Game on part 1

As the teacher explains boring math equations I can't help but think about Jaki and how I'm going to be meeting her again today. This class felt longer and more boring than usual. If only it was science or literature but nope it just had to be math.

The fact that it was the last class before school ends also seems to make the wait even more unbearable.

Oh well I just have to endure it and I'll be on my way to see Jaki.

I thought I would be able to see her at school today but I guess she hasn't recovered completely yet.

"Slap!"

I snapped out of my day dream, as I felt my back being slapped by someone.

"Earth to Sandy, do you copy? Class is over."

I turn around and see Skylar messing about as usual.

"Sandy to Earth, copy. I require some fuel in the form of strawberry milk or else I'm afraid I won't be able to make it."

"Earth to sandy, sorry looks like we're going to have to let you go. My deepest apologies."

"Damn it, I can't believe this is how my journey comes to an end."

"Just kidding here you go. I did get you some strawberry milk from the vending machines earlier."

Skylar has always been a good friend. It feels like she can read my mind. Sometimes it feels like she knows that what I'm thinking before I even know it. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Skylar is a telepath.

"Thanks Skylar, you're the best!"

"Heh, heh. You don't have to tell me what I already know."

"You smug little devil."

Skylar and I both chuckle as we joke around. Some light-hearted fun is exactly what I needed after a long day of school.

"Soo you free for today after school?"

"Sorry Skylar I'm also busy today."

"I'll definitely make it up to you next time!"

"Oh well I kind of already had a hunch that you would be busy. Anyway what are you doing after school."

"Well you're not going to believe it but I'm going to Jaki's place."

"WHAT!? You're going to meetup with Jaki at her place!?"

"Shhhh, Skylar you're being too loud!"

"Well I definitely didn't see that coming!"

Looks like maybe Skylar can't read everything that is on my mind. Though to be fair even in my wildest dream I wouldn't have expected this either.

"I forgive you for not being free, but you gotta tell me the backstory to all this."

"Give me all the juicy details!"

"Yes, yes next time. To be honest I don't even know how all this happened. He he."

"Anyway not that school is over I need to go now."

"Go go you definitely don't wanna keep Ice Queen waiting, hah hah!"

I went home immediately after school. This time I am going to be bringing some ingredient from home so I can have free reign on what I can make.

I have decided that since Jaki liked my congee and is still sick, it might be nice to make some more soupy type food.

I grab some shredded chicken, corn, ginger, spring onion and eggs.

That's right I have decided on making some sweetcorn chicken soup. It has always been my comfy soul food. It might be simple but it just hits the right spot. Hopefully my soup can bring Jaki some comfort as well!

I gleefully walk towards Jaki's house after I have all the ingredients I need with me. Jaki's kitchen surprisingly has all the basic seasoning and sauces so I didn't have to bring any with me.

I wonder what Jaki's outfit will be today? I press the door bell this having' learnt my lesson last time.

The door opens and this time Jaki is wearing a cute fluffy blue onesie. Ahhhh Jaki looks so cute again today!

"Hey Sandy, come in please."

"Do you need help with the bag."

"It's alright I got it!"

When Jaki opened the door it felt like I could see a slight smile on her face. Maybe I am just seeing things since but I am pretty sure that I saw the corners of her mouth lift up slightly when she saw me. Maybe it is just wishful thinking, who knows.

I went inside and put all my ingredients in the fridge. Since I came here pretty early there is still some time until dinner.

So I don't have to start making the soup yet. Argh, but what do I do now, it feels a little awkward and I didn't take this into consideration when I was coming over.

"Hmm there is till some time before dinner Jaki is there anything you want to do?"

Jaki's eyes lit up once again.

"Well actually I do have one thing in mind that we can do."

She turns around and grabs a box that was sitting on the kitchen table. I didn't notice that it was there earlier because I was too focused on putting the ingredients in the fridge. But it definitely wasn't there yesterday.

I wonder if Jaki planned this in advance since she knew I was going to be coming.

Jaki dusts some dust of the box and then holds it in front her for me to see.

"I don't have much stuff around here but I do have a pretty good time killer, Connect Four."

Connect four!? I certainly wasn't expecting that, but maybe at this point I should expect the unexpected.

Connect four is a game I haven't played in ages. But I think it would be fun to play it again after so long.

And although Jaki doesn't show it much, I can tell that she is excited about playing connect four.

It is cute seeing her being excited, especially over something like connect four.

"So um, do you want to play?"

"Game on!"
