38 Hay Fever

"So someone from our enemies side is gonna come check up on us like some sickly child, all while we're preparing for a war against them.

If he doesn't return, they'll send an army out and subjugate us.

If he sees us preparing and tells them... They'll send out a bigger army..."

"Correct."

Sitting on a half broken couch inside of a somewhat cramped room, Camellia and Zeph sat across from each other with a rough looking sheet on a table that has seen better days being the main focus of their attention.

'We can't stop them...'

All of our preparations for The Coupe are all centered in main spots of the city, that the enemy would obviously visit, and or go through.

If this guy is acting as their scout, then we're working on literally every single spot he would check, which would only make him check the other spots he normally wouldn't check...

'So this is it then huh..?'

"We will have to talk it over some more tomorrow. You should get some rest for tonight."

Standing up, he took the sheet and started putting it in a pile of other terribly organized papers and tools.

"Hm? I'm fine, this is too important, I'll just nap tomorro-"

"No. You're a child. Children need to sleep, so sleep."

"Chi-? I AINT NO KID DAMMIT"

Throwing a small tantrum, she put a foot on the table and shouted as her hair seemed to be set ablaze...

"Yea yea."

Only to be picked up by Zeph with only one arm and brought to the girls' bedroom by force.

--

Now laying in bed, sandwiched between the two young sleeping girls, Camellia laid there, arms crossed, with an unimpressed face.

<You truly never do learn don't you~?>

'Oh shut up. Not like I can learn when everything and anything is out of my control anyways.'

<I don't think you throwing tantrums is out of your control dear...>

'Yea well, maybe if they didn't piss me off, then... I would... Be more in control..?'

"Out of control..?"

<That doesn't quite make sense dear... Maybe that ugly man was right after all. You should get some sleep~>

"THATS IT?!"

Jumping up onto her feet, Camellia threw her arms up and shouted with all her might, waking up the two poor girls who were desperately trying to get some sleep after a long day's work.

"Haah? Camel- ah, Cami, sorry. What's wrong?"

Slowly sitting up, she rubbed her eye as she looked up at the girl burning with passion, with a gaze that gleamed and seemed to have something else to it. An extra layer of excitement that rookies get when they finally manage to score their first goal.

Their first victory before the game has even finished. To some, an early celebration is exactly how it sounds; pre-emptive. To others however, it's a point of inspiration that can lead a team to victory.

"OOOOOOOOOYYYYYY"

Sadly this time, it seemed to be the first option as Camellia and the two girls quickly assume sleeping positions and pretend to sleep after feeling the whole house vibrate.

'Mm, That should work. Well, might work* but might is more than enough for now.'

Yo! Instructor Jaxx here!

Oh man, been a while eh?! Well, let's guess why I'm cutting off the story at such an important time?

[Would it be to waste time while you think of a plot point?]

Yes!-

...

I have been informed that the answer I was supposed to give is actually no.

{Explain}

Bing bing~!

[So vague...]

The plan! Our ~new~ main character is a bit bad at explaining things so I'm here to do it for them!

-You are the same person-

Anyways!

To start off, every class must be taught the fundamentals before before they can be asked questions!

Right now, The village is known as a bunch of brute, stupid savages. A village unable to stand up, unable to fix their villages underlying issues, only drowning themselves to death in their own sucky and bad habits!

But... is that such a bad view for the humans to have of them?

The biggest flaw in human nature is over, and underestimating. Giving creatures and humans alike pre determined levels of intelligence, strength and will!

So, for the first proper question; What would happen if you go somewhere expecting something to happen... Only for it to be the opposite of what you expected?

[Hmm... I suppose I'd be shocked?]

{Excited}

W- well only bloodthirsty people would be excited really... Shocked! You'd be stunned, flabbergasted! Your views and morals would be questioned and tested!

And if there's one thing humans hate more than over priced goods and plastic packaging, it's having their whole image questioned!

[Those.. seem to be on different levels of importance...]

YEA?! Well how about you try and break open some of that stuff without scissors made of steel!

*Ahem* Onto her plan.

Say the broken down, super old and beaten up, calm village... was the opposite by the time the man arrives.

Say the man, having seen the village that stayed stagnant of centuries, suddenly went back and told his superiors they'd done a total 180.

Say their scout went back and told his boss. He's been wrong about something the entire time.

[Hmm, that would probably make whoever is in charge think they are being toyed with... but...]

{Gamble}

Mm, exactly. It's a massive gamble of an idea. To send back their trustworthy scout to say a man who was picking his nose is now an astrophysicist, that an overweight lazy man is now a national level athlete. Though it's strange and could be simply laughed off-

[It would still be physically possible, just very improbable...]

Bing bing~

But... What if he went back and said say,that someone in a vegetative state jumped to the moon?

[What?]

{Confused}

Oho? What's to be confused about? I saw it with my own eyes! A snake made of flames jumped out of a woman's mouth! Then an imp the size of a titan laughed at me!

[What in the name of... Have you lost your mind- .... Haha! I see! You really are one smart guy huh Jaxx? Maybe even comparable to me! When I was a toddler deity at least.]

{Insanity}

Bing Bing~~!!!

My my! What smart students I have! 12 points to all!

Why make him simply go back and say things that seem like lies... When we can make it seem he's lost his mind?

Slip a known hallucinogen into his caravan. Why make someone question him, when we can make him question himself right in front of his boss!

[Hmm, all while making his boss believe he had simply been a drug user who was under the influence. 10/10 plan if I do say so myself!]

{Fever dream}

Whoa~ a whole 2 words from Mr Beast! This plan must've really shocked him huh?

{Mm}

<My~ So talkative today wolfy~>

{Beast*}

[How did he just talk with an asterisk?]

**

"I see... Fever dream..?"

"Right! I can use my illusion flames on some kites made from my string and make him lose it!"

"Hmm... Well it is the best we've got."

"Right... Cami, how confident are you that you can pull it off?"

As they all sat around a table with all the hotshots of the village, Camellia explained her plan to them all with excitement and joy.

'Even miss snake lady agreed to try my plan hehe~ I'm just the smartest aren't I~~~'

<Now now~ though I can agree that it's a smart plan, it's only smart in theory. You sure you can pull it off? Maybe running is the best->

"97%! I'm 79% sure itll work at least 60% of the time!"

She somehow said a string of uncertainty with the most confident face in the world as if 60% were the same as 100, causing Zeph to face palm and leave Maki stunned for a few seconds.

"Thats..."

*Sigh* "This is what we get for listening to a stupid kid."

Standing up, she picked up her stack of papers that laid in front of her before walking towards the exit. Before leaving however, she grabbed The papers in front of Camellia that were covered in drawings as if they were instructions.

"Pfft, truly a child to the core huh."

"Wait! I need those to continue my work around the village!"

"Hm? You really think you have time to build those fancy kites and work around the village? The scout comes tomorrow at noon. Get on it pipsqueak."

'Eh?'

Dumbfound in her chair, She couldn't help but zone out, as if her soul was lifting out of her head.

"That is how it is. Get to work Cami."

Pushing her soul back in her body with a tap on the head, Zeph reassured her before grabbing the rest of her papers,

"Hehehe..."

<I thought I told you to stop making that face~>

***Oh just let her! She only does it when she thinks of something good!

[Right, she barely does that last part too.]

{Empty}

'HEY! MY BRAIN IS NOT EMPTY!

The final day of the Forest Elves' Village;

--3 Days remaining--
