Who’s to Blame: Part 1

//Reaperela's POV\\

I was walking down the sidewalk, enjoying the wonderful morning when, out of nowhere, a very tall man walked up in front of me.

"Hi, could you please move out of my way so I can continue walking?" I asked politely with a smile. "I need to meet up with a friend of mine and I'm already late."

The man just laughed, "I didn't know a freak like you could have any friends at all."

My ears fell and I looked down at the ground. He is right...I'm such a freak. Tears started trickling down my cheeks.

"Awww, is the little freak crying," he said, pretending to be sympathetic. "Stop crying you little b***h."

I sniffled and wiped the tears off my cheeks, my tail going in between my legs.

He yanked my head up by my hair so I was looking up at him and reared his fist back, ready to punch me. I closed my eyes and tried to brace myself for the pain that was about to come, but...nothing happened.

I slowly opened my eyes to see a large black German Shepard was on top of the man. The dog was growling and snarling. I could hear the sounds of clothing being shredded to pieces.

"Ah!! Get off me you stupid mutt!" The man shouted, trying to shove the dog off of him. "Help!! Please!"

My eyes widened, why would a regular dog help me? I thought to myself.

The dog got off the man and snapped it's teeth at him as he got up and ran away like the coward he truly was.

I bent down to the dog's level and started to pet it. "Thank ye so much," I said to the dog with a warm smile.

"You're very welcome," the dog responded back, it's tail wagging behind them as they leaned into my touch.

Being shocked that the dog responded, I quickly relaxed, knowing that I can understand her due to my powers. I kept petting the dog and giggled as it leaned into my touch even more, their tail tapping against the sidewalk.

The dog slowly pulled away as a small, orange striped kitten ran out of their hiding spot from behind some garbage cans. It rubbed against the dog and purred.

I awed at seeing this, my tail wagging furiously behind me. I, then changed into a Shetland Sheepdog and went up to the kitten. I laid down in front of them, my tail wagging nonstop.

"Hello, there, little one," I said nicely to the kitten. "I can also be a dog instead of a human."

The kitten's ears fell down flat and they hid behind the German Shepard.

"Sorry, she's not used to seeing other inus," the dog apologized, pushing the kitten back in front of me with it's paw. (The term inu is a Japanese term that is used in comics for people who can shapeshift into dogs and have animal characteristics)

"Hey, it's ok. I am not going to hurt ye," I said, then realized something. "Wait...what do ya mean by 'other inus'? I thought I was the only one." I looked up in confusion towards the German Shepard.

The dog shook their head, gently picking the kitten up by the neck and carrying them down the sidewalk.

"Hey, wait! I never got yer names. Mine's Reaperela," I explained, following them as they walked.

"Name's Dare," she said, it getting muffled by the little fluff ball in her mouth.

"Nice to meet ye, Dare," I said, smiling. I looked at the kitten. "And what's yer name, little one?"

"Precious," she said, sticking her sandpaper tongue out at me.

"It is nice to meet ye, too, Precious," I greeted, then remembered I had to go meet with my friend. "I have to go. I hope to see ye two around sometime. Bye!"

I started running to Aires' house, but then I felt someone pull my tail and I yelped in pain. I turned around to see a dog catcher had grabbed at my tail. Dare was right behind him and began growling. My ears go down as the dog catcher gets closer. Dare crouched down and pounced onto the dog catcher.

Seeing that Precious was standing out in the open, I quickly went in front of her to make sure she didn't get harmed.

"Precious, go hide. I don't want ye to get caught," I said, making sure the dog catcher didn't see me.

The small kitten mewled out, "Make sure she don't get hurt. Ok?" She quickly ran to an alleyway where I lost sight of her.

The dog catcher yanked Dare off of him and kept a tight hold of the back of her neck as she continued to snap and snarl at him.

I, then started to growl and turned back into my human form. "That's enough!" I shouted and my eyes glowed much darker, causing the dog catcher to look at me in complete terror. "I hate ye stupid humans picking on me because I am half demon and half inu." My wings appeared.

"What the fuck?" The dog catcher mumbled, looking up at me in annoyance.

Dare turned her head and bit his wrist. He cried out in pain, letting her

go as blood began running down his arm and dripping onto the sidewalk.

I started to calm down, knowing I can get out of control with my magic. My wings go away.

"Don't ever hurt me or my friends," I warned, my voice getting glitchier and darker.

The dog catcher just scoffed, kicking Dare in the side before walking away. Dare yelped and fell over, whimpering quietly. Precious ran out of her hiding spot to make sure Dare was alright.

I growled, but went down to Dare. "Are ye ok, Dare?" I asked as my hands started glowing green, ready to heal her.

She got up hesitantly, then shifted into her human form. "Y-Yeah, fine," she lied. She was tall, tan, and had a black pixie cut.

Precious shifted back into her human form and held her arms up to Dare, waiting to be picked up.

I put my hand on her side and started healing her. My ears went down as my side started to hurt. It's silly that whenever I heal someone I get their pain.

Dare shoved my hand away and picked Precious up, walking off. Obviously, she didn't want any of my help...

Looking down, I got up slowly, but yelped in pain. My eyes stop glowing and went to their normal dark brown, knowing exactly what was happening. All of my cuts began to reopen. I look up at the sky and hope I can make it to Aires' before I pass out.

//third POV//

"Can you believe her?" Dare growled, pacing in the middle of the alleyway with Precious in her arms. "Trying to heal ME?! Of all f***ing people. I can take care of myself!"

"Dare...," Precious whined as her ears went down. "I'm sweepy. Lemme sweep." She yawned, laying her head on Dare's shoulder and falling asleep.

Reaperela starts walking, then yelps and falls. Passing out from loss of blood.

Dare turns at the sudden sound, then rushes over to Reaperela. "Oh, sh*+!" She cursed, holding Reaperela's head up off the concrete.
