1 Prologue

"Haah Haah…Hurry up! To the roof!" A painting teen yelled at his two childhood friends as they ran through a field of walking corpses on the school roof. Exhaustion evident in his voice as he swung his baseball bat again knocking another one of 'Them' that had gotten too close away, blood splattering across the concrete.

As they rounded the corner to the stairs he swung again knocking away what might have once been one of his friends. Though since that 'Thing' was practically unrecognizable with its pale gray skin and blood oozing from every orifice, he didn't give it too much thought.

He couldn't for his sanity even if he wanted to.

Another one, this time female with a crick in her neck lunged at him. Not missing a beat he swiftly ducked down allowing it to roll over his back and to the floor, without slowing his pace much. He didn't stop to end it's life again, knowing it would take a while for it to get back up, giving the two behind him more than enough time to pass by.

"Hisashi! Are you okay!?" He practically grunted out as he made it to the top of the stairs clearly out of breath after all the running and fighting. However, his friend didn't respond, only clutching the wrapped wound on his arm tighter as his pace up the steps slowed.

Hisashi's vision had been getting blurry ever since he had been bitten and he knew what was coming. He didn't want to lie to his closest friend since he already knew what he was going to ask him in a few moments.

That said he wasn't given the chance to say anything as Takashi rounded back down the stairs and started assisting him up to the top of the roof. He wanted to say something, to yell at him, tell him to forget about him and go on.

But deep down, he was still holding out hope that maybe his guess was wrong.

No. That's not it. In truth, he was just scared to die...

That's when they heard Rei halt her steps behind them and they looked back to her taking up a practiced stance with her makeshift spear.

"YAHH!" Rei cried out as she thrust the tip of her rod into the heart of one of 'Them'.

"NO, YOU IDIOT!" Takashi screamed out at her in a panic.

"Huh?" His voice distracting her caused Rei to lose her focus, not noticing the walking corpse grab a hold of her spear.

"AGH!" Rei let out a pained yelp as her spear was yanked from her and she was slammed into the wall of the building.

"Urgh…" Rei groaned as she slid down the wall to her ass after having the wind knocked out of her.

*Ahhhggghhh*

The former high school student moaned and groaned as it slowly approached the downed Rei with wobbly uneven steps. Blood and saliva dripping down its wide-open mouth.

Rei could only look up with tears in her eyes as she was face to face with death itself.

"Stop it! Just Stop It Already!!" Rei screamed at the top of her lungs while closing her eyes tight, too afraid to keep pretending things were alright.

""REI!"" Both Takashi and Hisashi cried out seeing the predicament Rei found herself in. But before either of the boys could act to save their friend…

*BANG*

Following the gunshot, they watched as several streaks of sparkling yellow, moving at speeds their eyes could barely follow, boar through the heads of several of 'Them' one after the other causing all of their heads to explode in a gory mess. Though the one closest to Rei was instead pushed back first before the streak pierced its head. It was only after killing a few more of 'Them' that the arrows fizzled out of existence, only the splattered brain matter serving as proof they existed.

"Chaos Shot" A sweet but cold, silk-like voice echoed from behind them interrupting their stunned silence as they quickly looked back to see an all too familiar face with her hair fluttering through the wind.

Blood like crimson eyes that all swore could see through their very soul. She stood fairly tall at 182cm and she had a perfect, golden-proportioned body that would cause any professional supermodel to look away in shame. Straight blond hair that looked like each strand was made of pure golden silk. It was long, reaching just below her perfectly shaped ass, as she let it hang loose with bangs covering her forehead. [A/N: She basically looks like a female gilgamesh]

She was the definition of cold beauty. She had on a casual white blouse that hung low covered with an open black jacket ending just above her waist with white stripes going down the sides of her arms. She had on a pair of black shorts while her legs were covered in black overknee socks, leaving her absolute territory exposed for the world to see. The only thing normal about her was her standard school-issued white shoes.

The strangest thing on her, however, was the mysterious ring she always wore on her right middle finger. At a glance, it was a beautiful black ring with silver accents. Along the band had several carvings and around the center have various strange runes etched into it. The gem in the middle, a dazzling blue glass like crystal. There seemed to be a crest of sorts enshrined in the crystal but no one had ever gotten close enough to see what it was. Unlike usual though she was also wearing a second ring on her index finger. This one is the same onyx black with silver accents though there appeared to be a cloud etched into it? That wasn't what made it strange though.

It was the fact that one was now lit aflame with an impossible rainbow-colored fire. It flickered between orange, yellow, red, blue, green, purple, and indigo. Each giving off a slightly different effect as it swiftly passed by. The new ring on her index finger only had a purple flame lit though. It completely eclipsed the fact that she was carrying a handgun with a now smoking barrel. Perhaps that was the most normal thing about this entire situation.

"You mongrels just gonna stand there all day, or what?" She questioned the stunned frozen group in her usual sarcastic voice while crossing her arms and giving them her signature death glare.

"Cyrina-sensei!" Rei was the first to restart and quickly grabbed her pole and dashed towards the now named teacher, completely ignoring both boys and jumping arms wide in order to embrace her savior with tears in her eyes...

"Ugh," Only to be met with a hand to the face just barely keeping her from wrapping her as her face stayed smushed against the outstretched palm.

"How many times have I told you to stop jumping on me Miyamoto? A third-year student shouldn't be acting like this. Especially with all that blood on you!" Cyrina sighed in exacerbation while the girl continued trying to push past and latch on to her like usual.

"Awww~ But, Shenshei I mished youu~" Rei said, her words coming out slightly unintelligible.

Takashi and Hisashi wanted to sigh looking at the scene between their friend and the Physical-Ed teacher that became all too common in the last two years. Though they both still held some bitter feelings towards the woman, at least right now they were glad to see her. They wanted to ask about the flames and the light arrows but there were obviously more important things to be done first.

"Hurry up and get up here, more are coming. Rei, guard the stairs, we'll build a small barricade for the time being. There should be some tables in the astronomy club room up here." Cyrina said, eying them both but letting her gaze linger on Hisashi's pale figure a little longer with narrowed eyes.

"Right, thanks for the help sensei," Takashi said while helping Hisashi up the last few steps while Rei stopped playing around and took to guarding the steps. Luckily whatever Cyrina had done before had thinned their numbers quite a bit but there also seemed to draw them towards this direction. She wanted to ask more about it, she wanted to go back into the comforting arms of her lover like she had for the first time what seemed like an eternity ago. But there was a time and place for everything. Just having her nearby was enough to restore her confidence.

Takashi brought Hisashi up and looked around for a place to set him down for a moment before noticing they weren't the only ones on the roof apparently.

'Isn't that Hayashi-sensei? So this is where she ran off too…' Curled up in a ball in the corner appeared to be another teacher at Fujimi Highschool, Hayashi Kyoko. She had reddish-brown hair which she kept in a loose ponytail with long strands hanging down in front of each ear, and a full figure with large breasts like so many of the girls at this academy. Her glasses didn't hide her light brown eyes full of tears as she rocked back and forth denying everything around her.

He quickly put her out of his mind though as he let Hisashi lean against the railing and made his way into the astronomy club room.

Back outside Cyrina while keeping the increasingly pale Hisashi in her sight, looked out into the city at the pure chaos that unraveled not too long ago. After her chaos shot quieted a few of those scum it was much easier to hear the various sirens and horns going off in the distance. Fire and smoke rose high into the sky, creating a scene that looked straight out of the apocalypse.

She could see and hear students and teachers screaming and running for their lives through the courtyards filled with blood, guts, and bodies. It disgusted her to no end.

Reaching into her pocket she pulled out an odd cerulean blue cigarette with a slight grimace noticing she didn't have many left, as the little blue stick automatically lit itself after a small glow from her ring.

Taking a drag she was able to make use of the tranquility effect of the concentrated rain element and calm both her mind and the poison that threatened to kill her almost daily. Especially after using sun flames of all things, not that she had much of a choice at that time.

She should have been more prepared for a situation like this. She had grown complacent these past few years in hiding. She had been taking supplies from her gluttony storage constantly without restocking due to convenience. She was glad that she at least had the foresight to keep her last guardian ring on her at all times, seeing as she might have to make a choice rather soon on who to give it to.

Not that she didn't already have someone in mind, though it would only matter if she were still alive during all this. Then again, if she could be taken out so easily, she wouldn't have been up for consideration in the first place. Shizuka on the other hand she could only hope was alright in this kind of situation. That woman is a bit too dizzy for her own good.

"Ah, I forgot to pick up some milk yesterday. I wonder if I should make a stop on the way home? Nah, Lily would throw a fit. Again…" Cyrina thought aloud as she blew a puff of smoke into the air.

She briefly wondered if this was maybe another plan to smoke her out but quickly thought otherwise considering the scale of this incident. Though she did know a few people that wouldn't hesitate to doom an entire country to get to her and more importantly, Lily.

"Whoever is responsible for this better pray to whatever god is left that Liliana is alright or they won't even need to smoke me out. I'll personally burn this world to the ground…" Cyrina said her eyes briefly flickered a fierce golden before settling back down to her normal blood crimson.
