Anything to help

"Well Lucian, this large pile of muscle here is the deputy sheriff for this God-forsaken town, Tommy, and the gorgeous beauty with a sharp tongue over here is Alexandra," Lucifer told with a smirk earning an eye roll from Alexandra who couldn't keep her gaze on him for too long. He was only covered by the white towel which made concentrating on his beautiful face difficult.

"Alexandra, Tommy, it's a pleasure to meet you," Lucian said in a tired voice crossing his leg over the other

"Pleasure is all mine," Alexa said with a forced smile, "We have a few questions,"

"Please go ahead," He expressed unable to tear his gaze from her. There was something about her that caught his attention. He couldn't quite put a finger on it. Was it her beauty?, or perhaps her bold and fierce attitude?

He was consumed by different emotions, desire, lust, and empathy, emotions he had long forgotten, drenched in the horrors of his cursed fate and past. What is this emotion?, he thought unable to tear his gaze from her

He had felt this same emotion when their eyes first locked paths at the bookshop. It was an unexplainable feeling, the need to be with her and have her bare naked under the moonlight. Was she his...

"Were were you last night?," She asked, her appealing voice soothing the core of both brothers

"At home, unpacking and arranging stuff," He gave the exact response Lucifer had given, unknown to them he had been eavesdropping on their conversation the entire time, "Why?, did something happen?,"

"Four teenagers were found dead this morning, I found it strange that such a terrible incident happens the night of your arrival," Tommy said politely. Lucian although undeniably strange had a very calm and respectful aura. There wasn't any need to throw accusations at him. Lucifer rested his back behind the walls staring at her butt and listening to Lucian's words.

"Yes, it is strange," He said deep in thought, "But I assure you sheriff, my brother and I have nothing to do with this, We'd happily drop by the station to answer some more questions," He paused before adding, "Anything to help,"

At first glance, one would easily assume he was the better brother, possessing positive qualities his brother did not, unbeknownst to many, he was more cunning with an evil horrific reputation than his brother. He knew the right words to convey, the right tone, and the right expressions to portray, to convince anyone of his innocence.

"That..." Was easy, Tommy thought, Tsk...this was by far the better and sane brother. He was hard to dislike, "That would be great, could you drop by in a few hours?,"

"I'm sorry sheriff it wouldn't be possible, I have a lot of things to attend to, could we come over by seven at dawn?," He asked while Alexa stared suspiciously at him. He was being too nice for a pretty rich man. Besides it seemed almost as if he wanted to stay away from sunlight. First blocking of sunlight with his large black cotton then refused to come out to the sheriff's station.

To test her theory she moved toward the cotton and was about to spread it open to see his reaction when she felt a sudden and firm grip on her wrist

"Don't," It was Lucian. How did he get here so fast?, both Alexandra and Tommy thought in puzzlement. One moment he was seated and the next here he was

"Why?," She asked, "It's dark in here and it smells like death," She said earning a chuckle from Lucian. Seems his brother was right, she was indeed a feisty one. He revealed his fangs as his lips pulled upwards taking Alexa by surprise. Now that she saw it up close it seemed too unnatural. Lucian was even more of an enigma than his brother Lucifer.

"I have a condition that restricts me from exposure to the sun," He replied

"Wow, you sure have a lot of conditions that coincidentally describe a vampire," She chuckled while Lucifer broke out laughing. He was loving her more by the second.

"xeroderma pigmentosum," Lucian said

"Huh?, is that the language of weird you and your brother communicate with?, sorry I don't speak weird," She mocked while Tommy winced his brows letting out a frustrated sigh, maybe bringing her along was a bad idea

"It's a medical term that describes my condition," He replied with a smile ignoring her taunts which for some reason irked her. It was as though he saw and ignored her like a child who can't seem to shut up. Lucifer was loud and annoying while he was silent yet provocative.

"Forgive her behavior, Lucian," Tommy interrupted nudging her across the shoulder

"There's nothing to forgive, women are usually like this at that time of the month,"

"Huh!" Her eyes widened as her heart dropped to the pit of her stomach and a cold wave of dread washed over her at Lucian's words. How..how could he say something like that?, she thought with a glare. She wished the earth would open up and swallow her as both Lucifer and Tommy broke out into a peril of laughter.

"Now you see Alexa, it isn't so funny being on the receiving end of it, is it?," He let out a smile that irked her. He smiled like a father scolding his daughter. How could he have such an arrogant yet polite expression on his face?

"Be respectful Alexa," He said gently ruffling her hair

"Tsk," She clicked her tongue in distaste while her cheeks flushed red at the feel of his hands over her hair. She lifted her gaze to his beautiful face. He was as tall as Lucifer which made her crane her neck to meet his gaze.

He broke out a smile of innocence that momentarily seized her breath.

"Don't Don't don't," She chanted in her head. She could feel a strong emotion brimming to the surface as she took two steps backward. Lucian noticing the effect he had on her let out a small chuckle before returning to his seat. However, Lucifer witnessing the whole thing sent a glare at Lucian who felt confused at his reaction unknown to him that like him, Alexa was his destined mate.

"I'm truly sorry for such an unfortunate incident with the teenagers," Lucian gave his deepest condolences which both Tommy and Alexa bought,

"Thank you for your time, I'll see you later at the station," Tommy said earning a nod from Lucian. He walked away with Alexa trailing behind him. Stopping along the way to say

"My father owns the bookshop you took for shelter last night, you are welcome to come," She told Lucian who smiled at her sweet invitation

"Is this your way of asking me out for a date?" He asked while Lucifer burned with Jealousy

"Hell no!" She snapped at him, "I noticed the books on your shelf, I guess you're a book person like myself," She added with flushed cheeks, argh why did she even ask in the first place

"Yes, I love books," He told crossing his leg over the other, "It'd be a pleasure to pay your shop a visit,"

"Hmm," She nodded with a smile before leaving the room.
