5 Chapter 5: Welt Yang (4k)

Chase and Sirin eventually escaped from the Tower. They seized a car from the Tower and quickly drove away from the Babylon Lab.

The gunshot wound on Chase's left shoulder continued to bleed, and the intense pain pulsed with his heartbeat. Despite the injury causing him to stagger, Chase had no time to inspect the wound. He needed to drive the car farther, far enough that the falling snow could cover the tracks and footprints, and far enough that even the pursuers from the Tower or Fate would take some time to catch up.

Chase wasn't sure how long the contingency he left in the main system of the Babylon Lab would last. After all, his enemies were a group of highly skilled extremists backed by a colossal entity like Fate.

The G-12 Tactical Mech Prototype looked formidable, but it was still just a mech. How long it could impede the Tower's actions was uncertain.

"Brother..." The girl sat obediently in the passenger seat, looking at Chase with worry and fear, specifically at the wound on his shoulder.

The girl was concerned about Chase's injuries and wanted to help her brother. However, she didn't know how to assist and could only watch her brother with worry, silently scolding herself for being useless.

I can't do anything...

If I were stronger, would my brother not be hurt?

While Sirin was lost in her thoughts, Chase's words brought her back to reality.

"Sirin, can you check the glove compartment for anything metallic?"

"Eh!... Oh, oh." Sirin nodded hurriedly, looking around, then paused, "Brother... what's a glove compartment?"

Chase was also taken aback by the question, then said, "The drawer in front of you, just pull it open."

Sirin nodded, opened the glove compartment, and indeed found a folding knife.

"Brother, is this okay?" Sirin handed over the folding knife.

"Hmm? Let me see." Chase first checked the road ahead, ensuring there were no obstacles. He quickly turned his head, glanced to the right, and immediately returned his attention to driving.

"It's good, thanks, Sirin." He took out a relatively advanced-looking lighter from his pocket and handed it to Sirin. It was found in the lab's control room.

"Sirin, open the knife and heat the tip with this lighter."

After speaking, Chase paused for a moment and added, "Be careful not to get hurt. You can wrap the handle with something if you need."

Sirin nodded and began to execute the task Chase assigned her, feeling a sense of accomplishment for being needed.

"Sirin, let me know when the tip is getting red. Be careful not to ignite other things in the car, and don't get hurt," Chase instructed.

"Yeah, yeah." The girl nodded like a chick pecking at seeds, watching the folding knife and lighter floating in front of her with satisfaction. She praised herself for being clever.

As long as I do this, I don't have to worry about getting hurt or setting the car on fire~

(*^▽^*)

Mom was right; the "God" really exists and responded to her request!

Watching the flames rising from the lighter, Sirin silently prayed in her heart:

'God, can you heal my brother's wounds?'

[I can't.]

Sirin: (.?`ω??)!

[The power of "Void" cannot accomplish these things.]

It's because I can't do it that I need your help, God...

[...]

There was no response, no matter how Sirin called out. She felt frustrated but continued with the task at hand.

Sirin pouted and suddenly noticed that the blade was turning somewhat red.

"Brother, it seems ready." Sirin looked at the young man driving, and said.

"Okay." Chase stopped the car, turned to the girl, and suddenly froze.

???

Can someone tell me why this folding knife and lighter are floating in the air?

He looked incredulous, with a mix of surprise and confusion in his eyes. He glanced at the girl, wanting to ask, but the words seemed to get stuck in his throat.

Because at this moment, Sirin, with cross-shaped markings in her golden eyes, emanated an inexplicable pressure when locking eyes with him.

He wanted to inquire about the girl's peculiarities, but they were in the middle of an escape, and he didn't have much time to dwell on it. He decided to save this discussion for later.

"Thank you, Sirin!" Chase smiled and thanked the girl.

Then, he took off the blood-stained clothes, exposing the wound. The girl, still sitting beside him, looked at Chase's wound with a worried and fearful expression.

Chase smiled and tore off the clean part of his clothes, telling Sirin, "Sorry, Sirin, can you look away for a moment?"

Chase wasn't trying to intentionally distance Sirin. He just thought that Sirin's method of using the cauterization technique to stop bleeding was a bit too advanced. He was concerned that witnessing the process might affect her appetite for several days.

Sirin's body trembled, and she obediently nodded, turning away without looking at Chase.

Sirin also wanted to help her brother, but she was very obedient. If her brother told her to turn away, she would turn away...

Seeing that Sirin had turned her head, Chase nodded and picked up the tip of the knife, which had turned red. He was about to press it three times against the wound to cauterize it and stop the bleeding. But at this moment, Sirin turned her head and said,

"Brother, can I help you remove the bullets?"

"How do I do that?"

"With this," Sirin demonstrated the teleportation skill of the lighter, "God told me."

The display of power by Sirin once again surprised Chase. He was curious about Sirin's current changes and wanted to know about the existence of the "God" she mentioned.

But now was not the time to ask questions; it would have to wait until later.

"Thank you, Sirin." Chase praised the girl with a gentle smile. Regardless of how different Sirin was behaving now, she was still his sister, and Chase had full trust and tolerance for her.

He believed that his sister wouldn't harm him, just as Sirin believed in him.

Sirin nodded happily, and the golden glow in her cross-shaped pupils flickered. An invisible force was applied to Chase with her gaze.

While marveling at the magical power, Chase kept guiding Sirin on the specific location of the bullets.

"A bit deep, about the size of a few thumbs. Move down a bit from here..."

The girl was highly alert, as if she were a lead surgeon performing a precise operation on a patient in an operating room. In fact, this was the case. Sirin, not fully familiar with the power of the Void, was performing a delicate power usage on her brother for the first time, and she was afraid of accidentally harming him.

But if the bullets were not removed, it would undoubtedly have a significant impact on Chase's body.

After a while, Chase suddenly felt a lightness in his left shoulder, without any additional pain. It was just a feeling of the bullets disappearing. It felt like wearing a new bitter tea suit on New Year's Day or a long-suffering patient finally using Xiangdan Qing...

"Thank you, Sirin. You've been a great help." Chase smiled, praising the girl.

He had thought about using a small knife to cut out the bullets directly from the wound, but the wound was too deep, and there were no sterilization measures here, so he had to abandon that idea.

Sirin: (^o^)/

Sirin was very happy, her mouth seemed to be reaching the sky, and her eyes blinked at Chase like a child waiting for candy on Halloween.

Chase guessed Sirin's inner thoughts: Praise me! Praise me!

But the harsh reality poured cold water on the girl. Chase, with an outstretched hand, pointed to the side as Sirin looked at him expectantly.

"Sirin, don't look over here, brother needs to attend to the wound."

Sirin's smile instantly stiffened, and in a moment, she collapsed like a deflated balloon, looking listless.

Chase could only shake his head helplessly, watching the disappointed girl, and turned to handle the wound with the red-hot knife.

[With Sirin's help, you successfully removed the bullets from your body.]

[You chose to use the cauterization technique, effectively suppressing the loss of blood. Excellent effect! (Though it hurts a bit)]

After that, Chase quickly used the torn strip of cloth to bandage the wound. Only then did he have time to check on Sirin, who was still looking out the window at the scenery.

Chase tried to look out the window, but it was dark, and the visibility was limited. He didn't understand why Sirin was so absorbed in looking outside.

However, when Chase's gaze met Sirin's reflection in the car window, he understood.

At the moment their eyes met in the mirror, he saw the girl hurriedly look away, casually rearranging her purple hair. Her fingers involuntarily played with her hair, and she asked,

"Brother, are you not healed yet?"

"..." Chase felt speechless and amused, "Sirin, I saw everything."

"What, what is it..." There was a clear sense of panic in the girl's tone, like a cat caught stealing rice cakes, an undeniable cuteness, "Sirin, Sirin doesn't understand~"

Chase shook his head without revealing the girl's hasty lie. After all, he had to give his sister some face, right? Besides, the playful teasing just now was enough.

He patted the girl's head, smiling, "All done, Sirin, let's continue."

With that, he started the car, smoothly accelerating.

The girl turned her head, staring at Chase for a long time with her golden eyes. Suddenly, she burst into laughter.

"Yeah! Let's go!"

The girl looked at the illuminated road ahead, her tone full of determination and excitement. It seemed like she saw not the scenery lit by the car lights but the dawn of a new day...

On the other side, in a military base located in North America, a man with brown short hair stood in front of a silver-blue mech. His gaze beneath his glasses was sharp as he stared at the huge mech, or Titan, before him.

In front of the enormous Titan, the man appeared tiny, like a child facing a Tyrannosaurus Rex in a sci-fi movie. Everything seemed so small and powerless. It seemed as though a casual blow from the mech could easily tear the man apart.

However, the man showed no signs of nervousness or fear. He simply stood with his hands in his pockets, unmoving.

The man's name was Welt Yang, the leader of Entropy.

Looking at the massive Titan in front of him, Welt spoke softly, "Let's begin."

Boom!

The Titan immediately launched a barrage of missiles, flying towards Welt.

Welt's eyes glowed with a crimson light as the powers of the Herrscher were fully invoked in this moment.

Understanding, analyzing, reconstructing...

Void! Void! Void! The missiles flew through the air, emitting a piercing and blood-pumping sound, getting closer and sharper, like the haunting melody of the Grim Reaper.

Holding his breath, Welt performed a series of operations in the blink of an eye. The missiles, now about to hit him, disintegrated in this moment, turning into individual components, losing their previous power. They crashed onto the ground of the military base, raising some dust, but failed to stir up a storm.

Welt let out a sigh and looked at the remnants of the weapons.

Not enough power...

At this moment, the executor of Entropy and Welt's friend, Einstein, approached, saying, "She has arrived; we observed her reactions in Siberia."

"Otto from Schicksal has also noticed her existence. It was only a matter of time," Welt nodded. "Inform Tesla to mobilize the Titan forces. We'll depart in two hours, and I'll go to Siberia myself."

With a solemn expression, he looked towards the weapons debris.

"We may not be able to persuade her..."

"Be prepared to eliminate her."

Einstein sighed, "Ah, the days of peace, have they passed so quickly?"

But after saying that, she suddenly remembered something and added, "The boy you wanted to investigate, he has been located."

"..." Welt remained silent, just turning his head to look at Einstein with a hint of curiosity.

"After his adoptive mother passed away, he and his sister were sent to a medical institution..."

"Shouldn't it be an orphanage? Why a medical institution?" Welt was puzzled.

"The medical institution is called Babylon."

"..." Welt fell silent. He truly didn't expect that the person he once favored as a successor would go through all this.

He naturally knew that the so-called Babylon medical institution was just a deceptive facade created by Schicksal to transport test subjects to Babylon Lab. Typically, those who entered Babylon as test subjects didn't have a good outcome...

"How long have they been inside?"

"For a few months. Our people couldn't infiltrate the Tower for an internal investigation, so their fate is unknown now." Einstein shook her head. "I think you shouldn't have too much hope. It's hard for a child to survive in there for an extended period..."

"..." Welt fell silent, making a decision in his heart.

"For this Siberia trip, dispatch some personnel to investigate the Tower's information."
