2 Waking up!

"-- ------ ---- --ver!", a female voice sounded.

'Fuck, my head hurts like it exploded! … Wait! It did! What the fuck? Where am I? Am I dead? It hurts so much', Sebastian thought, 'I should stop think-OUCH! Why can't I open my eyes?'

"Yes, but why so suddenly? Yesterday he was just fine?", a male voice said.

"I don't know. But we should call a healer, it seems serious.", the female voice proposed.

'A healer- OUCH- a healer sounds strange, do they -ouch- … mean a doctor?'

"Yes, I agree, but we both know that we, as squibs, don't get preferential treatment from them and we barely have enough money to ask them for help. As awful as it sounds, can we even allow ourselves to get a healer for him?", the male answered.

'Squibs?', Sebastian nearly blacked out, whether out of shock because of the familiar word or because of the pain wasn't clear.

"I know, but we must. We both have seen that he did accidental magic several months ago. Sure, it only happened once, but maybe it is enough to get him into school! Then we and him would be safe!", the female voice nearly shouted.

'What does she mean maybe? What is happening? Am I dreaming?'

"Yes… I will go to New Coven Market, get some money and try to get us one of the healers. Luckily the St. Ulrich hospital has been relocated there after the war, so I won't have to use the floo two more times. See you in a bit.", the male voice conceded.

"Yes, but watch out.", the women answered as steps resounded. "Sebastian. Are you awake?"

Sebastian tried to nod but his headache intensified and he fell asleep.

-HP-

When Sebastian awoke, he was able to open his eyes, but his body seemed to tired to move even a little bit. 'Urgh, at least I can open my eyes now. Hey! My headache is gone. That's good. Now, where the hell am I. The last thing I remember before the weird conversation is the day at the Bundestag. The Bomb! Shit!', Sebastian panicked and tried to look around, but his head would only barely turn.

He saw a plain looking room. Not much colour and a bit old-school. He was in a rather big bed which seemed a bit too big. To his left was a nightstand with a small lamp on it and to his right was a simple wooden desk with a wooden chair in front of it. On it were several books, a lamp and a stack of paper placed neatly on top of each other.

On the left, next to the desk, was a wooden cabinet, which too seemed oddly big.

'Wait..', it hit him as he began to feel his body, 'why am I so small? My hands and feet feel way smaller. Am I a child? Is this some reincarnation bullshit the others told me about? Wow. If that's true I feel truly stupig for hating on isekei and fanfiction. And what did they say? Squibs? Healer? Am I in Harry Potter? I only know canon and some stupid theories and speculations the others dragged me into. But maybe it was all just a bad dream, and I am still dreaming, lets wait and see. Maybe I-'

Sebastians thoughts were interrupted when the door opened with a squeak. A fairly young- and good-looking woman wearing an old school dress came inside. She had long and brown hair flowing down behind her shoulders with healthy light skin and brown eyes which widened in surprise when she saw him looking back at her.

"Sebastian!", she cried out loud as she dropped the box she was holding and ran to his left side, "How are you feeling?", she asked as she began holding his hand.

'Huh, who is she? Am I not dreaming? This is too realistic! Did I truly die?'

Overwhelmed with the situation and his thoughts, Sebastian asked dumbly, "Who are you?"

The woman looked back at him, apparently in shock, her mouth gaping as she slowly began to cry. The crying became louder until a man with black hair, light skin and green eyes wearing black clothing stormed into the room.

"Erika! What happened?", his voice stopped abruptly. "…Sebastian? You're awake? Why is your mother crying?", he asked in a rushed tone.

Now it was Sebastians turn to gape. 'My mother? I suppose I know who my mother is and that isn't her. The only possibility-' Sebastian was interrupted in his thoughts as the man rushed to him and began holding his other hand because he started to pale.

"Are you alright? Please, answer me!", the man said in a pleading voice.

"Uhm..", Sebastian's mind tried to produce any coherent thought. "I suppose? I just don't remember…", he stopped.

"Oh... now I know why your mother is crying. The healer managed to save you but we didn't realise your dragon pox early enough as we aren't magical. He said you would be lucky if it doesn't leave you disabled, but you might loose most of your memories because… I don't know why. I am so sorry…", the man pressed out the last words as tears started to flow from his eyes but he managed to catch himself.

He went to the woman now known as Erika and tried to comfort her. After a few minutes she finally stopped crying. "Oh Friedrich, it is so awful! He doesn't even remember us anymore."

"Yes, Erika, but at least he survived, and we can make new memories together as long as we have each other", the man said and then turned to Sebastian. "I am Friedrich Roth, your father. And this is Erika, your mother. You are our adopted son, Sebastian Roth. We don't know when you birthday is, but we celebrate it at Christmas as it is the day we adopted you and currently you are nine years old. Do you remember?", Friedrich asked.

"Ugh. No?", Sebastian said as he tried to catch up with the situation.

"Okay, lets start slow. Come, lets take you to our dining room so you can at least get your nutrients. And meanwhile we can look through our picture album together. Maybe then you remember. Can you put your arms up?", Friedrich asked.

Sebastian complied, though it took some effort to lift his arms up. When they were high enough, Friedrich grabbed him under his arms and pulled him out of the bed and carefully set Sebastian with his feet on the ground.

"Careful, you have been asleep for three weeks.", Friedrich said to Sebastian while he continued to support him from behind. Sebastian tried to take a step and it worked! After several steps Erika hurried in front of him to open the door of the room. Behind it was a brightly lit and cosy dining room with a round table with three chairs, a kitchen and a couch with an TV and a radio on the opposite wall. Behind the couch were a lot of picture frames with what seemed to be Erika, Friedrich and a child which looked exactly like Sebastian from when he was younger on the pictures within.

A thought ran through Sebastians head, 'At least I look the same. Too bad actually, I aint exactly a looker. But something is strange. I suppose I really died and changed to another body, but why don't I feel sad or miss my parents. Wait. What were their names again. It seems so blurred. Ah… it seems that's why… but lets look at it from the bright side. Maybe I can actually do Magic! Motherfucking MAGIC! But I first have to figure out why they said I could maybe go to school. Something seems wrong.'

His excited thinking was interrupted when Friedrich lowered Sebastian on a chair in front of the table and his mother… Wait. Erika put a bowl of soup in front of him.

While eating Erika and Friedrich began to show him pictures, which weren't moving, of him and them together from the last years.

Sebastian learned that they both worked in a post office. They didn't have any other qualifications as they were locked up when it was known that they were squibs because of the cleansing done by MACUSA, the British Ministry of Magic and the UDSSR in the time after the second world war. Only after several years were they thrown out, something about saving their own but them dishonouring their blood and that bullshit.

Sebastian had to interrupt several times for them the explain a few words and what Squibs were. Unluckily they didn't want to talk about their own families except them knowing each other as they were very distant cousins.

After a lot of explaining and discussion, Sebastian finally had the chance to ask the questions that pressured him the most, while he didn't want to show that he could remember them talking when he first woke up.

"Am I a squib? And can I go to a magical school?"
