7 Settling into Salem

Harry, Hope, Melinda and Ben were at a specific location. It was time for Harry and Hope to start their education in Salem.

Ben was a bit further away giving us our privacy

"Take care of yourself. Don't be too lonely" I said cheekily at Melinda

The old woman just nodded and sigh "You are right. I will miss Hope a lot.. you on the other hand? Not so much"

Ouch burn

Hope dived into Melinda's embrace with tears in her eyes. She bonded quite a bit with the old woman.

"Shhh. Everything will be alright sweetie. We can see each other every weekend. It's not 'goodbye' it 'see you later' "

One thing I love about this is that they give out Portkeys to the Guardians. Allowing the children and teenagers to go home every weekend. It was a much better idea than separating 11-year-olds from their partners for most of the year.

Hope just sniffed and nodded

"I will be looking into any rules and loopholes I can find about the British Ministry. Maybe we can find an answer in some old laws" Melinda says with a heavy tone

I nod at that. We need to figure something out for when Dumbles comes knocking. That old goat will definitely try to drag me back to Britain once he realizes I'm gone.

"Mr. Potter. It's time" Benjamin comes over.

I gave him a bored look. "Ahh forgive me, are you ready Mr. Harrison Peverell" he says with an annoyed tone in his voice.

I convinced him it would be better to keep my identity hidden for the first two years. I might have explained that somebody will try and grab me for their own schools. And If I were to spend Two full years at his school he would have quite a lot of backing to destroy their claims.

I used Peverell mostly as bait. Some old fools will definitely be after the 'Hollows'. People who never gave up on their dreams. I have no qualms about robbing them blind should they try something.

I nod at him and walk to Melinda

"Don't take risks. Wizards are fools but one spell and you're dead" I whisper as I look her directly in the eyes

"Bah. I'll kill anybody before they get the chance. But dont worry. I'll be careful" Melinda then quickly pulls me into a crushing hug "Hold back on the extra abilities but show all of your wizarding skills. Learn as much as possible so you can be ready"

I nod, showing I understood. All of us grab the rope that was turned into a portkey

" Hold tight" Benjamin shouted

I grab the rope and stick my hand to it. I do the same to Hope's hand and then put a hand on her shoulder bringing her nearer.

Salem was just like your Modern High School Campus. Well a bit on the rich side but it was still surprising to see them take such a modern appearance

"The school adds buildings and renovates every few years. If it can become better and more efficient we will do it. That's how we became the best"

Various buildings were scattered across the campus. It looked like each subject had 3 or 4 buildings.

Ben continued his explanation "Each subject has a few buildings, Inside those buildings are floors for each year. For example, year 1 through 3 goes to the first building. On each floor, there is a classroom, and a few practice rooms with different equipment. And a small library for that subject. In case a student is looking for a particular spell to practice or needs it for an essay.

As you know we are a bit more advanced than other schools. We have 5 years of standard education that pretty much wraps up the entire 7 years of Hogwarts education. After that we have "

I turn to the man "Don't you have a library"

Ben nodded "While we do have a big and extensive library. Students don't want to go there for just one book. So on each floor,we have a very small library with the books they would probably need. "

Impressive. There were also multiple dorms, and even a couple of restaurants on campus.

Ben saw the buildings I was looking at and explained " Students can either commute or stay in a dorm, we do recommend choosing the dorm. Hardly anybody wishes to commute as Portkeys and Apperation can be.. problematic for underage magical. But they do go back home during the weekends.

As for the restaurants and cafeteria? We don't offer meals to our students. That's why it costs a bit less than other schools. In the restaurant, students can eat what they want, basic or luxury meals. Seeing as we have students from different countries, it wouldn't be fair to give the same meal to everybody. Students can also cook their own meal in the dorm Kitchen"

That's kind of smart actually. I never did get it with the Original Material, Hogwarts only offers the basic old English food they have served for centuries.

Roast beef, roast chicken, pork chops and lamb chops, sausages, bacon and steak, boiled potatoes, roast potatoes, fried potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, peas, carrots, and gravy.

I like bacon and chicken as much as the next guy. But where is the pasta, the pizza, the vegetable fried rice/noodles?

I'm sure some students got sick and tired of eating the same meals over and over again. But they couldn't do anything about it other than wait for a Hogsmeade weekend to go out and eat.

"How do you deal with the discrimination? Between the rich and the poor. The restaurants should offer then the perfect opportunity to show off"

Benjamin bellowed at that "We don't have things like that. As I said only talent and skill matter. Everyone is extremely focused on their studies here. After all if they slip up they can be expelled. They don't have time to bicker and argue with each other.

Everyone tries to learn as much as possible. The elites even skip grades. The faster they finish their education. The faster they can get a good job.

Our best students get a Gold Recommendation letter from us, which will help them out a lot in their endeavors, they can't afford to bully anyone and have the slightest black mark on their records. If they have a mark their chances of getting that letter are lowered.

The other students who while weren't the best are extremely competent and talented in their own right, also get letters, but Silver ones. But those don't open quite as few doors as the Gold ones. Competition is extremely ruthless here."

Now that's what I call an effective system. Not that joke of a system that Hogwarts uses. Giving or taking away points that only give a trophy at the end of the year, and that trophy exchanges hands each year. Hogwarts uses peer pressure, the houses themselves force the children to act in certain ways, within certain rules.

While Salem uses Incentives. And there are no houses here. Kids and teenagers bond over their education and passions. Study groups are quite common. After all they allow them to learn at a faster rate. I'll give you advice on Charms you give me advice on Potions. A win-win.

~Dorms.

Harry and Hope are given one of the couple's 'apartments' instead of a single small college room each. 

Naturally, the Apartment here costs more. But being the Boy-Who-Lived has its privileges. Harry specifically asked for Hope to be in the same room as him. 

'What's the point of having an assistant if he or she isn't there to assist you?' was what Harry told Benjamin 

Both of them also have multi-compartment trunks. Harry has one extra for his plants. An expanded trunk like Newt Scamander's. It has a huge space in it with different biomes for different plants.

They cost a lot but it was worth it. Harry just makes potions and sells them through Melinda on the black market. His potions are worth a lot more since they are very good. 

They were currently selling them under Melinda's underworld name. Grandine. Which Harry thought hilarious. 

She mostly sells enchanted items. So her maker mark is an open book with symbols and the name GRAN DINE on the top of the two pages

She also thought Harry this magic but he didn't know what to use as a maker's mark. He decided to wait until he has learned a bit more magic before starting his brand. It would be a pity to just make a potion logo. He definitely won't be selling just potions. 

And the brand will have to be exclusive. What's the point if he works all the time? The goal is to make high-quality products. So that he can trade for other things or just get money to fund his experiments.

Harry doesn't have access to his fault. Gringotts is only located in Britain. There are many other banks in the world. Unfortunately, all the money that he was supposed to inherit from his family is stuck there. And he isn't strong enough yet to just walk in there and take it all out.

BumbleDoor defiantly has bribed a few goblins to inform him if someone comes to unfreeze the Potter accounts. 

For the past hour. Harry and Hope have been setting up security measures. Wards, Traps, Magecraft and his familiars. 

$ If anybody enters without my or Hope's permission. Feel free to kill them$ Harry spoke to his 3 snakes.

$No problem Harry$ Sabrina the Malabar Pit Viper nodded

$ You got it boss $ Salazar the King Cobra said with an excited tone

$ I'm hungry $ Sabrina, the mystery of the trio. She was an unknown magical snake that had a fast metabolism. She was often hungry and seemingly had a bottomless stomach.

Harry was quite curious of her species so he kept her around to see what he can learn from her.

"Nala, Kiara, that goes for you two. Feel free to attack anybody who enters without us" He turned to the lionesses in their cub forms. 

"Gruf" "Rawr"

Both cubs showed that they understood the order.

Harry turned to Hope who was kneeling down and petting the 'cubs'

"Let's set up shop. We have lessons tomorrow and I would like to get my Potion, Runecrafting and Research stations set up" 

"Okay" Hope nodded but she was still a bit sad about leaving Melinda. 

Harry sighed when he saw her like this " If we finish quickly, I will use magecraft to call Melinda so that you can see her" 

Hope instantly perked up at that. She quickly jumped into the suitcases to start making preparations. 

Harry chuckled at her attitude and also joined her. He had a lot of specialized equipment so this was going to take a while.
