Harry added, a look of frown visible on his face. "You have no right to stop her."

Ron felt like face palming at the situation. He hated the scene just as much, even more than that he hated the very name of Malfoy –something that he carried from his family.

However, he knew fairly well that it was dumb to cause a scene.

"Don't engage yourself with such mudbloods, Potter." Goyle scoffed, "You will ruin your reputation too."

This made Hermoine angrier, "Who are you to tell him to stop hanging out with his friend!"

As much as Ron wanted to stop, he also knew that it was a bit too much to insult others in such a manner.

But to his surprise, he did not have to get involved, as someone they did not expect ended up involving themself.

"You all seem to be having an interesting conversation."

Sebastian smiled, standing in front of the little crowd that seemed to be arguing. He already knew that it was about him, but he didn't mention that.

"Don't worry about that, Sebastian Slytherin!"

Answered a loud voice, one that sounded a bit too rushed.

"Everyone is just very excited to see a true Slytherin in Hogwarts." The one to say this was none other than Draco Malfoy, the very person who ended up causing this scene.

However, while he tried to quieten the scene, a messy haired girl decided to fight back.

"Do not lie, Draco!" Hermoine was furious. "Your friends called me and them mudbloods and also stopped her from meeting with Sebastian!"

Sebastian looked at the shy girl, "Oh, to meet me?"

He knew people would try to approach him, and to be honest he didn't mind. He knew he had to talk to others if he wanted to improve the situation of house Slytherin.

"And these two stopped her!" Hermoine complained.

Sebastian looked at the boys, raising an eyebrow. "Why is that?"

He knew the scene was about him but he had no clue that it was about these two stopping others from approaching him.

"I-It's only natural that we first talk with wizards of the same level." Draco, in an effort to salvage the situation, tried his best to phrase the sentence better.

However, it only sounded even worse to Sebastian.

"Our level?"

Sebastian knew that the boy in front of him was looking down on the non-purebloods and he also hoped that Sebastian would feel the same.

However, to his shock, Sebastian did not share the same sentiment.

"Are they not witches and wizards?" Sebastian asked, amazed at Draco's words. "I believe they are from the same year as us."

"They are." Draco agreed, "But you know… They are not from families such as ours."

Draco wholeheartedly believed that Sebastian was the same as him, someone who believed in blood supremacy.

And in some situations, Sebastian did. But that was merely a time involving history and ancient magic.

"They are different, huh?" Sebastian smiled.

Draco and even the others believed that Sebastian was most likely someone that believed strictly in blood supremacy. Why? Because that was what Salazar Slytherin is known for.

Salazar was a devoted blood supremacist. And it was a common belief that his family was the same.

"But my point stands." Sebastian stared at Draco, "Aren't they also people that possess magic?"

Except Sebastian wasn't.

"Besides," He laughed a little, "You want me to form opinions despite the fact that I have not caught a single one of your names."

All the purebloods, including Ron, were shocked by his words.

To them, it made no sense that he was saying those words. For a Slytherin heir to not care about blood, it was ridiculous.

"I-I–" Draco didn't know how he could reply to that.

But Ron was quicker.

"I am Ronald Bilius Weasley of the house Weasley." Ron introduced himself, in a way feeling proud to be able to introduce himself prior to anyone else.

"The Weasleys?" Sebastian tried recalling, "One of the twenty eight so-called pure blood families?"

The moment he said 'so called' it irked every pure blood wizard present there.

But Ron knew he could not take offense, after all, Sebastian had reasons to not bother with the sacred twenty eight.

So, the ginger nodded. "Indeed. The Weasley's have relations with the Black family and by the longer stretch we are also related to the most ancient and most noble house of Gryffindor."

Now this interested Sebastian, "Really?"

"Yes." Ron agreed, "It is a very ancient link but we do have the blood of Godric Gryffindor."

Sebastian stared at Ron for a while. He knew that there were still families out there with at least a hint of blood from the four creators of Hogwarts, but it felt nice that he could talk to one directly.

"This is quite a nice thing to hear." Sebastian's expression softened, "At least there are still people carrying Godric's legacy."

Sebastian respected Godric.

Godric was one of the only wizards that was stronger than Salazar and he had seen the lion of the wizarding world dueling with the serpent wizard.

And despite both the wizards playing around, he knew that each of them was capable of destroying armies with ease. It was especially when he learnt that Godric was stronger than Salazar that made him respect the man so much.

"But they are still blood traitors!" Draco protested, not liking the attention that Sebastian was giving Ron.

"Shut up, Draco." Hermoine yelled, "Just because someone is friends with people outside of your circle does not mean they are any worse than you!"

Sebastian already learnt about the twenty eight magical families from Dumbledore and he also knew a tiny bit about the situation regarding the current families.

Quite a few also went extinct.

"Firstly," He finally sighed, "I do not necessarily care about which families you belong to." He explained, "Secondly, I consider it quite rude to be blabbering about stuff without even introducing yourself."

This made Draco freeze.

He did not expect Sebastian to say that he did not care about blood purity, and even worse was the fact that he had forgotten to properly introduce himself in front of the Slytherin heir.

"I-I apologize." He gave a look of embarrassment, "But I am Draco Lucius Malfoy, of the house of Malfoy and the heir to the current lord of the house of Malfoy."

Saying this, he looked at Sebastian, "The house of Malfoy is currently one of the most influential houses of the wizarding world."

And that was true as the house of Black had pretty much fallen and Potter family only had Harry, Weasley's reputation was quite bad in the pure blood circle, thus Malfoy seized the opportunity to establish themselves as the most influential.

However, despite it all, Sebastian had an entirely different view of them.

"Oh?" He widened his eyes, "One of the Norman immigrants?"

This made everyone within the place freeze.

"W-What?" Draco couldn't believe his ears, "What did you say?"

"Norman Immigrants." Sebastian repeated, "Aren't you a descendant of the wizards that followed William the Conqueror in his invasion of Britain?"

This…

This was one of the reasons he could not care about the Sacred Twenty Eight.

He did not respect them, he did not believe that their position was deserved.

Unlike the houses of Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Slytherin, the current twenty eight were families that either simply tried to reap the benefits that were sown by the four families. Or they were part of an invading group that soon established themselves as the most influential.

To Sebastian, they were merely leeches. His grandfather believed in blood supremacy, but he knew that even Salazar would dislike the sacred twenty eight.

It made him laugh that they were so proud of their heritage when it was established on bloodshed and pillaging.

"Don't get me wrong," Sebastian explained, "I do not mind your heritage. But please, do not try to act friendly towards another house because you consider them to be the same as you."

He smiled, "Some families had existed even before the invasion of William and might even share a bit of disdain towards the invaders."

This felt like the biggest insult to Draco and to some extent, even to Ron. But the Weasley knew better than to argue with the Slytherin.

"Did you… did you call me an invader?" Draco asked, forgetting that he was speaking to a Slytherin.

"Oh, no." Sebastian laughed, "Not you but your ancestor. After all, you cannot change what they did just like the others cannot change their bloodline, now can they?"

Draco felt insulted and he could barely hide it.

So, what did he do?

He ran, ran with his tail between his legs –all while whispering a certain sentence.

"My father will hear of this…"

Taking his lackeys with him and leaving Sebastian with the others.

Everyone was shocked, no one could believe the scene that they witnessed.

But Sebastian?

Sebastian didn't care.

To him, it was just another everyday encounter.

"So, I believe I have not gotten the rest of your names." He said with a calm smile. "Which I believe is necessary as we will be spending quite a lot of years being classmates."

And well, it never hurts to acquaint oneself with others.
