Chapter 1: The Second Awakening

Dark and empty void. (Y/N) (L/N) is sleeping and slowly falling head first into nothing. He slowly opens his eyes to see the entire nothingness of his surroundings. Making him blink numerous times just to make sure his eyes are open. Slowly starting to panic, looking for a way out. Looking for something. Anything for him to go straight towards. With every head-turn and breath he takes, he is slowly losing hope.

Suddenly, a light shines from below, towards where he is slowly falling down to. The light is different. It felt calming, warm and gentle to gaze at. Something (Y/N) haven't felt for a long time. Easy, calming, pleasure.

He gazed into the light, shedding a tear as he reaches his hand towards it. He then felt a gentle embrace from behind, gently caressing their cheek to him. And just when he was about to turn, they whispered...

"Do not lose hope. I will be here for you."

(Y/N): Huh?

Suddenly, he starts falling faster than before.

================================================================================

He then wakes up finding himself on the floor, face first and his phone alarm ringing. He slowly stands up and reaches for his phone, before staring at it blankly for a whole minute. Until he noticed the date...

"July 1st, 20XX -- Back To School!"

(Y/N): Crap!

After getting all dressed up, and putting the toast on his mouth, he then rushes out of the apartment room.

The apartment is like any other average apartment. Not too fancy nor shabby. (Y/N) is currently leaving on the the third floor, one floor up before one reaches the roof.

All excited and determined to start his new year of college life, he rushes towards the stairs. Which made him slip on a banana peel, tumbling all the way down to the second floor and dropping his toast.

Writhing in pain, he brushes off the dirt and walks off.

(Y/N): A banana peel? That's so cliché.

He stated before proceeding to the next set of stairs, forgetting about the toast he dropped on the ground, in which he accidentally steps and slips from it, and now tumbling all the way down to the ground floor.

Groaning in pain, he lays flat on the ground. Staring up at the sky.

(Y/N): Can't this day get any worse?

He asked rhetorically, which in turn he received a toast to the face.

He couldn't help but to simply sigh, before finally getting back up and brush himself off. And just before he makes another step, he sees another banana peel that is close enough for him to step on.

(Y/N): Yeah, no. Not gonna happen.

He stated and then placing his foot away from the banana peel.

Accident has been avoided, he smiles in confidence and makes his way to his bicycle. All smug and happy, he steps on something.

(Y/N): ...

It's not slippery, like the rest he has stepped on. But it was something everyone would really want to avoid.

(Y/N): ...

Especially, if they are wearing brand new shoes.

(Y/N): Please, don't do this to me...

He looks down, and sees dog poop all over the bottom of his left shoe.

(Y/N): Oh, come on...

================================================================================

After a few minutes of taking a break from the numerous fallouts, (Y/N) is now on the road, cycling through the streets of Brooklyn, with small stains of dog poop on his left shoe.

(Y/N): It's going to be alright.... I've stepped on dog poops before... No big deal... After I get to school, I'll go straight to the bathroom and wash it off... Hopefully, no one will notice the smell... First day of college.... I've slipped many times before... What could go worse...

He spoke to himself, and proceeds to cycle his way peacefully towards the university.

================================================================================

After arriving the university, he notices a woman in uniform. Possibly a professor of the university. The woman is locking the gate on the university in which (Y/N) asks in confusion.

(Y/N): Um... Excuse me.

Professor: Yes?

After a quick look at (Y/N), she then noticed.

Professor: Oh! Are you one of the students?

(Y/N): Um... Yes, ma'am. Is there problem at the university, or...

Professor: Oh, didn't you hear? Start of school is moved to next month.

(Y/N): What?

Professor: Yes.... You are part of the school group chat, right?

(Y/N) grabs the phone in his pocket, and as he opens the screen, sure enough, the first thing he sees is the chat head. Announcing that summer break has extended for one more month.

(Y/N): I... didn't check...

Professor: I see... Well, have great summer, Mr....

(Y/N): (L/N).

Professor: Mr. (L/N). Pleased to meet you! I'll be seeing you next month. Safe trip!

(Y/N): Y-Yeah... y-you too, ma'am...

The professor then walks away, happily. Leaving (Y/N) all tired as he slouches and rests his chin on the bike handle. Wiping his sweat on his face.

(Y/N): That was 20-kilometres....

================================================================================

Sunset.

(Y/N) is now back on the road, but is too tired to cycle back home. Instead, he decided to walk.

(Y/N): Okay.... Well, at least I won't need worry about school just yet...

He said to himself after taking a long deep breath.

Suddenly, he then notices another banana peel, right in front him, next to the trash can.

(Y/N): Oh boy...

He sighed, deeply, before picking up the banana peel and then throwing it in the trash.

(Y/N): Couldn't get much worse than this...

He stated, right just before he hears a loud car. He then turns towards the where the sound is, and sees a car heading towards him at top speed, even though he is on the pedestrian lane. (Y/N) didn't have a choice but to jump out of the way, leaving his bike behind. Resulting into crashing the bike into the wall.

After dodging his possible death, he felt relieved. Unfortunately, he sprained his left ankle from dodging.

Slowly limping his gaze back towards the incident, he sees his bike flattened into the wall. Then, all of a sudden, the driver leaves out of the car. (Y/N) was about to attempt to talk to the driver, until he found out that it was a drunk driver.

Drunk Driver: HeY, WhATs yuRR pROblEm?! *hic* huHHH???!?!

He yelled.

Drunk Driver: aRe yerh TryINg To geT yoURsELf KiiLLeD, DuMBaSS?!

Shocked, sad and bewildered, (Y/N) can only shake his head in silence, all the while listening to the drunk driver rant at him until the police finally show up.

================================================================================

The sun has set down and the moon has finally risen.

(Y/N) have just arrived at his own apartment, minus the bike. Via walking, or rather limping.

(Y/N): Finally...

Suddenly, lightning strikes from the clouds, followed by a heavy rain. Getting (Y/N) wet, just before he could make it to the stairs. (Y/N) can only sigh deeply. Standing in complete desolation, he is then greeted by a girl's voice -- his childhood friend, Ina.

Ina: Hey, neighbor.

(Y/N): Hey, Ina.

He greeted back with a tone of pure melancholy. Trying to cheer him up by sharing her umbrella with him. In which he, in turn, smiles at her.

Ina: Bad day?

(Y/N): Like always.

Ina then pats (Y/N)'s back.

Ina: Let's get you back inside.

================================================================================

After taking a hot shower, (Y/N) is sitting on his couch while Ina is wrapping his ankle with some bandages.

Ina: It's a shame you lost the bike.

(Y/N): It was about to break anyway...

Ina: I guess... But still, you and I have ridden on that bike since we were kids.

(Y/N): I know. It's crazy it lasted this long... But, I guess it's time is up.

He stated while looking out at the window, watching every raindrop slide down the glass pane, while Ina looks at him in worry.

Ina: It's a gift from your grand pa, right.

(Y/N): Yeah...

Ina: You're taking this rather pretty heavily, aren't you?

(Y/N): It's been rough. I mean, I fell down the stairs this morning.

Ina: Well, you know what they say: Never trust stairs. They're always up to something.

She joked as (Y/N) remained silent.

Ina: Come on. Get it? Because stairs.... it.... goes up...

(Y/N): ...

Ina: No?

Silence filled the room for a moment, until the timer on Ina's phone starts ringing. Signaling that the cup noodles on the dinner table is done.

Once they sat into their chairs, Ina claps her hands and calmly shouts.

Ina: Itadakimasu~!

Before breaking her chopsticks and eat her food. (Y/N) on the other hand is just staring at the noodles.

Ina: Is something bothering you, (Y/N)?

(Y/N) takes a moment, breathing deeply, before answering her.

(Y/N): ... Maybe I should just stay indoors for a month.

Ina: (Y/N).

(Y/N): I know, I know. I shouldn't think like that. I know someone out there is having it worse than me, but.... You can only take so much, you know?

Ina: ...

(Y/N): I mean.... I know I'm always very unlucky some times...

Ina: By that, you mean almost every time?

(Y/N): R-Right... but my bike? I had that thing since we were kids. You and me, we used to ride with it. Now it's....

Ina: Okay.... (Y/N), you've had it hard, ever since, and only now it's getting to you?

(Y/N): *sighs* What do you want me to do, Ina?

Ina: .... I can't say there's anything you can do, (Y/N).

(Y/N): ...

In his silence, Ina places her hand on to his.

Ina: You just need some good rest. Who knows, maybe it'll be worth it tomorrow.

(Y/N): ...

Ina: Okay, maybe not. But, who knows, right? One day, it'll get better. You just have to hope that one day it will come to you. And who knows? Your day may get better before you even notice.

(Y/N): I don't know...

Ina: Come on, just one day. Tomorrow, head out, walk around, and treat yourself something nice. I'm telling you, things will get better. If it doesn't, I'll eat my own paintings. Things like these, (Y/N), you just got to hope for the best.

(Y/N) shifts his gaze back at Ina, after hearing the last statement, in which she smiles making (Y/N) smile as well.

(Y/N): Thanks, Ina.

The two stare at each other for awhile, until Ina realizes that she has been holding his hand for too long, making her face turn red as she quickly pulls away.

Ina: I-I should probably go to my room now! Good night!

She greeted before grabbing her cup noodles and head towards the door.

(Y/N): Wait! You are coming with me tomorrow, right?

Ina: Huh?

(Y/N): You just said, I should try and treat myself tomorrow. I just thought, you know, you might come with. I mean, you did say it.

After hearing that statement, Ina's face turns more red that before, and is now fuming smoke from both sides of her ears.

Ina: I-uh-I-uh-I-uh-I-uh-I-uh-I-uh-I-uh-I-uh-I-uh-I-uh-I-uh-.....

(Y/N): Ina? Ina?! Are you okay?!

After trying to calm herself down, she finally answers back, almost biting her tongue.

Ina: I-I can't.... And tons of commissions to finish today.

(Y/N): Really? I thought you were having slow this month.

Ina: T-Things just burst out of nowhere, you know? Hehehehe...

(Y/N): ...?

Ina: HOOO! Isn't it hot in here? Hehehe. I should probably get back to my room! Good night!

Ina then slams the door close, not giving (Y/N) a chance to greet her back. And from the outside of the door, (Y/N) overhears Ina muttering to herself...

"Stupid, stupid, stupid..."

Until her voice is finally out of reach.

After finishing his dinner, (Y/N) then calls it in for the night.

It is 2:00 AM in the morning. (Y/N) is having a nightmare in his sleep. Sweating and breathing heavily in his bed. Every move and every breath he takes feels like it is getting shorter and shorter, to almost suffocating. That is until a palm of someone's hand caresses his cheek. Calming him from his nightmare as he begins to sleep soundly.

After the nightmare was over, (Y/N) slightly opens both of his eyes, half asleep. Feeling the gentle caress from his cheek, he looks over to it. Still half asleep, he couldn't completely see the entirety of the said creature, only the silhouette was clear.

Long hair that reaches down their thighs, crystal-like wings and horns like of a demon. But even with their demonic-like appearance, they give off a very gentle aura, almost angelic.

Their touch ever so calming and soothing, (Y/N) couldn't help but to fall back asleep. Afterwards, the mysterious being notice (Y/N)'s left ankle, all wrapped up in bandage. Moving their palm towards his ankle to caress it. Spreading trails of sparkling lights, before disappearing out of existence.

8:00 AM. (Y/N) have just woken up from his phone's alarm tone. After shutting it off, (Y/N) took his time to lie in bed. Silently spacing out and still feeling that gentle sensation on his cheek. He lies on his bed for a few minutes, trying to remember that silhouette last night, but all could manage to remember was the horns and the wings.

(Y/N): Weird dream...

He stated before standing up from his bed, completely ignoring the sprain on his left ankle.

Remembering Ina's advice, he decided to take a stroll around the city as he goes to change his clothes. Only now remembering the bandage on his ankle, once he started putting on his shoes. He stops halfway before he could put on his left shoe, realizing that the pain on his left ankle had faded away.

(Y/N): Huh... Maybe Ina was.... Nah. No way. There's always something.

Ignoring this, he puts on his shoes and then leaves the house.

================================================================================

(Y/N) is out on the streets, walking all by his lonesome. Hands in his pockets and earphones on his ears.

(Y/N): Huh, my ankle doesn't really hurt... It's like I never sprained my ankle.

He said to himself, before being stopped by one of the street janitors.

"WAIT!!"

(Y/N): Here it comes...

Expecting the worst, the janitor simply picks up the banana peel he was about to step on.

"Phew! That was close their, kid. Would've slipped out there, if I hadn't stopped you."

(Y/N): Oh, um, thanks. [Why is there a banana peel every where I go?! This is so stupid!!]

"Carry on."

With that, (Y/N) proceeds. And just before dodging the accident, he is then about to step on dog poop. Until he is then stopped by a dog, who came running at him and started circling him before standing up at its two feet, as if it is wanting to play.

"Bark, Bark!"

(Y/N): Woah! Hey, buddy. Where's your owner?

"Bad dog!"

A woman yelled, picking her puppy away from (Y/N).

"I'm sorry, it's his first time outside."

With that, (Y/N) then watches the woman then walk off, lecturing her pet. As soon as he turns around, he then just notices the dog poop he was about to step on. He stares at the dog poop, analyzing the situation, almost starting to think that this is all going too well, before walking away, stepping over the dog poop, knowing that it is just a coincidence.

After dodging another mishap, he stumbles upon a penny.

(Y/N): Ooh! A penny.

As he crouches to pick it up, he heard a slight thud that came in front of him. He shifts his head towards the said sound and then noticed a bird poop that had just dropped from the sky.

(Y/N) stands and stares at the bird poop, relieved of dodging the third mishap.

(Y/N): Huh. Good thing I stopped. I guess this penny just saved my--

As he lifts his hand up, the penny was gone, as if he never picked it up. After checking his palm and his pockets, he then quickly turns around and sure enough, the penny wasn't on the sidewalk either, as if he just imagined that he just saw a penny.

After taking multiple takes of looking back and forth, he then decides to ignore the situation and continue to walk, still perplexed.

After awhile, he finds himself on a crosswalk, waiting for the go signal from the other side. While waiting, (Y/N) couldn't help but think of the supposed accidents he would have experienced. The first two can be considered as coincidences, but the coin incident certainly didn't. Which got him thinking that today is good.

(Y/N): ..... Maybe a little too good...

He said to himself, losing in thought, only noticing now the go signal from the other side after getting bumped by someone.

Now walking across, when all of a sudden, a loud truck horn is heard and is heading straight towards them. About to crash into them without a sign of it stopping, but the driver is trying it's very best to do so.

Everyone, including (Y/N), sprints towards the other side. He was about to reach the crosswalk, until he notices that there is a left behind. The woman with the puppy earlier, who seems to have slipped on a banana peel.

(Y/N): Seriously?!

He heads back to the crosswalk to help the woman get back up on her feet. The truck almost on its way, with the driver trying to steer the wheel to at least to slow it down, (Y/N) quickly escorts the woman over. Running away side-by-side until he slips on a banana peel.

(Y/N): SERIOUSLY?!

He yells, mid-air, before falling onto his back.

The woman made it across, but (Y/N) is still on the crosswalk, flat on his back, writhing in pain. The people from the other side then started to shout at him to get back up. One was about to jump back in, it was too late as the truck is already there. (Y/N) shifts his head to the side and find that the truck is already about hit him. No time to stand back up, he can only look away and try to shield himself.

(Y/N): ..... Huh?

With the truck going at him at high speed, he should've been hit just a few seconds, but as soon as he turns back at the truck, he sees it stopped an inch away from his nose. He quickly jumps away in frighten and looks around, noticing that time had stopped.

(Y/N): What the...?

Everyone in the crowd is stuck in complete shock, paused in place, with (Y/N) the only one moving. He stares at the truck, feeling relieved of dodging another death experience, when suddenly a voice is heard.

"From the depths of despair: a glimmer of light, the warmth of recovery."

Frozen in place, staring at the truck and feeling a gentle embrace from behind. The same feeling he felt in his sleep, as he don't feel like turning towards the person embracing him. He closes his eyes as tears starts to roll down, feeling the warm sensation, the peaceful moment. And then the whisper.

"As long as you have hope in your heart, life will be nothing but peace."

"Open those eyes and see."

(Y/N) then opens his eyes sees that the truck in front of him have disappeared as the truck driver falls to the ground. Time has moved again as the people start to wonder what happened to the truck. Meanwhile, (Y/N) is standing in complete shock after witnessing the entire event, when suddenly, he feels something in right hand.

He just noticed that his right hand is closed tightly and seems to be holding something. He opens his hand and sees that he is holding a transparent crystal.

Hours have passed and the police are investigating the entire incident, gathering evidences, IDs and questioning everyone, including the driver of the truck. Construction tapes, blocking the area of the entire intersection.

Meanwhile, (Y/N) is sitting at the ambulance's door step with a blanket covering him and a nurse doing a health check on him while a detective is questioning him.

Detective: May I ask where was your destination?

(Y/N): Nowhere, sir. I was just taking a stroll.

Detective: Quite a long stroll you've been doing, judging by your home address.

(Y/N): I-I had a lot in my mind.

Detective: Going out on a stroll and then found yourself in this mess. Well, aren't you an unfortunate one.

(Y/N): [I've heard that a lot.]

Detective: Well, at least you weren't hurt, or worse; be knocking at Death's door.

He joked and laughed which made (Y/N) all the more uncomfortable.

Detective: Speaking of which, you mentioned about a truck disappearing?

(Y/N): Yes, sir.

Detective: Can you describe how?

(Y/N): I... Can't...

Detective: You can't?

(Y/N): ...

Detective: Care to emphasize on that?

(Y/N): I don't know what to say.... I mean... It just disappeared.

Detective: "Just disappeared". Like, magically? It just poofed out of thin air?

(Y/N) nods leaving the nurse and the detective perplexed, sharing a look of doubt.

Detective: Nurse, when you're done, kindly check this young man if he's... you know... alright in the head.

(Y/N): I'm telling you the truth!

He stood up from his seat.

(Y/N): It just disappeared, like it didn't exist!

Nurse: Sir, sir, please calm down, deep breaths. You're in shock, you need to rest.

(Y/N): But it's true! I-I'm not crazy!

He yelled as he then remembered when time literally stopped for him and then the crystal on his hand.

(Y/N): I... I'm not...

Afterwards, the nurse calms him down and sits him back down, while the detective has been called by an officer.

Detective: Are you done questioning the witnesses?

Officer: Yes, detective. And the truck driver as well.

Detective: And?

Officer: Well, all of them were just minding their own business. One has family with two kids, the driver has been working for five years--

Detective: Is there anything I should care?

Officer: Well, there is one, Detective.

Detective: And that is?

Officer: Is that the said "truck" just.... disappeared?

Detective: ...

Officer: Detective?

Detective: Sorry, I just heard the same thing from that kid over there.

Officer: I see... I guess that makes them all then.

Detective: This can't be right. Things just don't disappear out of thin air. Have you check the CCTV cameras?

While the officer and the Detective are having a discussion, the nurse have just finished checking up on (Y/N), leaving him alone and stare at the crystal he is holding.

(Y/N): How did this... I wasn't holding it before, was I?

He then stares at the crystal. Putting his entire attention towards the crystal. Feeling its calming aura. And for a brief moment, he is becoming gradually deaf from his surroundings as he starts to hear a girl singing in a peaceful tone, covering the sounds of police sirens and chatters with a singing voice that is echoing in his ears. But he didn't mind as it sounded beautiful. The singing continues on until he then finally hears another girl's voice that has been calling him out in the distance.

Ina: (Y/N)!

Ina is at the other side of the construction tape, trying to get in but a police officer is preventing him.

Officer: Ma'am, please, I've told you, no one is allowed inside the premises.

Ina: But my friend's in there! Please, just for a few minutes.

(Y/N) stands up and removes the blanket from him and starts walking towards her.

(Y/N): Ina?

Ina: (Y/N)!

Ina slips through the officer and rushes towards (Y/N), embracing him and letting all of her worries out.

Ina: Thank goodness you're okay!

(Y/N): Ina, how did you know I was here?

Ina: I saw the news. I heard there was an accident and I couldn't help but think that you're in it.

(Y/N): Really? Come on, what are the chances?

Ina: Well, you're.... you.

(Y/N): R-Right...

The detective and the officer joins them.

Detective: What's going on here? I thought I made myself clear that no one gets in!

Officer: I'm sorry, detective, but she slipped through.

(Y/N): I-It's alright, sir, she's with me.

Detective: Is she a relative?

(Y/N): She's a friend.

Detective: Well, I'm going to need a more practical reason than that. I'm sorry, but your friend is gonna have to go.

(Y/N): .... Fine. But can I go now too, detective? I'm very tired and I've already answered all of your questions.

The detective thinks for a brief moment, trying to come up with questions with the missing truck, but nothing seems to come in mind as he then grabs his car key from his pocket.

Detective: I'll drive you two home.

================================================================================

After a long day, they have finally arrived at the apartment.

Ina: Thank you so much for giving us a ride, officer. Would you like to come in? I'll treat you with some tea.

Detective: Nah, that's alright. It's getting late. My wife might get mad at me again. Besides, I don't want to be a third wheel between you two lovebirds.

He said jokingly, of which made Ina blush.

Ina: W-We live separately, officer!

Detective: Really? That's a shame. Might've saved yourselves some rent fee, but who am I to judge?

Ina: ...

Detective: Anyway, (Y/N), right?

(Y/N): Yeah.

Detective: ... To be frank, (Y/N), what you told me was... unbelievable.

(Y/N): I swear, detective, I've told you nothing but the truth.

Detective: "The truck just went and gone".... Yeah....

(Y/N): ...

Detective: ... Well, anyway, here's my number.

The Detective hands (Y/N) his business card.

(Y/N): Detective Shawn Biggs.

Biggs: If there's anything else you want to tell me or if anything else turns up, let me know.

(Y/N): .... Actually, now that you've mentioned it.

(Y/N) then grabs the crystal from his pocket.

Biggs: What am I looking at here?

Ina: Where'd you get that?

(Y/N): I didn't...

Biggs: ...?

(Y/N): This crystal just popped into my hand after that truck disappeared.

Biggs: Really....?

He asked in a somewhat sarcastic tone.

(Y/N): I'm serious!

Ina: Are you sure you didn't just forget that you brought it with you?

(Y/N): A crystal, Ina? Come on, what am I supposed to do with this? Plus, do I look that rich to own any?

Biggs: ...

Ina: Any ideas, detective?

Biggs: Just one.... I think he's crazy. No offense.

(Y/N): Sure...

Biggs: But yeah, I'll be taking that. Hopefully, we'll find something with this, but I highly doubt that we will. I swear, all of the cases this past week is like trying to solve a magic trick.

(Y/N): ...

Biggs: Have a goodnight, you two.

With all said and done, Biggs drives off into the distance, leaving the two all by their lonesome.

(Y/N): Why didn't you just live with me?

Ina: H-Huh?!

(Y/N): I mean, he's got a point. It'll be less rent if we're living together.

Ina: L-Living..... together.....

Blushing heavily, not answering his question, she quickly walks back into her room, slamming the door behind her.

Left confused, he decides to ignore the situation and calls it a day.

================================================================================

Meanwhile, Detective Biggs is peacefully driving along the road. Until he is then stopped by a heavy traffic.

With the missing truck case in mind, he remembered the crystal (Y/N) handed to him, in which he placed it on the passenger seat. He looks over and noticed that the crystal is not beside him. He searched the back seats, the glove compartment, under the passenger seat, every where in the car and still no sign of the crystal.

Shocked, he sat on his seat in complete confusion, before taking another look under the seat. That is until he is stopped by the car horn behind him, now noticing that the car in front of him has moved.

================================================================================

Next Morning.

(Y/N) have just woken up by the sunlight. About to rub his eyes, he then somehow hurts himself, as if he deliberately swings something into his eye.

(Y/N): OW! What the?!

Luckily, he didn't swing it too hard. After waiting for the pain to go away, he then noticed that he was holding something the whole time. He shifts his gaze towards his hand and realized that there is a crystal in his hand. The same crystal he gave to the detective last night.

Confused he then starts changing into his casual clothing, while calling the detective on his phone using the business card he received from him.

(Y/N): Detective, sorry for calling you so early.

Biggs: "Who is this?"

(Y/N): It's me, (Y/N). The one who gave you the crystal last night?

Biggs: "Ah, yes, now I remember. I was actually just about to call you as well. But we can deal with that later. What's on your mind?"

(Y/N): I-It's the crystal. Do you still have it?

Biggs: "Right.... about that.... that's actually the reason why I wanted to call you."

(Y/N): What happened?

The detective stayed silent for a moment, hearing his deep sigh from the other end of the call.

(Y/N): Detective.

Biggs: "Tell me, (Y/N). Do you have the crystal with you?"

Just as he went outside and closed the door, he was surprised by his deduction, as he then asked him.

(Y/N): How did you know?

Biggs stayed silent as he sighs again out of how unconvincing his reasoning is. Choosing to stay silent just so it wouldn't sound far-fetched.

Biggs: "Listen, (Y/N), can you bring that crystal by the station?"

(Y/N): Uh, sure, but I might be there a little late. I don't really have any mode of transp--

He stopped halfway after seeing that his bike, the same bike that crashed that other day, is parked right where he always parked it. He stood silent, shocked by the sight of his supposed unfixable bike, has returned.

Biggs: "Right, well, just come on down when you're feeling it, okay. Stay safe."

With that, Biggs hangs up the phone, while (Y/N) is still shocked. Walking over to it, examining every part of the bike. All seems to be like the bike he owned, but is more sturdier than ever.

(Y/N): Nah... No way... This must be someone else's bike.

With that in mind, he then quickly jumps away from the bike, just in case the owner doesn't see him.

Now, after walking for a short while, he then notices that the bike is moving right beside him. He stops as the bike also stops, with the side stand sliding out. He turns back around and tries to find anyone, especially person with a camera, just in case if he is a victim of a prank video. But no one seems to be present. The bike bell then rings, catching (Y/N)'s attention. Shocked, due to the fact that it rang by itself.

After composing himself, he examined the bike, once more. Once again, he found no changes, other than the fact that it is sturdier. After a while of thinking, he decides to give it a shot.

He swings his left leg over and places it on the pedal, hands on the handle bars and his rear end in front of the bicycle seat. Testing it once more before going off.

(Y/N): Well, if it breaks, I'll only have myself to blame.

He stated before riding off.

================================================================================

While cycling his way down to the police station, the crystal in his pocket started glowing. He stops and parks his bike at the nearest bench, before pulling out the crystal. The glow radiated the same aura, soothing and calming as he kept staring at it. Until he hears some noise coming from the alleyway.

He ventures towards the alleyway, with his bike, and sees two members of a biker gang, mugging a woman with a knife. (Y/N) walks towards them, slowly. After they exchange a few insults, one member starts pulling her bag as she starts pulling it back and scream. (Y/N), putting up a brave face, he yells.

(Y/N): Hey!

The three turns to him, and by the sight of two bike members, his determination suddenly went away.

(Y/N): I-Is there a problem here?

Biker 1: What does it look like?

(Y/N): W-Well... uh... I mean... I just..... You know...

Biker 2: Shouldn't be snooping on other people's business, kid.

The two members then let go of the woman and start creeping up on (Y/N). As the woman could do nothing but watch.

Biker 1: You know what we do to meddlers, kid?

(Y/N): I-I assume you give them a nice lecture and then let them go peacefully?

One them then grabs him by the collar.

(Y/N): Okay, maybe not.

Biker 1: Hope you've said your last prayers, kid.

He said while pointing a knife at him.

Woman: Leave him alone!

Bikers: SHUT UP, LADY!

The crystal in (Y/N)'s pocket then starts glowing as the bikers notice it.

Biker 1: Well, what do we got here?

Distracted, (Y/N) uses this chance to escape, by quickly lifting the front part of his bike and hitting the biker's groin. As the other biker is about to charge at him, he swings his bike around, hitting the other biker's face, before cycling his way out of the alley.

Biker 2: Little shit!

While pedaling his way out of trouble, he then hears motorcycle engines whirring behind him.

(Y/N): Oh great!

He then starts pedaling faster, hoping he would out run the bikers, but even in his determination to do so, one of the bikers gets beside him. Taunting him as he keeps his motorcycle at the same speed as (Y/N)'s.

Biker 2: Nice bike, kid! Too bad, we're gonna tear it ap-- WAAAAAAHH!

His motorcycle slips on a banana peel as they both tumble down the road.

(Y/N): Okay, that's not even physically possible!

After the sudden accident, he felt somewhat relieved.

(Y/N): I feel more confused!

With one biker gone, there was only one member left, suddenly gets beside (Y/N) and bumps him, causing him to get knocked over and tumble down. The biker stops and points his motorcycle's headlights at (Y/N), and revving up his engine at him. Like a predator growling at its prey.

The motorcycle then speeds towards (Y/N). About to meet his own end, the motorcycle suddenly slips on a banana peel, causing the motor to flip backwards, tumble up and pass over (Y/N), and then crash land in the alleyway behind him.

Feeling relieved, he then feels the crystal on his pocket shaking and glowing brighter than before. Before he could reach for the crystal, he noticed the biker is standing back up and with a gun in his hand. With this, he dashes in the alleyway as the biker starts shooting at him, missing every shot. Frustrated, he follows him in.

After successfully not getting hit by the gunshots and taking a few turns, (Y/N) stumbles upon a dead end. He turns around to find another way, but the biker had already found him. The biker creeps up on him while (Y/N) is backing away slowly.

(Y/N): Hey, hey, hey, isn't a gun a little too extreme?!

Biker 1: Shut it! I have about just had enough of you!

The biker fires a shot.

And after missing that last shot, he then starts emptying the magazine out of frustration, all of it, unfortunately, missing (Y/N). With every miss, he grows frustrated, and the crystal on (Y/N)'s pocket starts to shake harder, as if someone inside is trying to break free.

After the gun clicks, the biker throws it away and pulls out his knife. Now charging at (Y/N) with the intent to kill. With fear taking over (Y/N), he is stunned in place, unable to move. No where to escape, no way to fight back, he stood in complete despair.

I've never been lucky before.

Every time I try, something always happens.

I know that someone else is having it worse than me.

But you can only take so much...

Is that being selfish?

Maybe I am destined to fail.

...

Maybe...

Maybe it's better if....

If....

...

If I just....

The crystal rips out of his pocket and bumps into the biker's head, knocking him away. The two stand in awe at the sight of the crystal, glowing, floating and shaking in between them. The crystal starts to crack, with every aggressive shake it makes. And after the final crack, the crystal breaks into tiny glowing shards as comes back together to form a humanlike body.

The body of a girl, long, dark-purple hair, horns like the devil and crystal like wings. She floats back down and opens her different colored eyes. Her right as dark as a fearful demon and her left as blue as a peaceful angel. Facing the biker with complete pity in her eyes.

The biker stands back up, ready to strike whereas the girl simply stood, clasp her hands together and closes her eyes. The two stood in confusion. The girl then gently opens her eyes, and stares at the biker's.

"It must have been so hard."

She whispered. Causing the biker to fall to his knees and cry.

Biker 1: I'm sorry... I'm sorry...

The biker bawls out of guilt, and starts apologizing over and over.

While (Y/N) is shocked from pure confusion, the girl turns around and approaches him.

"Are you hurt, (Y/N)?"

(Y/N) stood silent, staring into her eyes. The girl didn't bother calling him out as she simply waited for an answer, whereas (Y/N) finally snaps back.

(Y/N): H-How do you know my name?

He asked as the girl smiles.

"I've known you for quite a while."

She answered as (Y/N) then asked.

(Y/N): Who are you?

The girl smiled and answers.

"I am IRyS."

"I am here to bring hope back into your heart."
