A Humble Request

"I don't think it will be as easy as you think, Mr. Slytherin."

Sebastian was not amused one bit when he heard Snape.

"Professor." One thing he was better than the others was at keeping his calm, "I am officially not a student of Hogwarts yet. The sorting ceremony is not yet done and I don't even have the essentials to start my schooling journey."

Sebastian stared straight at Snape, "So, I do not see how it can be any difficult for you to grant me a day of leave from these premises."

Snape didn't like how demanding Sebastian was. He could see the pride he had as the true heir of Slytherin and it didn't sit well with the professor.

He hated students who were demanding and prideful. But in this case, he couldn't do much.

Unlike the rest, Sebastian was not afraid of him and neither was he worried about the school rules.

Snape knew very well that it was them who needed him and not the other way around.

"I do not hold enough power for that, Mr. Sebastian." He said, "These decisions are taken by the headmaster."

Snape was aware that Dumbledore was thinking something for Sebastian. As the heir of one of the founders, Sebastian was basically royalty within Hogwarts. And Dumbledore wanted to give Sebastian enough freedom and power that matched the Slytherin name.

However, Snape knew Dumbledore well enough. He knew that doing so would result in disruption in the system as well as mess with the unbiased education system.

So, Dumbledore was very careful to not muddle up the situation.

This was also why Snape wanted to let Dumbledore handle everything regarding Sebastian.

"Asking for permission is merely a formality, Mr. Snape." Sebastian said, not too happy with the lack of agreeability. "As I said, I am not officially a student yet, so I do not necessarily need to ask for formality. But I respect the effort you all are putting for me and I also do not want to completely mess up the rules and regulations that you have for this place."

Snape frowned, aware that Sebastian wasn't wrong but the professor couldn't simply allow him to leave the premises either.

"I fail to understand what you might be lacking in this place, Mr. Slytherin." Snape's frown deepened, "I can assure you, if it is that you want to explore –there will be an upcoming expedition for that students that you can join. But till then, I will request you to stay here."

Sebastian sighed and shook his head, "I see."

He understood quite well that there was no point in asking the professor about it. He had to talk to the person with the higher authority.

"Well then, I will have to ask the headmaster, won't I?"

Snape nodded, "I am afraid so. I am powerless in this situation."

Maybe he was, Maybe he wasn't –Sebastian didn't really bother worrying about it.

The one reason he asked Snape first was to maintain some sort of order.

While it was true that he didn't need permission to go out, he asked to not cause a scene. And the reason he asked Snape first and didn't directly go to Dumbledore was to maintain order.

In every institution –students are supposed to contact their teachers first before going to the headmaster. Going to the headmaster for every issue is not generally allowed.

This was what he wanted to follow.

"And this was what led you to me?"

Dumbledore wasn't sure what to feel about the situation.

He was certainly happy that Sebastian was willing to go through things in a systematic manner, however he was extremely worried about Sebastian's lack of fear about the authorities and his sheer stubbornness.

"And I am certain that you can help me with it."

The boy wasn't wrong. If there was anyone that could give him the permission, it was Dumbledore.

"This… is a difficult request, Mr. Slytherin." Dumbledore voiced, "You still do not have your wand and have yet to formally join Hogwarts. So, we cannot officially take responsibility for you… yet."

Sebastian raised a curious eyebrow, at which Dumbledore added. "It is quite dangerous to let you roam the places without guidance and the professors cannot guide you around as you are not yet a student."

"So are you saying that I am not allowed to go out or that I have to go out alone?"

Sebastian asked, hoping for it to be the latter. As while it might seem dangerous to others, especially Dumbledore –being alone was the best case scenario for him. There were somethings that was not meant for others to see and the place he was going to visit was one of them.

Unfortunately for him, his luck was not that good.

"We cannot force you to not go," Dumbledore said in a defeated tone, "However we cannot let you go alone."

Once again, Sebastian was curious. "If you cannot let me go alone, neither can you assign me a professor nor can you stop me from going out… what are you trying to say?"

Dumbledore took a deep breath and stroked his long beard.

"It is true that I cannot assign a professor to be your guide, but I can assign someone else." He said, insinuating that there were people outside the professor circle within Hogwarts that he trusted. And this was something that Sebastian caught on.

"And who are you thinking about?"

This time, Dumbledore gave him a smile.

"Someone that might be the only option for this scenario." Dumbledore said, "Someone that you wouldn't mind taking to your family's grave."

"Ah, bless yer heart, you poor thing."

Carefully caressing the shiny fur of the mystical horse, a giant of a man showed immense pain.

"Blimey, those wizards are rotten for hurtin' ya."

His hands were giant, almost dwarfing the injured neck of the beautiful horse.

As he slowly moved his hand, a nasty and infected wound became visible on the horse with the glowing fur.

"How cruel…"

He took out a pot that appeared no bigger than a vial in his massive hands.

"Don't worry, you'll be back on yer feet in no time, don't ya worry."

He very carefully applied the medicinal paste from the paste to the wound, making the horse jitter a little.

"Easy now, little one," he comforted, "Yer gonna be just fine, no need to worry."

Surprisingly, the horse listened and allowed the giant to tend to his wounds.

And it didn't take long for him to fully cover the injury with the paste, before slowly wrapping a clean cloth around it.

"Now, give it a day or two, and that injury should start mendin' itself."

He felt content that the poor creature would be healed in a few days, but he couldn't help but feel sad for the countless beasts that are hunted down everyday.

He sat next to the horse with a peaceful smile on his face.

"Now, I'll need to have a peek at those tiny critters." His smile returned, "They're doin' better than ever."

But maybe, it was not time for him to go check on the slimes.

As he heard a shout –one that echoed from behind him.

"Hagrid!"

It was a sharp voice.

"You have been summoned by the Headmaster!"

And one that he knew very well.
