41 A date with Mei

It's been a week since Kiana attended Chiba Academy, and since then, the three of them became some kind of group where they stuck to each other during school time and lunch time

Adam was currently walking towards a nearby cafeteria to pick a certain someone up. Although Mei accepted his offer to visit his dormitory along with Kiana, she was still quite uncomfortable visiting a male's dorm out of nowhere

So they reached a consensus, he'll pick her up today so they can go out, explore the city together, and have fun

Basically a date in disguise, really

"H-hello, w-what can I get for you?" The girl behind the counter smiled shyly as he saw his appearance

He gave her a gentle smile which made her cheeks became red

"Good morning, I'm waiting for someone that works here. Can you let her know that I have arrived?"

Surprisingly, Mei worked here. As her bank accounts were frozen, she had to earn cash the hard way and work a part-time job

"O-of course, what is her name?"

As she was working here, he came to pick her up

It was a beautiful girl. She had dark purple hair and indigo eyes, she seemed to be waiting for someone, and that someone was naturally him

"Eh? Raiden-san, are you the one he was waiting for?" The girl behind the counter asked in surprise as she saw her stand beside Adam

"Of course, Kaguya-san" Mei smiled at her co-worker

"So that's why you asked for someone else to cover you shift" The girl said in realization

"Lucky...." She muttered in a whisper

Adam's mouth twitched as she said that. His senses are sharper than normal humans so he heard her clearly

"Anyway, Mei, are you ready to go?"

"I am ready, Adam. Let's go" She nodded while smiling

A boy and a girl were walking together, exploring the city

The sights around Adam were dazzling, to say the least. He hasn't taken the time to explore this city as it was pointless for the sole reason that it will eventually be destroyed

Of course, they both went to places that were more suitable for romantic dates. The more industrial parts were not good dating spots after all

"I guess Nagazora city is indeed beautiful" He muttered

Mei besides him blinked at him in confusion

"Adam, haven't you explored this city before?" She questioned him

He shifted his gaze towards her "I guess not. I wasn't born here and I never really took the time to explore around and see the scenery"

"I see. Siberia, right? You never talked about your past"

"...."

"I-it's fine if you don't want to" She stuttered out in embarrassment for asking such a private things

It wasn't like it mattered to him. He didn't have a mysterious past nor was it something that needed to be hidden

"It's alright I guess. It isn't anything mysterious, the only things of importance are me being an orphan and moving to Nagazora city a few years ago" He said with a neutral tone as he decided to tell this to Mei

It was better for him to be an orphan, he didn't want to be burdened by a normal family. He had a family in his previous life and nothing could replace that

"Ah.." Pity flashed in Mei's eyes as she smiled sadly at him "Sorry for asking"

"It's alright. Being gloomy about the past is useless, the only thing we could do is focus on the present and look towards the future" He reassured her as he smiled at her

"You are right..." She smiled again, more brightly this time as her eyes regained a light that was never present before "Thank you, Adam"

Her voice was filled with gratitude and determination. He didn't know where it came from, but it made quite happy that she wasn't depressed and gloomy as previously

"Hm?" He looked at her in confusion "You're welcome?"

"By the way, how is Kiana-chan?" She smiled gently at him as she changed the subject

Adam's mind went to the white-haired tuna who had become lazy, especially now that Christmas is coming up

Naturally, the relationship between Kiana and Mei became very good, and with his presence, they became friends very quickly

And now that that it's December and the time for vacation is drawing closer, the tuna had seemingly became very lazy, a lot more compared to how she was before

".... She has become even lazier now that a holiday is approaching. I prepared some food for her in case she starves and doesn't think of eating outside" He said after a moment of hesitation

Kiana is practically living with him anyways. She always never goes back to her own assigned living space because it was better to live with him as 'She could always eat his food without having to go back and forth between the Dorms'

Of course, although Mei protested at first, she gradually accepted the situation as Kiana was quite adamant to sticking to him since he cooks good food and she likes it

He chuckled at the girl's shyness

Meanwhile, in the male dormitory of Chiba academy, a white haired girl could be seen opening her blue eyes

She sit up from the bed, the girl went to change clothes as the ones she was currently wearing were pajamas that exposed a lot of her skin

As she left her room, she couldn't help but notice the silence that was present

"Adam-senpai?" Kiana called out with a soft voice

Not getting a response, the girl glanced around warily, wondering if something bad happened

"...!" Her eyes widened as she spotted a note on the table

She rushed to read the note, hoping to find the answers to her questions

"Sorry for not notifying you, but today I won't be present in the dorm

I have scheduled an outing with Mei, and I don't know how much time I will spend with her. So in case I don't return until night, I have cooked enough food for you to last through the day

Of course, I have also left you some money in case the food gets cold and you want something fresh

Anyways, now that I'm not there, you can do girl things by yourself without a boy's presence

Kiana put the note down as her expression became complicated

"He is with Mei-senpai?" She muttered in a soft voice

She was feeling uncomfortable that he had gone out with another girl, and he didn't even bother telling her! She also wanted to go out with them!

She then scrapped that idea as she didn't even know their current location

Kiana sat back down on her bed as she immersed herself in thoughts that were mixed with sadness and anger. She didn't even know how to feel!

Adam walked hand in hand with Mei, both of them enjoying the breeze that softly caressed their faces

'Eh, I'm sure Kiana will be fine by herself' He reassured himself without any shame

[Great Sage] wanted to say that leaving a girl who has already been abandoned before isn't a good idea as it could resurface past trauma. But she didn't say anything in the end as she felt as though it wasn't a suitable time

Am I proud of this chapter? No, not really

Writing romance is really difficult, especially when I myself have little experience in that regard

But cringe is inevitable.... And I would like to know your thoughts about how it has been up until now, and advice to improve upon this aspect
