Luna's heart sank as she watched Brian's lawyer approach her. Her mind raced with a million questions, and her hands trembled with anxiety. What could this mean? Why would Brian's lawyer be here? She took a deep breath, trying to steady herself before the lawyer reached her.

"Ms. Luna, I'm here on behalf of Mr. Brian," the lawyer began, his voice formal and detached. "He has requested a meeting with you to discuss some matters regarding your divorce settlement."

Luna's heart skipped a beat. Divorce settlement? She had hoped that their separation was just a temporary setback, but the mention of a settlement shattered her fragile hope. She felt a lump forming in her throat, making it difficult to speak. "W-what does he want to discuss?"

The lawyer's expression softened slightly as he continued, "Mr. Brian wishes to meet you at his office tomorrow morning. He believes it's time to finalize the divorce and discuss the terms of the settlement."

Luna's eyes welled up with tears, her voice barely a whisper. "But... I thought... I thought we could work things out."

The lawyer sighed sympathetically. "I understand your feelings, Ms. Luna. However, Mr. Brian has made his decision. He wants to move forward with the divorce."

Luna felt her world crumbling around her. The pain of rejection and the fear of losing the man she loved intensified within her. She nodded, unable to find the strength to argue or plead for another chance. With a heavy heart, she accepted the lawyer's invitation to meet Brian the next day.

As Luna left work that evening, her steps felt heavy, burdened by the weight of her shattered dreams. Brian's gaze softened, and he reached out to touch her cheek gently. "I love you too, Luna. But I thought I was doing what was right for both of us. I didn't want to keep hurting you."

Luna's heart ached at his words, torn between the pain of their separation and the flicker of hope that still lingered within her. She reached out, grasping his hand, desperately holding on to the love they once shared.

"Brian, please," she pleaded, her voice filled with raw emotion. "Let's not give up on us just yet. We can work through this. We can find a way back to each other."
