3 Magic?

Erika and Friedrich stopped. Looked each other in the eyes and seemed somewhat pained.

'Oh no, please no, don't let me be a squib!', Sebastian panicked, even though he knew he already did accidental magic once.

Erika took a deep breath and said, "Look Sebas, we can't be sure. Well, you did accidental magic some months ago, but it was a onetime thing. Nothing has happened since. And you have to understand that things have changed. The world isn't the same it was a few years ago."

Friedrich continued, "Every magical society has been heavily influenced by the second world war and then something changed in our society again. It happened 1981, I think it was the 31st of October. We don't know much, because we are squibs, but we know that unlike before, not everyone has been accepted to our German magical school. Its name is Blackwald Institute of the Arcane. But maybe that name changed as well. You see, Germany has been split up, but our society hasn't and now there are rumors that there is a conflict between us as well. You will have to wait and see, but with what you have shown until now…" Friedrich stopped talking but it was enough.

Sebastian was at his limit. Not only did he die and he didn't feel shit about it, but he is in a poor family of squibs, weak af and maybe a squib-wizard with prowess like Nevill in his first few years of school. AND… he is in Harry Potter, but a lot is different from how it is portrayed in the books, and he is living in Germany. Sure, he loves Germany, but have you ever actually heard of Germany in Harry Potter? No!

Sebastians anger kept on growing and his body began to feel bubbly, like there was something raging about inside of him.

'Crack'

His bowl broke in two.

'Crack' 'Wvroom'

The table broke and crashed to the ground.

Sebastian didn't even realize that it happened while his parents stared at him like they had won in a lottery and were afraid of the money being stolen at the same time, because Sebastian didn't look well.

He turned an unhealthy shade of white, his eyes widened, and he fainted.

When Sebastian awoke, he was lying in his bed. Again.

'Did I faint? Was I so angry? Can that even happen?'

He groaned and someone next to him shrieked. Sebastian turned his head and looked at his mother, eyes wide open while she threw herself at him.

"Sebas! I am so happy! You did accidental magic!! You did it! I am sure you will be accepted! Not even my siblings were able to do that when it happened!"

"What? What happened? I don't remember.", Sebastian groaned. 'Do I constantly lose my memories?'

"Well, you broke your bowl and our table. Just by looking at it!", she replied excited.

"Wow. I suppose that's good. What do I do now? Do I get to read books, or can someone teach me?", Sebastian asked excited.

"No, that won't be possible. First of all, we as squibs aren't allowed to own magical books and you aren't allowed to practice unless you are picked up early by the school. Secondly, magic can be very dangerous when practiced without a teacher or someone magical nearby. And we aren't allowed to be that someone."

"What can I do then? Do I just have to wait? Why?", Sebastian urged.

"I seriously don't know. We would have to wait for your father to return. He went to New Coven Market to do some research, but I doubt there would be anything much different from what I just said. Sorry.", she replied, seeing the sadness growing inside of Sebastian.

Friedrich returned, not really having found any other information. They settled on telling him what they knew, which wasn't much, and buying him magical story books they were allowed to buy, which also weren't a lot.

Sebastian accepted his fate and resigned to reading and occasionally exploring New Coven Market with his father. Unluckily they weren't allowed to go to a lot of places.

He had the idea to practice occlumency, but either you needed someone to help you, or he didn't have a good method of training, or he was just shit at it.

Time flew by, Sebastian learned nearly nothing but was able to accept and connect to his new family. His only advances in occlumency were reigning his emotions though only if they weren't too much.

The day they had waited for finally came.

'ring-ring'

'ring-ring'

"Sebas, can you please open the door? I'm currently cooking.", his mother yelled from the kitchen.

"Yeah, yeah.", Sebastian replied from his room, stood up from his bed and went to the frontdoor.

"Hello?", he asked.

In front of him stood a man in a long black robe (look at the cover), black leather boots and a black mask covering his mouth and nose. He had brown eyes, though they seemed to shimmer and in the next second they changed to blue. His hair was covered by a black hood. In his left hand, covered by a black glove, was an unremarkable wand without any outstanding features.

But the most special thing about him was a sigil on his left chest picturing a dark forest with some weird symbols flying slowly through the trees and a large 'R' in the center.

"Good morning mister Roth. I am ---------, a recruiter for the Blackwald Institute of the Arcane. I am here to talk to you about your choices and near future. May I come inside?", the man said.

"Uhm. What's your name again? I think I didn't understand.", Sebastian asked instead.

"You won't be able to understand if you don't get the schools permission or if you aren't strong enough", the man replied and pointed inside with his hand, a questioning look in his now green eyes.

"Yeah, yes, please come inside", Sebastian answered and opened the way for the man to walk inside. "Mother, father, someone from school is here to talk!", Sebastian yelled inside.

When they were all seated around the 'new' table with the man sitting on a chair he conjured for himself, he began to explain.

"As I have mentioned, I am a recruiter for the Blackwald Institute of the Arcane and I wish to talk to you about Sebastians choices and his imminent future. As you might know, a lot has changed. The Blackwald Institute has been rebuilt after the second world war and our priorities have changed a few years ago. We fused with the small schools of Austria, and we only recruit the most promising youngsters. If you weren't such a person, you would have gotten just enough education so you don't go crazy or you would have been sent to another school".

Seeing that Sebastian wanter to ask something, he continued.

"Please don't interrupt. Thank you."

"So. The thing is: You have enough potential, but you have also been invited to Beauxbatons in France and Durmstrang in the north of Europe. Where you go is your choice but be warned."

"If you want to leave our country, we will have to wipe all your relevant memories and you and your parents won't know each other anymore. You will be sent there without any memories of your roots. And don't worry about your education. I can't say a lot, but I am sure that we and them are at least on the same level so there are no benefits in going there."

"You will have to decide now.", the man finally finished.

Sebastian looked at his parents. They looked how he felt. Scared.

"Why?", he finally asked.

"Security.", the man just said.

"Okay. I like my country so I will be going to Blackwald Institute of the Arcane.", he answered the man's earlier question.

It wasn't the complete truth though, sure, he liked Germany, but Beauxbatons and Durmstrang had something about them that was actually magical. And he at least knew a little bit about them from the books and it didn't sound bad. But in the end, he didn't want to lose his parents forever. After their time together in the last few years, they just meant too much for him.

"Good. But we will have to lock your parents' memories when you go. Just for about three years.", the man said sternly. "We will go now; I have a lot to do. When we come back you will have around two days before you will be taken to a safe house before school. Don't try to resist.", the man said and grabbed his arm.

The world blurred and Sebastian felt like he had to vomit.
