Chapter 19: The hoard

I grabbed my blade out of the closet and got ready. We didn't know when it was going to hit or not. Jace stayed at our house for today with his blade. Blue ran the halls and the stairs. He was scared so we had to put him in my room when it hit to keep him quiet and calm. I was nervous the last time this happened I was just a kid. I looked at Simon and all of a sudden, we heard a BANG!

My mom was with Zach and so was dad. We were the only one's home and we had to go and fight. We headed downstairs when an explosion happened. I passed out falling down the stairs. I woke up with ringing in my ears and walkers. I went to check on Simon and he was passed out on the bed. I woke him up quickly and told him to stay because it was day. Jace ran upstairs to get me so we could fight. He wasn't affected by the explosion for some reason. We ran outside and started fighting a dozen or so walkers.

It was then when I got knocked out of the way from a walker behind me. I fell hard to the ground and then saw Simon on the ground too. "Simon, get out of the sun!" I screamed. He looked at his hands and saw he wasn't burning to death. I looked at him and that's when he helped me up. I tossed Simon a blade to start helping us with the walkers. When we killed them all I went to the knocked down wall and turned and I got stabbed.

I didn't see who it was, but I saw Simon speed over and Jace also. Jace picked me up and brought me to my bed. Jace kissed me and then left before Simon got here. I passed out and I saw that my mom was by my side and Zach also with some flowers. It didn't heal me, it only healed walker bites and who knows what else. They left me alone with Simon. Simon came over to me and had a tear go down his face. "I can't lose you either Hope." Simon told me. I took my hand and cupped it around his cheek. He smiled at me, and I smiled at him also. He saw the blood from me and turned away.

I knew he wouldn't hurt me, but he can help me. I told him to stop the bleeding, but he didn't know how. I saw his eyes go wide and all I felt was a sharp pain in my arm and him sucking while stopping the bleeding for a while. I passed out and then when I woke up, with my arm wrapped. I saw Simon sitting by me and he stared at me and my arm. He felt so good, the pain was gone, and I loved him for it. I leaned over to him and kissed him.

I felt weak and the walls were being built up again with extra strength. I was scared and I told him, "I thought I lost you when you entered the sun, Simon." "I'm right here not going anywhere." He told me. I knew that I didn't want to lose him, so I leaned over to him and laid my head on his chest. When we woke up the next morning I went downstairs and went to go collect the blood bags for Simon. I collected the bags from Raphael and killed a couple walkers on my way. I went back to Simon and saw my mom in the hallway. "Where did you go?" Mom asked me. "I went on a walk on the outside of the walls." I told her.

She walked up to me and opened my bag and gasped. "What are these for?" She asked me. I pointed to the bedroom while saying, "Simon." She went into my room and went over to Simon. She stood there for a second. Then she gave him a hug and left my room and went downstairs. I looked at my arm which I needed to replace the bandage. I went in and sat beside Simon and handed him the blood bags. I put my bag by Simon so he could put them in there when he was down and went to grab a bandage out of the bedroom.

I sat down by Simon and started unwrapping my bandage and placed the old on the bed. There was a big gash and I wanted to know who did it to me. I looked at Simon and he was looking at the gash that was bleeding. I scooted closer to him with the new bandage. I started wrapping it furiously not knowing who did this to me. Simon put his hand on my arm and took the bandage so he could wrap it himself. When Simon was done, I heard a knock on my door. "Who is it?" I questioned the person on the other side of the door. "It's Jace." He answered. I told him to come on in and so he did. I closed my bag shut and threw away the bandage. Jace sat down on my bed so Simon and Jace were on each side of me.

"What are you doing here?" I asked Jace. He told me that someone led the walkers here and it might be a traitor from our side. I couldn't believe what he was saying. I looked at Simon and he agreed with Jace. No one knew about this but us. Someone is trying to capture someone here in town. We have to find out who it is, or things will go really bad. The hoard was only the beginning to what's going to happen. I have to see if Raphael can join us in the upcoming battle. We need to tell the others, but we need to keep calm for now.

I will have my mom and dad tell everyone then us three will go out with my brother to Raphael and see how close the other hoard is. It's got to be tonight though. I went downstairs and called for a family meeting. Zach came home quick and gave us some news before I started my talk to the family. "Simon's dad got attacked by a walker and died. He said to have Simon live with us and take care of him." I looked at Simon and put a hand on his shoulder.

Zach sat down and I stood up with Simon and Jace following. "Mom and dad, we need you to have a meeting with everyone in town and tell them everything but to have them to be calm and ready for the next hoard. Me, Jace, Simon, and Zach will go and recruit some people for the battle later. This will all happen tonight." We all said down and heard the other news from the town's meeting people. We all got up and I took Simon to gather his clothes from his house. We came back into my room and got his things in some drawers and on hangers.

I sat down on the bed and passed out. I heard Simon yelling for Bailey, my mom and she ran in. I saw something that would destroy our whole family and only ours. There was a man with a staff of fire and metal armor. I woke up and saw mom by me and Simon. She handed me a book to write anything I saw in there, so I don't forget. I started writing and then drew the man on a hill with burnt trees and fire. I didn't know about any of this. I only knew it happened to my mom when I was young. I drew a man with metal armor with the wooden staff made out of burnt wood with flames on top. The helmet was the only thing I could see of his face. The staff was spiraled and thick. I showed this to mom and Simon to see if she knew anything of this.
