16 For the greater good!

[A/N: There is a lot of thought and effort in this chapter, though there might still be plotholes or errors. Comment on errors and plotholes and I'll try fix them.]

The spell shot at Andreas, but instead of hurting him, the spell went right through his body, doing no damage at all.

"Clap, clap, clap"

Sebastian was confused and turned his head towards Marc, only to see Simon become illusory and then, disappearing like he was never even there.

"Wha-", Sebastian tried to press out.

"You did well Sebastian. You passed the test.", Marc said, an appreciating smile on his face.

Sebastian looked at Andreas, only to see nothing. He was gone.

"Let me explain.", Marc said and went on to explain the whole situation.

All of it was an illusion. Simon was not real, this Andreas neither. Andreas had a different test, and his test was not about fighting, but something else.

"Your results in the forest were very good, but something was missing that would qualify you and show us that you would be able to walk the way we want to offer to you. Because that something was missing, you had to go through this special test that was only set up for you, so you are going to be the only person having gone through all this. We are not dumb enough to do this with everyone, but we knew you could handle it."

"We hope that this is also going to motivate you, Sebastian. The world is dangerous and soon, you will know why. I, a normal 7th year student could make you kill someone. What do you think the real elite of our world would be able to do?"

"I –", Sebastian wasn't able to answer. What they had made him go through was horrible and he wanted to shout at him, hurt him. He forced him to do something unforgivable. But something inside of him told him, that it was normal. The strong suppressed the weak and Sebastian did not even want to think about what would have happened if the terrorists of his past life had been trained wizards.

Sebastian also realized that there had to be things he didn't know about yet. The reason this Harry Potter world was so strange and why everyone was so secretive about everything.

"Sebastian, know that we value you and your talent, just as we value Andreas. We would not sacrifice you needlessly.", Marc tried to reassure him, but it was a bit hard to believe.

"Then why did you have to test me like this and threaten me?", Sebastian asked.

"As I have said: We needed to know if you would be able to use our offer. If not, you would have stayed a normal student, maybe a bit above average in term of fighting, but still nothing compared to trained wizards. You also would have nearly no resources compared to what we could give you."

"Do the teachers know about all this?", Sebastian questioned further.

"Yes, it would be hard to make that many students go missing without the realizing it.", Marc answered, making Sebastian stunned and confused.

"What do you mean, that many students? Only two were missing?", Sebastian asked, though he already had a conjecture.

"I guess it is time to unlock your memories, huh?", Marc proposed and cast a spell on him.

Suddenly, he remembered that there were around 250 students in the safe house, only 167 reached school. And he remembered Alexander and the others of their group.

"The rest was already sent where I am to go?", Sebastian asked, though he already knew the answer.

"Yes, the inauguration is this evening. It was delayed, to look after a few last promising talents, so that you can start school together.", Marc explained, a bit more open and detailed in his answers.

"What do you say? Do you accept? Do you wish to be more than a normal student and to have the possibility to become strong?", Marc asked.

Sebastian did not know. He still was not content with what happened, but with the knowledge of his weakness and a choice to change it, he wanted to accept. He does not fell anything about his former parents and his past life, but he surely did not want to die again. And he did not want to be at the mercy of others.

If need be, he would accept and grow stronger. Strong enough to be independent and protected. Even if he would need to go through something like this again.

"Yes, I accept."

[A/N: His bloodline is making him calm down and guiding him, amplifying his need to become stronger. To be the hunter, not the prey. (His bloodline is not OP and only has a few small special traits that can be trained by anyone with a lot of dedication.)]

Sebastian was sent to his room, as the inauguration was later this day. It was still hard to control his rage and emotions in general, but he was calm when thinking about his goal.

Still, all of that had tired him out a lot and he did not even really get any sleep that night. Therefore, he slept like a stone and when he woke up hungry, a plate with some food, warm and cold, was prepared on a small table besides his bed. At least he would not have to stay hungry.

The door opened and Marc's voice woke Sebastian out of his half-sleep.

"Come, we have to go.", Marc said.

Dragging himself out of his room, Sebastian saw Andreas standing in front of his own room. He could not stop himself and ran to Andreas, giving him a short, firm hug.

"What's wrong Sebastian. Did you become interested in me?", Andreas joked and wriggles his brows.

"No! I was just happy to see you. You were accepted too? What was your test?", Sebastian shot out questions.

"Yes, yes. I was accepted. And I was locked in some kind of room with a clue on how to escape. I had to learn a new spell, provided on a paper and I figured out how to use it in combination with another transfiguration spell. Then, I had to repeat that with another, more difficult spell. And after a few hours, I was able to ace the test and 'break' out of that locked room. I was very hard, I tell you.", Andreas told Sebastian. "What was your test?", he then asked.

"I- ", Sebastian was interrupted by Marc, who told them to get their wand/staff and then proceeded to grab their shoulders.

With a plop and a small, disturbing feeling in their stomachs, the were portkeyed to some kind of hall with a few windows and a curved ceiling, five metres above the ground. There was a stage, with a lectern and a modern looking blackboard in the front. Then, there were a lot of chairs, neatly placed next to each other all over the room in a few rows and separated into a left and right block.

"Sebastian, you sit somewhere on the right, Andreas, you will have to sit on the left. Sorry, those are the rules.", Marc said, turned around and walked through an archway leading to a corridor.

A few seconds after they sat down, a lot of students looking their age came inside and sat down to the left or to the right, depending on the letter on their sigil, as Sebastian realized. The ones on his side wore a sigil with the letters 'B.A.', while the others had an 'M.D.A.' on their sigil.

All in all, there were around eighty students. Thirty on his side and fifty on the other.

After the students, three adults came inside. In the middle was a man of tall and wide stature in an official and expensive looking robe and combed, black hair, though he looked friendly and smiled at them. To his left was Professor Krieg, their DADA professor, and on the right was a woman in a normal wizarding robe, wearing a pointed hat. She had shoulder long, brown hair.

After they stepped on the stage, the man in the middle turned to the students and began speaking, after all noise had settled down.

"Welcome, students, to the German Blackwald Institute of strength and research. All of you have special abilities and talents that we, the German Ministry of Magic and our partner, the Austrian Council of Magic want to nurture and cultivate to be the backbone of our return to be an international powerhouse amongst wizarding nations.", the man began and paused to let the students whisper amongst each other.

"Those of you, that come from a magical background might know me, or what I am about to tell you, but let me assure you that you know nearly nothing of the international secrets and developments so far. Soon, you will know more, because you qualify, because you need to know to lead our nation to greatness for our good, for the good of your family."

"FOR THE GREATER GOOD!"

[A/N: They do not hate muggles or follow Grindelwald's old agenda. That was his past way to rally followers as he and Dumbledore fought because of an idea they had. Dumbles won and what he did with that win will be explained in the next chapter. Grindelwald is Germany's/Austria's secret backer in terms of knowledge and magical research. This is AU.]

There are more reasons for Sebatians future behaviour and 'forgiveness' in the next chapter.

Shoutout to Ichigo_Kurosaki_1799 for a few of his comments that helped me correct a few things and write more about the reason behind some actions in the ff.
