Chapter 24 Your no longer Cannabil you are

Valarissa exclaimed with enthusiasm, gazing down at the earth beneath her. The dragon effortlessly soared above the clouds, swiftly flying at an incredible speed.

In Valarissa's eyes, Dragonstone Island, once a massive island with a fiery volcano, now appeared as a tiny sphere.

Perhaps misinterpreting Valarissa's words as an offense, the dragon abruptly picked up its pace while she was momentarily at ease.

Letting out a mighty roar, the dragon unleashed a burst of emerald flames into the sky, accelerating its speed and diving into the blazing inferno.

"Oh no!," She exclaimed as her eyes widened and she urgently shouted in High Valyrian, "No, don't! Stop, Cannabil, stop!"

Her pupils contracted as she realized that, despite her resistance to flames, she was not completely immune to them, especially not dragon flames. She quickly positioned herself behind the horn, seeking shelter from the destructive torrent of dragon flames.

The dragon effortlessly tore through the overpowering green dragon flames, flapping its wings and soaring ahead.

"What the.. this is my mana !"

Valarissa clung tightly to its back while looking at the magical scene that was transpiring before her, whether due to her still active skill 'Fearless one' or the impending sense of death, her mana instinctively activated, creating a reddish thin shield to safeguard her body. The dragon flames seared through the shield, scorching some of her clothing and leaving behind red, swollen burns in certain areas.

"Ahhh!"

She was indeed burned by the dragon flame, but the injury was relatively minor, possibly due to the protective reddish mana and her heightened resistance to flames.

Her the fingers and arms experienced the greatest impact, but Fortunately the restorative qualities of the water from the jade space continued to facilitate her self-healing process.

Valarissa could feel the dragon's defiance as it continued to roar. Its lack of recognition towards her was evident.

"I am prepared to perish in your inferno if need be! Let us discover who yields first!"

As the resolute words in High Valyrian reached its ears, the dragon grew increasingly restless. It leaped and maneuvered through the air, exhaling fiery breaths in an attempt to dislodge her.

Valarissa clenched her jaw tightly, determined not to release her grip. She had a strong intuition that if she could endure, she would eventually earn the dragon's acknowledgement.

Valarissa found herself clinging desperately to the dragon's back, attempting to establish a connection with it, only to be met with a negative response.

Powerless to intervene, the dragon unexpectedly decelerated and turned around, its emerald vertical pupils no longer displaying a wild demeanor, but instead revealing a more humanistic gaze.

Valarissa faced the dragon, witnessing its stubbornness and arrogance as it retracted its head and continued its flight. Unbeknownst to her, a crimson energy emanated from her, merging with the dragon and establishing a fleeting and delicate bond between them. Within this ethereal connection, she experienced the dragon's emotions—cruelty, detachment, indifference, and irritation.

This ethereal representation depicted the untamed Cannibal, a malevolent dragon. It vehemently resisted any disruption to its solitary existence. Simultaneously, the dragon also sensed Valarissa's unwavering determination and resolute emotions.

Understanding the dragon's desires, Valarissa pleaded, "Grant me an opportunity to be your companion."

The dragon emitted a low growl, expressing its irritation but with less resistance than before. It let out a mighty roar as it ascended into the sky, flapping its wings, and swiftly took flight.

Cutting through the currents of air, it soared higher and higher, piercing through layers of dense clouds saturated with moisture.

Reaching the utmost altitude, it momentarily steadied its form before arching its thick neck backwards, executing a mid-air backflip followed by a graceful free fall.

After consecutively flipping and inverting its body, Cannabil utilized the momentum to launch Valarissa off its back, gracefully flapping its wings, and descending rapidly.

Valarissa clung desperately to anything within her reach, fighting against the disorienting sensation as they ascended into the sky. Her body felt numb and weak in the weightless environment.

However, as time went on, the bond between them began to strengthen, causing the dragon's resistance towards her to diminish gradually.

With one final resounding roar, everything suddenly became calm, as if the world had quieted down.

In that moment, high above the clouds and the vast ocean, a sense of tranquility enveloped the dragon and the girl as they flew together at a leisurely pace.

Cannibal remained suspended in the air above the sea, its wings battling against the strong winds, but no longer attempting to move. Observing that Cannibal was no longer resisting her, Valarissa cautiously released her grip on the dragon's horn and started to climb up using her hands and feet.

Valarissa experienced a slight suffocation due to the sulfur smell as the dragon shifted its side. In order to resist the dragon's breath, she turned her face sideways. While Cannabil continued to fly around, Valarissa leaned down and felt the rough texture on her palm. As thoughts of her father's reaction crossed her mind, the corners of her mouth grined slightly.

A sudden smile appeared on Valarissa's face as she gently rubbed the black scales with her palms. She felt an indescribable sense of accomplishment in her heart.

"You are no longer Cannibal; you are now my dragon, the Dragon of Valarissa Targaryen. And you deserve a new name that suits your true identity," she declared to the dragon.

"How about... Qyraxis!" She inquired of the dragon.

The dragon emitted a small roar of confusion, indicating its lack of understanding regarding the significance of a name.

"Nevertheless, henceforth, you shall be known as Qyraxis," Valarissa proclaimed.

Qyraxis roared, seemingly accepting the name reluctantly. However, Valarissa paid no attention to this slight hesitation as she exclaimed, "Fly, Qyraxis!"

Valarissa withdrew her hand, firmly grasped onto Qyraxis's back scales, and issued instructions in High Valyrian.

Roar!

The same command, the same roar. This time, Qyraxis no longer resisted Valarissa as he flapped his wings and soared high into the sky. His body remained remarkably steady, and she experienced no jolts whatsoever.

She attempted to loosen her grip on her hands and shut her eyes to savor the refreshing breeze. With Valarissa's initial bond with Qyraxis now fully stabilized, she could sense the pride and arrogance emanating from Qyraxis. Valarissa found this mindset amusing yet also touching. With her cheeks pressed against Qyraxis' cold scales, she embraced her dragon partially, as it was too large for a complete hug.
