3 Curing & Preparation

A week had passed since I took over the body of Bell Agnus, the shitty side villain who sexually harassed one of the female protagonists.

In that short span, I had successfully acquired all the codes that were in driving proximity of the city. A total of fifteen.

The first day was the most fruitful but after a while, the path to get to these codes got increasingly more difficult because although I remembered how the main character got to the codes, words don't particularly translate completely in person.

Meaning that I still had to search for the clues myself. One of them involved finding a book in the city library.

That took me nearly the whole day because all that the clue said was, "Find the book out of place. When you open it, the pages should be empty."

What a boring clue. No riddle, no fancy words, nothing.

But regardless, the actual process to find the specific book the clue was speaking about made me want to blow my brains out.

I had to go through the entire library which was organized by the author's last name and the genre of the book.

Because the novel never specified the genre section the book was in, I didn't have the liberty to shorten my search period.

A lot of books, surprisingly, were out of place because people would take one out and then put them back somewhere else after they decided not to check it out.

Another flaw about this entire thing was thousands of people enter this library every day. The fact that no one accidentally stumbled upon the book before the main character was absurd.

Surely, if the novel was logically written, someone else would've found it in the many years that it was in the library and then they'd proceed to hand the book over to the librarian in confusion about why it was empty.

I was hanging out with my little sister, Rubi. She was absolutely adorable and according to Bell's memories, he loved her more than anything in the world.

Why would someone who loves his mother and his little sister to this extent commit such a heinous crime to a woman because of such a small incident?

It makes zero sense and again, justifies why the shitty god was a terrible writer.

Holding her up in my arms, the two of us were walking in the Agnus garden.

"Higher," said Rubi.

"Rubi, are you trying to kill my arms?" I asked her, still obliging her wishes.

Why was I hanging out with my little sister?

Firstly, most importantly, she was adorable and I loved spending time with her. With Bell's memories becoming my own, it felt like she was my own sister.

Secondly, I was trying to find a specific flower in the garden. With how large it was, I was convinced that it was here somewhere.

But because of how large the garden was, it also made it hard to prove whether or not I was correct in my conviction.

"Brother, we've been walking in the garden for so long. Can we leave now?" asked Rubi.

"'We've' been walking? I've been carrying you the entire time," I chuckled. "I'm looking for a flower. Can you help me?"

"Yes!" she said, moving her head around as if she trying to find it.

"I haven't even told you what we're looking for," I laughed. "It's a pink flower with five to seven petals. It's white in the middle and it's about this big."

I showed her the size using my fingers.

Like a terrible spy, she helped me look around the garden for the specific flower. She called out a few that fit the description but none of them were correct.

"Brother! Does this flower even exist?" she pouted, tired of searching.

"I'm sure it exists. Do you want to head inside?"

"Yes," she responded, resting her head on my shoulder. "What about that one?" she asked with a lack of enthusiasm as if prepared to hear me shake my head.

I turned around and looked where she was pointing at.

"Rubi! You did it!" I told her, giving her kisses on her squishy cheeks.

"I did? I did!" she cheered, raising her chest to the sky as if to brag.

"Thank you, Rubi."

"No problem brother. What are you going to do with it?" she asked me.

Putting her down, I asked her, "Can you help your brother out?"

Hearing that I needed her to help me again, she began puffing her chest out even further.

"Can you help me pluck these pink flowers? Be sure to get it by the stem. Not too many. I just need you to pluck ten."

"Sure," she said, dropping down to her knees. Carefully, she began to pluck these flowers.

By the time I finished plucking my twentieth, she finally finished with her requested amount.

Taking them from her, I carefully dropped them into a bag that I wrapped around my belt.

Picking Rubi back up, I began walking towards the mansion. "Let's head inside," I told her.

"Finally," Rubi sighed. "I've been waiting to get out of this Sun for so long."

Laughing at her reaction, I asked her, "Why didn't you head back by yourself?"

"Because I wanted to help you," she said, shaking her head as if my question was a dumb one. Resting her head on my shoulder, she closed her eyes and began to drift into sleep.

Carefully, I placed her down on the couch and began heading into my bedroom.

Taking two of the flowers that I had in the bag, I crushed them in my palms. Raising my arms towards the ceiling, I allowed the juices to slowly drip downwards.

"I vow to defeat the demon Diamesca by Thursday." Then the juices began to light up and white covered the entire room for a few seconds before vanishing, along with any sign of the two flowers.

This was how to fulfill an oath. You vow to do something, then set a date you'll do it by. Depending on the difficulty of the task and the time you've given yourself, the more usage of the codes you're able to acquire once you succeed in completing the oath.

Thursday was in two days.

That gave me one and a half days to prepare and another to head off to Diamesca's location and slay him.

Grabbing my wallet from my room, I began heading out. Mother was in the kitchen cooking dinner when she saw that I was about to head out.

"Where are you going?" she asked while taste-testing the soup.

"Shopping," I answered.

"Okay. Be sure to take Jerman with you."

"I will," I responded.

Over the past week, Jerman and I had been together so often that Mother questioned if I no longer disliked him. Now that she understood that I no longer disfavored him, she no longer hesitated to assign him to me.

Gesturing with my head, I didn't even need to tell Jerman for him to begin following me.

As I was sitting in the car, I was thinking about the humorous nature of the shitty god writing a story about a demon king and his army of demons that terrorize the characters.

In a way, it was almost like writing a fan-fiction.

Getting out of the car, I walked into a weapon store.

Yes, although this world was in the modern era that paralleled if not exceeded the advancements of Earth, the fantasy nature of swords, magic, demons, etc., is reflected in the buildings.

Although my criminal face was known to everyone in the city, the power of the Agnus last name prevents people from confronting me.

I could see the dislike of me on the shopowner's face, but I could care less. It wasn't me who committed the crime. It was Bell, no, it was the shitty god.

Going through the hundreds of swords that were in this shop, I finally found what I was looking for. It was a rusted sword that looked like a crescent moon with how badly it was bent.

I purchased the sword despite the confusion on the owner's face and left.

Jerman drove me to a potion shop where I purchased holy water, a mana recovery potion, an eroding poison potion, and a small vial of griffon blood.

It was an expensive purchase, something that the average person in this world could never hope to afford, but with how many zeroes were in Bell's bank account, I didn't even hesitate to swipe the card.

I also purchased additional mana recovery potions and healing potions that weren't going to be included in the brew I was about to mix which I handed over to Jerman to carry.

Those potions were going to be my lifesavers during my battle against Diamesca.

The final thing I purchased from this story was bandages and a large bottle of mermaid tears.

Taking the four ingredients, I took an empty glass and began pouring them in in a specific order.

Moving the glass to mix the liquids, it began to turn a black color. Because I now trusted Jerman with my life, I didn't even bother to hide what I was doing from him.

Pouring the brew on the sword, slowly, the rust began to fall off and as if time was moving in reverse, the bend began to correct itself until I eventually had a beautiful sword in my hand.

"I feel like I can cut air itself," was what the main character said when he first wielded this sword that was cured by one of the female protagonists who was obsessed with swords.

It sounded like an exaggeration in the novel but now that it was in my hands, I understood what he meant.

I swung the sword and listened to the sound it made. It was almost as if an angel was whispering sweet things into my ear.

Handing the sword over to Jerman, I was satisfied to see that as soon as he held it in his hand, one of his eyebrows twitched. It wasn't much but just seeing that reaction made me want to celebrate.

"Soak the bandages with the tears then wrap it tightly around the blade," I ordered Jerman. If it was any ordinary bandage, it would be cut through instantly just by the mere touch of the blade.

Once he finished, I told him to carefully put the sword and the potions in the car.

As I waited for him to return, I just sat there on a bench and watched the busy street.

Other than the occasional magic spells being cast or a giant eagle flying across the sky with a human on its back, it reminded me of my home, my own city back on Earth.

I couldn't help but feel a little sting in my heart.

'I miss Earth.'
